  1. While camping last week my wife complained about the kitchen sink stained real easy and was hard to keep clean. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do to correct this ? The sink is in a 2003 Dutch Star and is a one piece counter and sink combination. We thought about cleaning real good and try a sealer like we have to use on our Granite counters at home? Regards, Michael
  2. I have a real good friend who's husband has Alzheimers and took her motor home to Camping World in Denton TX at the instruction of her Insurance co. While waiting for the mirror from Monaco to arrive Camping World in their infinite wisdom parked the motor home By THE DUMPSTER. Now I don't know about the rest of the U.S. but here in Texas we have field mice and rats that love dumpsters and needless to say they invaded her motor home. The varmints ate her couch cushions and the wiring that controls her AC and heater in the ceiling . When she found the evidence of the damage upon arrival to pick up the coach, she informed the Camping World service manager Immediately . He denied the report and said she would have to file a Insurance claim for the damages to her insurance carrier. She contacted the FMCA hot line and they contacted Camping World, again C.W. denied her claim. I just wanted to warn anyone who does business with Camping World be aware, If they damage or are responsible for damage to your coach don't expect them to stand behind their responsibility to the customer YOU. Ultraglide, Marcus Lenomis is the Chairman and CEO of Camping World and he claims that if anyone is unhappy with their service or parts to contact him and he will get it taken of. (HAH, another lie from Camping World)
  3. I had the bottom slide seal on my 99 Zanzibar replaced and it was done when the basement compartments were out due to a wreck. That is the only way to access them properly. The top seals are another problem area and can be accessed with the slide out and working underneath the top of the slide between the slide and the body. Good Luck
  4. I don't know if they have one in the area but Camping World rents them.
  5. I called Newmar this morning and found out that the system is 2 stand alone converters and to use it Dry Camping I will have to install an Inverter to the system. I guess to save money I will use the generator to watch TV or the other electrical equip. and if we decide to Dry camp more we will have to modify the syst. Thanks for the replies and have a great day to all
  6. Brett, Thank goodness we are at home, but I love to go to the Nascar Races where we have to dry camp for 4 or 5 days . We were thinking about going to the coast near Corpus Christi TX soon and I thought maybe somebody had a Dutch Star and had similar equipment with the System that has me confused . Tomorrow I am going out to the storage lot where the coach is parked and get the information off the equipment. Thanks for the reply I appreciate it Michael
  7. The exact reason I was asking is because I don't know what I have and I have a tendency to get confused when thinking about the differences with the inverters and converters on the coaches today. The systems I have used in the past was the Heart Interface at either 1000 and 2000 watts respectfully( and this system is different). Calling Newmar is the next step but I thought maybe somebody here had a system similar to mine and could help me determine what I had to do when dry camping. Thanks Brett for the reply and as I said I am DUMB when determining the electrical systems that are found in the later model coaches but I find that asking questions I can usually learn something without having to screw something up Michael.
  8. We just purchased a 2003 Dutch Star and my question is how to access the 120 volt system when there aren't any controls or panels to switch the unit over? This isn't any converter that I'm used to seeing. such as the heart Interface, attached . There are 2 converters ( or inverters) on the unit that are marked with the number 45 on them but was told they only convert the voltage to 12 volts from 120 volts? I know this sounds dumb but I'm trying to understand the unit and learn how to use it so we can watch TV or use the 120 volt appliances when we are dry camping without running the Generator. Michael
  9. Thanks for the replies I sure appreciate it Michael
  10. Can anyone please give me some Information of the Fuel Capacity of a 2003 Dutch Star 4005 with a Spartan Chassis and a 350 Cummins Engine ?
  11. Below are are some pictures of our 2003 Dutch Star, we just purchased it and enjoyed our outing with the Red River Rovers, an FMCA Chapter which we are members . ,,,
  12. Rich, Well we were about 75 degrees yesterday. We took the motor home out to Texas Motor Speedway and parked it getting ready for next weekends Nascar Race. I got a sunburn on my almost bald head and it hurts LOL but I do feel sorry for all the people with bad winter weather in the northern regions . That's why we like Texas, the weather usually is pretty good during the spring time but we melt during the summer . Can't be perfect all the time . Stay warm and hope warmer weather will be there soon. Regards, Michael
  13. We have used them for a year now, no problems and the storage discount helps when you can't or don't use your vehicle. Regards, Michael
  14. On my Safari Zanzibar it is on the left rear corner of the basement, passenger side, of the coach in an enclosed compartment. I don't know if this helps but I almost never found it until I happened to see the mounting screws on the cover wall Michael
  15. I just found out that the current sat antenna is not compatible with the new D12 Receiver > Thanks for the replies specially Mr Thompson .
  16. Directv changed my receiver for a later version with a new card. The problem is my ant. won't point correctly. The only thing I noticed is the new receiver is a 2 prong where the old one was 3 prong. Is the ground on a 3 prong grounded to the case? I did find that running a ground from chassis ground turned the search on for the ant. but I can't get the receiver to download the signal.
  17. I never had any Problems with my1200 until Norcold put their modification on it. since then I have had it in the shop 3 times for repairs, and each time it was the Norcold mod that caused the problem and had to be replaced. I do use a small battery powered fan in the lower section to move the air inside and a temp sensor to keep check on the temp. It usually runs around 34 to 38 with the setting on 3 1/2 to 4. Regards. Michael.
  18. Herman, Thanks for the offer but we'll be in Indiana that weekend. I will be at the Six State rally in MO. the week before. It did turn out to be the magnetic switch that caused the problem. I took a magnet out of one of my screw drivers and inserted it in the plastic housing and stuffed it full of paper to wedge the magnet toward the sensor. It is working fine now and will check some of the larger dealers to see if anyone has a switch that I can modify to work . Thanks for the reply regards, Michael
  19. Getting ready to go on a trip and when I went out to the coach this morning to check the refrigerator I found the steps out and won't retract . I even started her up to make sure that the voltage was OK with the system, I just put in a new motor and controller about a month ago and has been working perfectly fine until this morning. I am at wit's end with this coach; always seems to be something wrong with her. So far last month I've spent over $2,500 getting the things repaired like the elect steps and dash air. With further inspection I found that the magnetic switch is not making contact . I can take a magnet and the door will close, but when I take the magnet off, it remains open. The coach is a Safari Zanzibar and I can no longer get parts for them . Any Suggestions? Regards, Michael
  20. thanks for everyones input I appreciate the feedback ,
  21. Has anyone used cetane in the fuel system for diesel engines. They claim to increase fuel mileage by 8%, clean the injectors and lubricates the engine . My coach is a 99 Safari with a 330 Cat and I wanted to check and see if anyone else has used it.or has any negative response to the product. Regards, Michael
  22. As the owner of a Safari Zanzibar I have to say I am disappointed with the rough ride I experience with the Magnum Chassis. I would suggest you test Drive several different chassis makes and see if you think you will be satisfied . After owning a American Eagle, we bought the Zanzibar only to find it very disappointing in the ride, don't make that decision as a snap judgement . (In my humble opinion) Good luck with your decision. Regards, Michael
  23. Industrial Power in McKinney is an authorized Allison Repair center. their number is 972-632-3737 Call them and they can give you instructions as to the street address. On Powerhouse Dr. off 380 in Mckinney Regards, Michael
  24. Thanks Rich, I finally found a 6 pole switch at NAPA and thanks for the info now all I have to do is wire it. The temp is around 100 degrees right now so I think I will wait until tomorrow morning while it's cooler.
