  1. It certainly was an insult to everyone here (except you and a few others according to his response). Don't take it personally, I didn't and it likely was directed at me.
  2. That makes sense, thanks. I hope everyone understands that this is NOT about not liking or disliking folks who own towables.
  3. This post confuses me (easily done!). If you would not espouse FMCA as a place to go, why would you want to pay them to remain a member of a group you don't believe in? The only reason that FMCA wants to include towables is to mine the younger RVer to help offset the costs of FMCAssist that's currently eating up FMCA's budget with an average member age of 71 years old.
  4. As well as truck campers which have all of these necessities. It about to become a bold new World. The only problem is that none of these folks would have even the tiniest bit of interest in joining FMCA. There is nothing here for them and even if FMCA works very hard toward that goal it would be years before they could become the new Good Sam.
  5. I am so glad I will be able to keep my FMCA membership money in my pocket. I let it expire earlier in the year and I can now use that money for something valuable to me which Family MOTOR COACH Assn used to be but no longer will be. Just don't need a 3rd generic RV organization (4th?, 5th?).

    Toad Oil Change

I didn't buy the Liberty so I could be part of some club. It's setup for towing from the factory and easy to tow. The fact that it's also quite and comfortable is just a bonus. When we had to work in Detroit for some part of a couple of Winters the 4WD turned out to be the ultimate bonus. It will never see a pile of rocks, however.

    Toad Oil Change

And you will never see my Liberty there either! No interest and wouldn't want to own a vehicle capable of doing that kind of driving.

    Toad Oil Change

Interesting topic. I considered that I needed to change differential oils based upon driven and towed miles as the gears are always engaged (right?) but my 4WD Jeep had a Neutral disconnect and while things are still turning in there I assume the transmission/transfer case oil would only need to be changed based upon driven miles. Does that sound right? I just had the transmission/transfer case oil pan replaced under warranty (117,000 miles!) so I must assume all new oil as of now and mileage to change starts at 0 now.
  9. Are you saying I sometimes offend? Harrumph! OK, maybe, but it was never intentional!
  10. No one has to leave the forum. Just like I am no longer a member, I am still welcome (by most) on this forum.
  11. If you have any issues or questions, do not hesitate to call RV Cams and ask. I had to do that when I had the system wired up but I was not getting a good picture. I explained what I wired to what and they told me where I had made a mistake. I moved one wire and had a perfect picture. I have had this system in place (wired with the original wiring from 1988) for more than a year and it's still perfect.
  12. Hard water causes calcium build up and can block screen and filters. Take a look and if that's the problem get a good water softener so the water coming into your coach will have substantially less bad stuff!
  13. That's a lot of perhaps and maybe's and almost's but I think we agree that Project Fi is not as good as most commercial cellular services. It certainly is not if you compare the outrageous price of Project Fi to every other service.
  14. I can tell you that that "resort" is not a place I want to spend any money. If you want to check my VIN you will only get a good look at my tail pipe as I head down the road. I have seen similar requirements in other exclusive "Class A only" resorts but most are also selling lots to RVers willing to pay the ongoing costs and I have no use for that type of RVing either. I did it once an bought a lot at The Great Outdoors in Titusville, FL back in the 90's. What a terrible mistake but at least I got out of it with a profit before the whole market crashed.
  15. Just tell them its a 2008. Next year it will magically become a 2009. I still do this with my 1988 Prevost.
  16. What size Journey? I am guessing 35' range that would work well with a 360 HP engine?
  17. If you are planning on using only heat coming from a 120v source then it is highly unlikely that there will be enough heat in the wet bay to prevent your pipes from freezing without some kind of added prevention on your part. If your coach used diesel or propane heat and you plan to use these to stay comfy while in Denver then it is "likely" that you will be just fine as both of these are usually setup to provide heat to the wet bay as well. Not knowing enough about your coach leaves us a bit crippled but this should give you a good starting point. I camp many Winters in my RV so I keep a remote thermometer in my wet bay despite having diesel heat that "should" keep everything warm. I was in a severe cold snap in Detroit a few years back and I added 2 100W light bulbs to the wet bays (one on each side) and never looked back. It also saved me a lot of burnt diesel over night when I didn't need that much heat in the passenger areas.
  18. Bring a rain coat and boots that will help you get through the mud! Sorry, there will be much to do but there will also likely be rain in Perry that time of year.
  19. Then this is a very odd way to do a roll out. It was not announced by FMCA but rather an e-mail was received by RayIN and posted above on the forum. Was that the grand announcement? Such hype for the limited FMCA/Verizon plan but nothing about this unlimited (if it is) Sprint plan? I just don't get it sometimes so please excuse my confusion.
  20. I have Sprint, Verizon and AT&T in the coach and the most often unusable internet source is the Sprint MiFi. I have seriously considered simply dumping the service but it's truly unlimited for about $50/month. My 2 year contract is up in Feb. and I will have to make a decision about what to do at that time.
  21. Cherry Hill is very nice and quite convenient. It's the most often posted park in the DC area.
  22. There are some some very good repair folks out there but they can be hard to find and they are not going to come to you. Remove the unit, take it to them, let them fix it and then re-install. Found a great guy in the Houston area and all it turned out to be was the door switch had gone bad. About $100 later I was good to go. Mine as a convection/microwave but if yours is just a microwave you might do just as well to replace it.
  23. The other warning about Sprint is the 300 "MB" per month of roaming data. That's so easy to hit that it's almost stupid. I have mine set to not roam at all to prevent additional charges.
  24. So, you save $16/month to get an extra 11GB/month. Nothing wrong with that but you will need to pay very close attention to your phone usage. I have not been able to get through a month with less than 4GB using it just for some Google Maps and basic surfing with 2 phones.
