I have this gentleman next to us that when I looked out yesterday (In the driving rain) was taking off the front tire (22.5). When I first loooked all I saw was him laying under the front of his RV in a puddle. I went out to be sure he was OK and he told me he was going to take off the tires and the brakes because he had just bought the RV a month ago. We have been sitting in Washington in the rain for 4 weeks with no let up,the ground was soft mud,. I wouldn't have tried this when the ground was dry and we were 30 years younger. After he removed a tire, he left the rig on the jack and went to bed. I think he needs a hobby.

I have a 2006 Holiday Rambler, the other day I pulled the battery tray out to check the level of the fluids, whoever owned this unit before us put what appears to be baking soda in the trays to prevent corrosion I guess, I have heard of this working. Anyway has anyone tried to use the spray0n rubber liner like for P/U Beds?? It claims to be acid resistant and would sure look better than a tray full of white powder.

I just did a short walk around the Travel Inn RV Park in Elma, WA, saw lots of FMCA Plaques. Lets get together at the club house and have coffee or sometrhing. I'm in space 56 by the club house, Let me know your here too. Larry

I have the darndest luck. I go to 31 flavors and find a flavor I like-They quit making it. I go to a fast food joint and find a burger I like, same thing. Try going to Red Robins and getting the same burger twice-Won't happen. All my Rving life I've dreamed of owning a high dollar Monaco-- I finally did it and got a 2006 HR and look what happened to Monaco. I hit a small post in a tight turn, can't get repair doors, I have had 2 body shops turn me down because it's a Monaco.

I just sold the Sticks and Bricks Home and after buying a 40 foot DP '06 Holiday Rambler, we are ready to go. We have dealt with all the issues that seemed to be important and will deal with the others as they jump up to scare us to death. Right now I am dealing with the TV programs, which satellite ? We have had Direct TV for a number of years, but they require you to have a real house somewhere, Dish requires you buy a $399 carry out antenna. I have an automatic Winegard on the roof, but they will not install to that antenna. That leaves me with Hughes which I have helped a few of out traveling friends to try and get setup and have failed because the signal is spotty and not always around. What now ????? What is everyone using and how happy are you with it????? Ideas would help too. Thanks in advance. Larry and Rita

We just replaced out '99 Pace Arrow with a '06 Holiday Rambler, and it seems that when you run the A/C on the roof the water runs down the roof and down the body, on the HR it collects on the slide topper and when you roll up it too runs down the windows and body. Other than being very irritating, and I'm sure we all have the same problem, but it seems that if you spend the money for quality, this issue could be dealt with at the factory and some type of drain could be designed to stop the moisture from collecting on the roof, this can't be good for the roof in the long run. Has anyone else tried to deal with this issue???? How did it go or not go?????? Larry & Rita

We are going to pick-up our '06 HR in a few min. Camping world quoted me $9,000 for 4 years warranty, raised my payments from $688 to $750. Song and dance about Diesels and $30,000 engine replacement.

We just bought a new car, a new tow dolly, sold our house, best of all a 2006 Holiday Rambler 40 foot DP. Wife said first trip will be to Denver to see our son, before he heads to Alaska, she plans on leaving from the dealers lot after we sign the papers (I think shes in a rush.) Anyway the purpose of this post is to find out if there is anything interesting between Portland, OR and Denver? We made this trip once before on a tight time schedule and only saw the back of a lot of Diesels. Now we have the rest of our lives. I'm not to keen on Wyoming and the winds, last trip we lost our awning and a mirror.

We just bought a '06 HR 40 foot, with a 400 Cummins. The coach weight is 33,000 and we plan on towing a '13 Kia Soul, 3,700 lbs on a tow dolly. I have heard we can expect between 6 and 15 mpg. I have never had a diesel so I have no idea who to believe, but I know I can trust people on this forum, that have done the traveling. What kind of fuel mileage can I truly expect ???? We are buying a new RV tomorrow and would like to buy a chest type freezer designed for the basement of my rig. CW Wants almost $900.00 and I can eat out a lot for that price. We need a "Classified" area for these type of things. Larry F428262

The last time we cruised to Alaska I was very disillusioned by the (tourist traps) we found. It seemed that all of the tour sites were staged by uninterested locals, and after they did their dance in the street they got on a school bus and left. Most of the trinket shops were in warehouses that looked more like swap meets (Temporary) and the people that ran them looked and spoke Japanese or some other language, if you turned some of the gifts over they had tags "Made in China". We saw eagles flying across the bay and landing in trees, which was wonderful until later when we meet a local and he said the shop owners baited their roofs with meat and hung some in the trees. I could have stayed in Seattle and seen the same thing. I'm not downgrading Alaska, we've been there three times and love it-We have 9 grandchildren and a total of 17 great grandchildren in and around Alaska.

We have made the leap to Full Time, and the first problem we ran across is the many "Medical Evacuation" plans offered by some of the clubs (GS, FMCA) This is a great concern to my wife because I have a bad heart and am a cancer survivor, her fear is we will get out and have an emergency and no help around. Has anyone had any dealings with these plans and which is best??? Is there a cost ? hELP!!!!!!! Larry and Rita

We have a set of four supports that were given to us when my sister quit RVing. After reading some threads about what could happen, I just carry them, and haven't tried them yet. First in-park garage sale I come across -- out they go.

I just got home from the mod shop, I went to price a manlift installed on my '99 PaceArrow. My wife fell out of the RV and landed on her back--Now she can't navigate the steps in our Class A. I'm looking at a lift, and some mod. on the shower pan so she dosen't need to lift her legs as much as needed. After the mech. and I spent 2 hours trying to find the least expensive route, we are looking at around $4,000. I'm not sure I can justify the costs because we are living on our SS. If I can find someone that would like to trade their TT and TV (truck)title for title I think the lower floor would solve the problem, the second choice would be a toyhauler and truck, leaving the ramp in the back. Anyone have any ideas of other actions I can take I need help. Thanks Larry

I would think that a donation to http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ would net a great deal of satisfaction and also a good tax deduction. I have not tried to ask if they would be able to use it but makes sense to me, I can't think of a better cause to support. Larry

Don't use a saw to remove the floor!! Not knowing what is down there!! Use whatever you have in your tool chest and take your time-One layer at a time until you can see what's under there. Have you tried to crawl under and look up at what your trying to remove? The floor underlayment generaly is 3/4 inch plywood, put down and then the walls are put on top, so it may require some sawing, but not until you know what is under the floor. Take some pic's as you go along and post them on the forum, might be someone that has the same problem. Good Luck Larry

I have heard about insurance for our RVs that can be suspended during winter storage and the restarted when you get out in the spring. Sounds like a good deal if it's not radically expensive. Does anyone know, or have this type of insurance? Every time I walk to the post office to mail my payment I have to pass my lonesome baby, it kills me to pay for insurance that is not being used. They've been around since the mid 90s, all they are selling is a book that seems to be a copy of everyone else's, same 17,000 campgrounds as being offered by most membership clubs, except this group sends you a book and your on your own. Like the above have mentioned, "No campgrounds have ever heard of them".

Herman, I've subscribed to Legends for a couple of years. I used to get an e-mail monthly and looked forward to reading it. I found a metal detecting site that lists a ton of towns. Larry
