I doubt any of us will wearout our diesel engine if we do the maintenance. Bill

I have a small ceramic heater in the wet bay. So far No problem when stopped. I haven't been on the road with ultra cold temps-- the lowest was last spring in Raton pass it was 5 degrees down in the valley when we left and didn't have a problem driving and having any thing freeze. Just so you know wind chill only affects flesh not metallic objects. Bill

Well I am glad I was watching the weather this week. I was in Canton Texas when they started to predict this storm. I was suppose to stay until Sunday but decided to go home on Thursday morning. This was a good plan. I made it home with just a little rain/freezing rain. We got hit with sleet and freezing rain over night and today many of the roads are closed. I35 is closed going north. The news pictures look like something from the far north not the Dallas Fort Worth area. I am GLAD to be sitting at home watching it not trying to drive in it. Bill

Rich, I had thought about doing it that way but it would have meant a trip to Home Depot. I also thought about welding the bracket to a 4X6 plate to spread the load out. We will see how long this fix last. Bill

I found a couple of screws on the floor under the dinette the other day. I got to looking and they had pulled out of the base the support leg screws into. My first thought was to just get bigger screws but decided to try something a little different. I turned the table top over so I could work on it and marked the location with 2 in masking tape. I then took out the other screws. I then took a 3/8 drill bit and marked how deep to drill (using one of the screws as a guide) wrapped the drill bit with about 5 or 6 layers of tape. This acts as a stop so you don’t drill through the table top. I then mixed up enough JB weld to fill the holes. I scuffed the back of the bracket and the “wood” cleaned every thing with acetone. After filling the holes I coated the back of the bracket with JB weld and located it to the surface. I then set the screws in the epoxy. I turned them in so there wouldn’t be any voids or gaps. I used a little weight on the bracket to hold it in place and formed any excess into a fillet seal around the bracket. After it was nearly set up I removed the tape and cleaned any excess off with a sharp putty knife. Well we will see how long this holds up. Bill

I had a good project this weekend. I changed the kitchen faucet in my Bounder. Every thing was pretty straight forward. I only had a couple of stumbling blocks. I needed to get a couple of adapters to hook up the water lines and the center hole in the sink needed to be ground out a little. The problem is the base of the faucet was a little wider than the lip/flange on the back of the sink. I could have sanded down the flange, it would have been easy with a belt sander. I decided to grind a notch in the center hole of the sink that the water hoses come through to allow the faucet to set flat. I am really happy with the new faucet it is higher and has a pull out head with a spray feature. I think this is a great upgrade and wish I had done it sooner. Bill

Try Craig’s list. Personally I would go with a new base plate. You don’t know what stress or what abuse was inflicted on a used one. Bill

You can take your sample by running the tube down the dipstick tube. I had to by some ¼ tubing at home depot as the tubs supplied in my sample kit won’t reach the fluid. You can mark your tube using the dipstick as a guide that way you can get the tube in the fluid but not hitting the bottom of the pan where you can pick up contaminates that will give you a bad/false report. You have a new coach and you have a warranty I would defiantly get Coach Net in case you have a flat or need a tow. http://www.coach-net.com/ I did not by an extended /add on warranty. I would be considered the perfect person to sell one to as my coach is used and had no warranty. The reason is I read several and the disclaimers were such that they could deny nearly any thing. The deductibles were also high. I decided to self insure. So far I have had 1 claim against my self for a convection micro wave. I changed it out for $460.00. I have read several plans where the deductible was more than that. Bill

Andy, Not trying to miss lead you. I don’t have a Monaco product-- see my signature. I bought my tank from the local Freightliner shop. I don’t remember the exact price but it was around$150.00. The problem with the plastic tanks is they are not supposed to be exposed to sunlight. The sun shines right on mine through the lovers in the back. I am going to make a cover that will shade it and hopefully protect it. Mine was a direct replacement. Had to move the sensor from the old one to the new one but not that big of a deal. You might look at some of the web sites catering to big trucks. Many carry parts at a discount. Bill

Andy, As a temporary fix I used JB WELD on my tank I sanded the surface and cleaned with acetone. It held with out leaking under pressure. I finally changed mine but it was not as expensive as you have been quoted. Bill

Frank, Did you watch the update to that video? They added a bleed valve before the gauge so you could bleed down the pressure standing at the tire. Bill

You might consider going to the local junk yard and getting a set of 16 in rims for your motor home. You can find many tires that are the same rolling diameter and load range much cheaper than trying to find 17.5 tires. Any good yard will have rims that will fit and be the right load range.
