  2. hi DON the biggest issiues w/them is to change the fuel filter once a year and run the heater for at least 20-30 minutes every month, this reduces the possibilety to have varnish build up in the sray nozzle, onze the build up acures then there is no resorse but to take it apart and replace the nozzle.it is not verry complicated ,but care has to be taken i dit mine myselfe ans it took me 35-40 minutes .the hardest part was beeing on your knees during this time.get one of those gel/rubber kneeling pads ,you need a 10 mm deep 1/4inch drivesockets 8 inch extesion and a rachet a 3/4 inchcombo wrench,a 5/8 combo wrench a wire brush,a clean cloth,if you have compest air it will be real helpful, startand take the cover of to expose the burner ,you need a 1/4 or a 5/16 nut driver, look over the top ,you see the burner, there you can see the 2 10mm nuts ,there is one on each side, yuo dont have to take them completly of, the will move of to the side then take the burner out,(also have to disconect the wires, they only go one way) take the burner and wirebrush the cabon out ,and blow out w/air.You can see the spray nozzlein the center, there is where care needs ti be taken, dont bend the 2 electrodes in any way and dond get your dirty fingers on the new nozzle,it has to be tight but not like wheelock nuts, then take the clean cloth and clean the little mirror that reflects to the 2 electrods perhaps use a little rubbing alcohol, then put your burner assy. back on and the wiresback together and you safed aprox. $150.00 .it may sound hard ,its not. go slow if you never done it ,im sure you be ok good luck and god bless . old marine
  3. The solenoids are also in the upper stairwell, just below the knife switches, unless your inverter is in another compartment, Alfa always put them real close to each other. There are 2 of them. Follow the instruction manual--if you dont have one. Get ahold of Afateers.com and ask for Kathie. They are realy nice people and will help you to get anything you need. When leaving the coach parked for extended periods you need to turn the battery disconect switches above the entry door off or open the knife switch handles in the stairwell. This will keep you from having dead batteries. Good luck and god bless. old marine
  4. Welcome to the forum MTBrad, We have a 04 Alfa. 1st check the switches above the Entry Door-- make sure they are on (small red light indicators). Some coaches have 2, some have 3 switches .Then try again. If still no power, remove the upper stairwell cover and look directly under the upper treshhold. There are two knife handles. Make sure they are in closed position. If this is ok and your batteries are ok, then one of the Big boy solenoids has gone bad. Also, when on shore power, make sure that the switch next to your shore power cord is flipped to the apropiate amps(30/50). Let me know if this helps. old marine
  5. Welcome to the forum, mjhamm. The best is to see the book for the coach. There could be several reasons that this can happen: First ,have your friend restart the engine & try it again. Could be a charging problem to the house batteries. 2nd, make sure the coach is level, or it can put to much torque onto the slide mechanism parts. 3rd, it may have a separate key. Look that has to be turned on ,or the parking brake applied. These are the usual things. Its verry unlikely that both slide outs go haywire at the same time. Its best to look at your owners manual first, look into slideout operation. Good luck & god bless. old marine
  6. Congrats to Your New Coach. We have a 04 Alfa Gold 40 ft with a 400 Cummins , approx,33000 lbs ,towing a Nissan Maxima on a tow dolly. Just completed a 7800 mile trip, averaged 8.1 mpg, keeping the speed at 62-63 at 1600-1650 RPM. Good luck and god bless. old Marine
  7. Put 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water in a spray bottle. Spray lightly on affected area. Rub water spot effected area dry. Rinse area again with garden hose and dry right away. Good luck and God bless old Marine
  8. I don't understand that Pete's would not give You the discount. They installed new Michelins for us--no problem. Are you sure? Perhaps you did not understand how it works. They collect only for the labor to install + balance the tire charge will be later, by Michelin. You will see the charge after approx 2 weeks on Your E-Mail and charge card. I hope You get this matter resolved .Unless Petes lost its Michelin Franchise since January. Safe travels + god bless Old Marine
  9. hello smokeater 75 We stayed last August at Liberty harbor/marina Park. It is a no frills Park, but the manager was very helpful. Its the only Game in Town, no other campgrounds in the Area. The mgr. made all arrangements, the Big Bus came right to the CG as promised + on time, they also brought us back. It was a very good experience. But if you want to do it on your own, just go out of the Gate. 200 yards away is the Path (street car) it will take you to the Underground (under the Hudson river). Take it to the end which is 32th street. From there you can walk or take a Taxi(aprox. 1/2 mile or so to the the Theaters--don't worry its easier the it sounds. People where very friendly. If you want to go on your own, go over to the Ferry (50 yards from mangers. office) and for $7.00 they will take you to the Financial Center, which is right next to the 9-11 Site. Then you can go 1 1/2 miles south to the Staten island Ferry and get a free ride across the Hudson River approx.1/4 mile in front of the Statue of Liberty, and a free ride back. We think. You will enjoy your time in NY. Good Luck + save Travel, old Marine
  10. All coach manufactures using car A/c controls. You fill find the relay either on the back of the A/C controls or in the chassis fuse box . Hope this helps. Safe travels and God bless. old Marine
