  1. Picked up a pair at local NAPA, $16.29 with tax, for the pair.
  2. They ought to put together an Android App of this, people could update it as necessary.
  3. Have you used this one? If so, what has been your experience with it? I was looking into getting such a cover, but found a wide array of products to choose from, with none standing out as the clear cut choice.
  4. Tireman, can you give me the NAPA part number off that? I have looked in Home Depot, Walmart, Bennett Auto Supply and Advance Auto Supply and so far cannot find this, or anything really similar. I found one filter at Advance that says it removes small water particles, but nothing about dessicant. I see a patent number but not a part number, maybe that is on the other side.
  5. Andy, funny you mentioned about the harness you made. I just read on Yahoo that New Jersey is now starting to ticket people who drive with their pets unrestrained. My own, humble, personal opinion is this is another example of too much government, sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong. Thing is, the article said fines can run as much as $1000. I bet they don't even fine that much for unrestrained people. I was wondering how most here travel with their pets. I would guess they lie wherever they are most comfortable in the motor home. In fact, I bet 95% of Americans who travel with pets, (in cars, trucks, RV's buses, whatever), do not have them "restrained" within the vehicle.
  6. I bought tires in early April and the dates on them were 50th week on 2011, so just over 3 months, not too bad I suppose.
  7. I saw the same Slime Pump in Walmart, $64.97 and it had a few extra items, (their slime goo, which I would never use), an adapter to connect cigarette lighter connection to pos/neg battery terminals. Is the head on this typical 1/4". I am trying to put together an air dryer hookup, as per Tireman, and it would be helpful if the same air dryer I make for my garage unit could be quick connected into this, when I am on the road with the RV.
  8. I'm trying to find the info now. My tires are Nexen Rodian HT size LT225/75R16. One chart on the Nexen website only shows maximums and lists SINGLE 2680 and DUAL 2470 and Max Press of 80 psi. So if I understand this right, they say the tires can handle up to 5360 for the front axle, (although Winnebago lists max at 4600) and 9880 for the rear axle, with dualies, (again Winnebago lists max at 9450}. But so far, no chart showing lighter loads and recommended or minimum pressures. I will email Nexen Customer Service and see if I can get any info.
  9. I know what you're saying about adding a bit extra makes sense. But does it hurt to have too much extra, (within the tire's max rated, of course). Let's say the tire say 90 lbs max. and the chart, for your weight say 65, would it hurt to run at, let's say 80. Does running with higher pressure also cause excess heating?
  10. I have read a lot on here, as well as web searches and I am trying to figure out how does one determine the tire pressure to use for their RV. We bought our 2006 Winnebago Aspect 26A in April and had to get tires on it right away. We knew this, and we negotiated a pretty good deal on the RV, but could not get new tires thrown into the deal. Anyway, I was hoping the shop listed the pressure they set the tires to initially, but they did not. So far, we have only driven about 600 miles since then. I looked at the GVWR Decal and it shows GVWR 14050, GAWR F 4600, GAWR R 9450, and lists pressures for the Front as 65 and the Rear as 80. I'm thinking I just need to visit a scale to be sure I am not exceeding either axle of total weight, and then if I am not, just set 65 F and 80 R. Would this be correct?
  11. Tireman, maybe I missed it, but did you ever get a chance to research a good replacement for the air dryer you had originally recommended, which later seemed to drop off of Harbor Frieght. I only saw one that had poor reviews.
  12. Paul, no worries, doubt I'd ever be looking for service in Orlando. xdry, Jupiter is quite a bit aways from where I live. But I'll keep them in mind, in a pinch.
  13. Tireman, it sounds like you are saying that, if I got new tires recently and they filled them with nitrogen, I could use regular air, (when I need to top them off), (dried if possible), and overtime, (due to the oxygen "leaking out"), I would not be decreasing the percentage of nitrogen in the tire. That in fact, over time this percentage will still increase very slightly.
  14. Briarhopper, interesting thought on the grass. I think I will look into pulling the grass and making an area that I can then put down plastic sheeting with gravel over that. Maybe pavers where I expect the tires to be. We've only had it since mid-April and we have been, and plan to, take it out about once a month, 5 to 6 weeks between outings should be the longest time. But I'd like to not have it on the grass. For one thing, we have had tons of rain here and the ground is so soft, the tires have sunk quite a bit into the grass/ground.
