  1. A treat? Did you mean a threat? I can't threaten a huge corporation. I can only do what I believe to be right for me. I joined FMCA in 1994 with an F number of 192XXX and have been a faithful member ever since until recently. FMCA is not currently offering anything to keep someone like me as a member and while I understand that it is your hope that I simply go away quietly into the night, I may be the perfect example of why FMCA is in it's current financial crisis. So, you can laugh at me with your faulty grammar or you can pay just the tiniest bit of attention to those of us who find no value in the various benefits offered to the 70+ oldies. The only thing I have ever wanted from this group and the FMCA magazine was information about motor homes, accessories for motor homes, motor home dealers, new offerings for motor home owners and things related to folks who own motor homes. That, to me, does not seem to be unreasonable.
  2. Are you paying any attention at all? My membership is expired so let''s consider me to be NOT an FMCA member but I hear about this great new benefit from FMCA. I come to the website to see what this great new benefit is and I find out that I cannot see what the benefit is unless I first join FMCA. Does that make any sense to you? I am concerned that it does make sense to you and this might be one of the reasons that FMCA is headed in the direction that they are. As an aside, you are also mistaken that I said I would not renew my membership. I said that I would not renew my membership if FMCA continued on their current plan and if they dropped the requirement that to be a member of the Family MOTOR COACH Assn you needed to own a MOTOR COACH.
  3. I cannot access any of the pages listed in the links. It just keeps saying that your membership has expired and offers a link to renew my membership. I have tried many routes but nothing works.
  4. Still no information available to non-FMCA members. Maybe this is a soft release and only available to existing FMCA members but you would think you would like all those folks who own a motor home but are not members to know about this new benefit. My membership expired so for me to take advantage of this offer I have to renew from my expiration date PLUS 2 years. Even so, I almost bit but I think I can get by with my current 4GB Verizon plan for the phones and the AT&T 22GB plan for $20/month plan for my computers.
  5. No, that's DIAL UP on the low end and 2G on the high end.
  6. Could someone detail out the benefits (costs)? Since I am not a member I can't even look. To me that sounds like a mistake if FMCA is trying to get new members as they will not be able to see what the benefit is to make a decision to join.
  7. Hey Jim and Chris! Good to hear from you! Sure miss having a great dinner in FL! We are in Brick, NJ these days but hope to be on the road again soon before the snow starts flying! Of course they could send us back to MI so I had better be careful what I wish for. Round 2 of the cellular service............ Tomorrow should be quite interesting. Do we jump in and get burnt again like some of the previous offers that have come and gone or do we sit on the sideline to see what happens? What to do, what to do......
  8. What's up with this post on RVillage? FMCA National Office: We’ve got big news for you on Wednesday, 11/8. Be sure to check our social media and FMCA.com this week. Hint: Connect On the Go - Round 2.
  9. I don't do this when I buy a new car, why the heck should I have to do this when I buy a new RV? Today I picked up my car after service. The car has 119,000 miles and is still under factory warranty, I was given a free loaner and the week that I had the car cost me $10 in gas. My RV cost 20 times more than my car but is built like it came from China, has a stupidly short warranty and requires an appointment months from now to get service. What's up with that?
  10. You really don't need SS screws if the installation is sealed properly as no moisture will ever reach them. A number of dealers installed KVH domes in the matter you describe and I think it was Winebago that did this with their old King Dome installations. Of course they all leaked since there's nothing to stop the water from getting under the legs on the dome side (no caulk there). Had they just put the legs in a bed of caulk and then screwed and sealed your standard screws would have looked just as the did the day the dome was installed.
  11. You can always Uber to the closest DART or bus station but I don't think getting around Dallas using public transportation is going to be the best (timely) way to see the city.
  12. You will have to help me here. The Trav'ler is the satellite Dish. If a Trav'ler is already installed and working what are you trying to figure out? Are you trying to figure out where to install the interior satellite receiver?
  13. Be careful when placing an inverter too near your batteries. This could be a fire hazard if the batteries are able to out gas such as wet cell and some "no maintenance batteries. The Samsung is often mentioned as a nearly exact replacement for some Norcold models. You might want to do a search on the Tiffin RV Fourm as a number of folks have done the replacement and at least a couple did full photo documentation.
  14. Nope, no motor required. A trailer or a 5th wheel is a vehicle. No motor necessary.
  15. It must be true if you read it on the internet!
  16. Yes, common. Even more common when dealing with Camping World.
  17. You need to make sure the coach is pre-wired for a Trav'ler and not just pre-wired for satellite. You must have the Winegard control wire up on the roof and 3 coax cables for the Dish Trav'ler. Without this you are going to have to drill a new hole and run the control cable into the RV. Double check and ensure they wire you up for the Trav'ler. This will likely determine where you install the Trav'ler as well.
  18. YES, unless they plan to keep it inside the entire time. I would recommend the "blow out method" rather than anti-freeze if they are going to be doing plumbing work. You also might want to check with the service center to see if they plan to do this for you since the plumbing lines would likely need to be clear of water to preform their work.
  19. The Matrix switch would have nothing to do with the Trav'ler. You hook up a satellite receiver to the switch. The antenna (any antenna) is connected to the receiver but does not interact with the switch in any way. If you use that setup you will be able to watch the same channel on any TV in the coach (again, no matter the antenna). If you want to watch 2 different channels on 2 different TV's at the same time then you will need 2 receivers or a Hopper and a Joey.
  20. But, of course, that's not what he said or indicated. Good cover, though.
  21. Why would you put the onus of making this business successful on the members and not the owners (FMC)? Yeah, yeah, non-profit, owner/members, it all non-sense. The business men and woman who determined that this business cannot survive under the current business model have not done their job and have given up on keeping this business the original creative minds envisioned. It's a good model as it is now and it's a watered down mess if / when they change the entire premise forged by the founders. If those running the business don't know how to run the business they should step aside and let someone who does take over the reigns. It's not the members job to pay the membership fees AND recruit new members just to keep a poorly run business running.
  22. A lock solves that problem. https://www.amazon.com/Technology-Research-34590-Universal-Lock/dp/B002OUQI3W
  23. You don't need to renew in December. Just wait to see what the results are. If they go the way the powers that be want and expect it to go you just leave it lapsed. If by some miracle it does not pass you can pay your dues at that time and you will not have lost anything.