  11. Hi there. Just read all the answers. We had the same problem, fixed it. But i can tell You it will take some elbow grease to get it done (You might want to farm it out). Start: get the area wet, get some Bar Keepers Friend (soft scrub cleanser) and rub the area down to get rid off the oxidation. You can feel it. I used a old Terry towel. You have to wash it out from time to time. Use the hose and wash everying off from the effected area. Let it dry and feel the smoothness of the prepped area. The next step is just about as labor intensive. Apply RED MAX PRO #3. Be sure to use only #3 (there are 5 or 6 different numbers). Apply it with a old T-Shirt or a Micro Fiber Cloth. The only Caution is wear Nitril or Latex gloves. When this stuff dries + You did not wear gloves, you will have polished Fingernails for 4-5 weeks . Now comes the Bomb. You have to reapply THIS STUFF 4-6 times. It will take you 7-8 Hours if you have a 40 Footer like we have. But, you will like it. The reason is as you will see, every coat you put on the surface will look shinier. Ours looks like it was clear coated. Its been 2 years now, and I have done nothing other then hosing and occasionally brushing it down. You can find it at Lowes or at Home Depot. Bar Keepers Friend was around $ 3.00. I needed 3 cans. Red Max Pro #3 wasabout $ 18.00 or so per Gallon . I needed 1 1/2 gal. to do our roof. Like I said, you might not want to tackle the job, its not for the Fainthearted. Before I forget , don't get it on the windshield, or you stand there with a Racor Blade for some time. I am glad I did i , no more streaking (white streaking) since then. God luck , save Travels + Good Bless . old marine
  12. Hi Bobnshilene, From Santa Fe to Mesa Verde, take rt 84 north to Pagosa Springs (the closer you get towards Colorado ,the nicer the scenery). Go west in Pagosa springs to Durango. They have 6 or 7 camp grounds. I can't remember the name of the camp ground, but its the only one 2 miles west of town. It was the nicest one-- we stayed 3 days. If you don't tow a car call ahead and see if you can take your coach. You have a really tight tunnel to go trrough to Mesa Verde and its all up hill until you reach the plateau. If you drive all the way to Cortez, I would not suggest the RV park in the center of town. Hope this helps. Happy & Safe travels
  13. hi rvndonbon, I had the same problem with our coach , we have a Cummins with a side radiator. Always was going to overheating on long hill climbing. We solved our problem. We removed the big mudflap on the back of the coach. Here is my reason: I taped a 6 inch long pieces of rope with a small washer on the bottom of the coach behind the rear wheels and had a friend of mine drive next to the coach going up a steep grade ,and it pulled the ropes & washers upwards into the engine compartment then we removed the mudflap and did the same run again. This time the ropes & washers were at a angle downwards & to the back. The difference was that the temperature never went past the 1/3 mark as before I had to stop because of overheating. I don't know if this is your problem, but surely a cheap way to if this fixes your Issue. I feel that with a side radiator the engine sobber issues that the Cat engines have does not pertain to your situation. I hope this helps. Sincerely, the old marine
  14. Hello Dave and Susie, When we travel true tornado Alley, I keep the CB radio on the weather info channel. This way you have constant upkeep on weather changes as you travel, and you stay informed which way the tornado is going . Good luck + save traves , Ray + Barbara
  15. Welcome to the forum, reoandkko Check the small magnetic switch at the bottom of the screen door + the wires leading to it for cracks + chafed wires or the adhesive leaving the switch loose. It needs to have a one to two millimeter clearance.its sometimes hard to see. Good luck.
  16. Welcome to the forum, DesertDawg I had this problem with our coach. Got it fixed locally by Joe from Auto Glass Boss, 602 505 3803 . He did a great job for us . He will come to your location (with Appointment), $200.00 per Window with warranty. We are Members of Alfa See Yas. He did about 30 Coaches at a Rally last March. We are happy with his work. Good luck + save travels
  17. hi Chris for whatever its worth, check where your power cord is located + take a good hard look in the compartment .you might see a selector switch 30/50amp. make shure its flipped to whatever power you are conecting to. our coach is set up like this ,and if you are hooking up to a 50 amp but the switch is still at the 30amp position ,then all you get is 30amp .take a look + if you cant find it call winnebago for the location, good luck old marine
  18. Hello again, Just went down to storage area, and got my travelog papers out. Yes, it is Yellowstone Holiday Campground. As you can see, the back area is even nicer then the front, but the road outside the CG does not carry a lot of traffic-- 5-10 vehicles per hour.
  19. Hi Brett, Sorry, can't recall the name of the campground, our MH is in storage and all the info is in our travel folder(8 miles away from here) but I can tell you exactly the way from the west exit of Yellowstone. Leaving west exit go to center of town. Make a right and go north on Rt 191 approx. 41/2 miles. Turn left on Montana Rt 287 approx. 7 miles-- the only campground there. Its on the left between the road and the lake. They have no length restrictions for big rigs. Ask for a spot in the back. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Hope this helps.
  20. Welcome to the forum. We stayed 12 miles northwest of the Yellowstone western entrance on Montana state route 287 . There is beautiful campground right on a lake. It was clean, quiet, has full hookups, nice and level with a concrete outside eating area + your own picnic table. I can't remember the name of the campground, but its hard to miss. Just look at a map. It was $26.00 or $27.00 a night. They have a lunch + marina area. The folks were really nice there.and it was not hard to get to. We tried to get a place at the Teatons + got turned away last August, we had no reservation. But no problem up there, you also where not right next to your neighbor. We found it more relaxing. I hope this will help. PS the fishing from the marina Jetty was great (5-6PM)
  21. Yes they are fused, but not always true a conventional fuse. We have an Alfa Gold motor home ,and it gave me fits for quite some time. First, there is a switch on the driver side switch panel which has to be on, but can easily be bumped with your leg when getting into the driver seat. And the camera is fused to the inverter, so if the inverter (the smaller one) is off, you don't have the back up monitor on line. Secondly, if your picture quality is really bad, like mine was, get access to the back of the monitor. There are adjuster knobs for sharpness and color. Its still not TV picture perfect, but definitely a lot better, I can live with it now. I hope this will help.