  15. Nothing right now. I just would like to have a good idea of a place available should I need any work done. I don't want to wait until a problem and then have to find somewhere. Just trying to do my homework in advance of any issues.
  16. I have a 2006 Winnebago Aspect 26A that we bought in April. Does anyone know of or have any experience with a reputable, fairly priced RV service facility, preferably in Broward County, and if possible, the west side of the county? It seems, from what looking I have done, that Southeast Florida is sort of of scant for RV Service, Dealers and Supplies. It is a Ford 450 chassis, so worst case I figure I could take it to the Ford dealer, at least for chassis issues. But that can get expensive, while a reputable and fair RV Service Facility might be a lot cheaper than the Ford dealer. If anyone has any info or experience in this regard, it would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I'm a newbie as well, but that does not sound true to me. I know my in-laws, who full-time do. When we bought our RV just this past April we had to have all 6 tires on the RV replaced. In discussing with my father-in-law, he said the spare is probably in better condition, being under a good cover all the time. The tires on the RV were all dry rotted, with lots of cracks and were over 7 years old. So we got those replaced and kept the same spare.
  18. My Norcold is apparently not in the recall. It is a Model N611LT. I notice a lot of negative posts here about some of the Norcold's, especially the LRIM 1200. How does my model compare with that one?
  19. The first time I took the RV out for a weekend in April, at the end of the weekend, when I dumped, the indicators still showed level for quite some time. I took the RV out again over this past weekend, but while getting it ready Thu night, I followed the GEO Method, put in water softener in both tanks and a bit of laundry detergent in the black tank and filled both to about 2/3 full. The campground we went to had full hookups, We got there Fri evening and Sat morning I dumped both tanks. Both of my indicators immediately went to empty. No odors from either tank. I'm pretty impressed with the GEO method.
  20. I was told that when you park for more than a couple days, you ought to put something under the tires. Specifically, that it's not good to leave the tires sitting on dirt, grass, asphalt or concrete for weeks or months at a time. We park our RV beside our house, currently just in the grass. As recommended, once I have the RV positioned, I place plastic levelers, pull forward, put the levelers in place and back up onto the plastic levelers. I usually only leave the RV parked 3-4 weeks, as we have been, and plan to, take it camping about once a month. My questions are: Is this true that I need to do this? Could I park it on rectangular paver stones, which I am thinking of putting where my wheels go? And would this do the same thing or would I still need to put it on plastic or wood, (that was the other option I was told about). Thanks for the help!
  21. Tireman, can you update the link for the pocket sized air dryer you mentioned? I clicked the one in your blog and was taken to a Mini Lathe Tool Kit at Harbor Freight. Also, what do I need to connect it. I have a small compressor with the hose screwed into the compressor and the inflation valve on the end of the hose. Not sure of hose/fitting sizes.
  22. Sorta related, will a regular 30 to 50 adapter work, (30A Female - to take my shore power cord, with a 50A Male to plug in at a CG that only has 50A service). I was told I can do this with my 30A RV, (just need to be careful how much load I put on the system).
  23. How about PRESSURE PRO vs. DORAN 360RV. Both have non-user replaceable/non-replaceable batteries. But the Doran 6 tire system sells for $100 less than the same in PRESSURE PRO. I'd consider a non-user replaceable/non-replaceable batteries system, if the batteries really last much longer and there is significant benefit regarding possible leakage from the user replaceable battery sensors.
  24. I was reading the below, (now closed), thread, over on RV.NET on TPMS Systems and had some questions. http://www.rv.net/fo...ng/1/page/1.cfm 1. As far as TIRE TRAKER vs. HAWKSHEAD, it seems they are pretty similar, just that the support may be more reliable from HAWKSHEAD vs. TIRE TRAKER due to the "mom & pop" nature of TIRE TRAKER. How do people here feel about that? 2. I read some that recommended the DORAN over either of the above. But I also see that for the Doran sensors, the batteries cannot be changed by the user. This may be costly in the long run. Any thoughts on this? I see here a lot of folks like PRESSURE PRO, but it too has non-replaceable batteries. Thanks for any helpful feedback.
