Debbie, we started out with a Blue OX patriot (box on the floor) I bought it used and thought I was doing myself a favor. I got tired taking it out and in, running it through the set up, then trying to find a spot for it when you arrive at your destination. I installed the M&G system in our Jeep and I love how simple the connection is to the coach and the installation for that matter. I did opt for the breakaway kit also. I also like that I didn't have to drill any holes in the body for cable mounting or any wires to route to the interior. Just a genius design!

Kay, I do remember that now that you mentioned it, that looked great! I like the old stores that had the metal celling's with a pattern, and thought about something like that on the walls in place of the mirrors...and I got the look, guess that's not going to happen. I used "Smart tiles" the first time from Home Depot and they stuck great until winter sets in then I find them on the counter. DW asked me to pull all of the mirrors out of the coach that are on the walls and I am looking for some ideas for that as well. The one in the photo below has me concerned, I think its glued to the wooden wall and all I can imagine is glass shooting everywhere trying to remove it. I guess we will have to take a trip to Lowes or Home Depot again, I guess I will just push the cart .

Keon, we just run through D.C. Done it many times and I agree I don't like it either. The new highways made it much better but still problematic depending on the time of day. So pack up the family and head out in the early AM. I also run the EZ Pass lane for tag holders only and scoot right past the traffic, that ends at Quantico but is still a help. If I wasn't on a schedule I'd consider alternative routes. DW usually has something planned at Disney and in order to keep the reservations I just point the car or coach and go. There are plenty of places to get Gasoline along the way and not many that could present a problem for you until you get to I-4 in Florida. The fuel stops are in congested areas and the ones that are not don't look inviting for a family. So make sure you jump on 4 with a full tank. I ran that route every year for several in our last coach. The past few years we ran the car down and just stayed on property in a hotel. My youngest loves the hotels on property so I try and keep the peace plus the view was great.- 11 replies

Ahh, the loose screws . I started saving miscellaneous wood type screws in a drawer for those times stuff decides to fall out. -
Anyone replace the kitchen backsplash in their coach? I am looking for ideas, designs and products. We had a small section of mirrors behind the cooktop, I removed them two years ago and installed the stick on rubber tile. It keeps falling down so now it's time for a change. Any ideas, links or photos would be appreciated. Thank you

Carl, the engines you are referring to were equipped with Exhaust Particulate Filters. Ha, when Doug brings his Allegro Bus over for his annual service it gets a bit tight. Ours is currently residing on its pad along side of the garage so at the moment there is room.

I check mine in the spring when I crawl under it to lube the chassis and brake system. This and the last coach sit from November through March. So far never had one leak in 9 years. If you have that many failures someone is missing something, improper torqued hub, damaged seal surface. I have trucks at work that will sit for a year pushing a million miles (not original axle seals) but none the less they sit until we have a void somewhere with a bunch of new trucks that break down or a recall where a group of units have to be parked, and they get sent out on the road for a few days. I've had engine oil leaks, can't recall a wheel seal failure, guess it's possible.

Brett, thank you for the idea, that was a good one. Carl, my thought was to buy 5 and keep one for a spare. I want them all to match in size, especially if I'm going to keep a spare. My steers are three years old now with 19,000 miles on them so buying seven is not an option, too much life left in them. Not many manufacturers out there in this size. I'm going to call our tire supplier Monday and see what's available and pricing. my drives are dated December 2012. Still look new, no checking on the side walls. Maybe sell the good two on Craig's list, common tractor trailer size 295/75R22.5

Well the time has come to begin shopping for new drive tires. 295/80R22.5. I wanted to wait another year but I just discovered my drivers side outer is almost flat and the inner is resting there carrying all of the weight. Not worth the risk, they are already the wrong size and weight rating and 4 years old. so it's time to say goodbye and see what brand. I think I am going to put two of the four new on the steer and bring them to the rear inner so I have fresh tires up front.

Desertdeals69, snap some photos and post them in the gallery before you drive off and it gets sloppy from the road spray.

Andrea1131 welcome! if it were me I would do some research on Forest river products first. 100,000 miles is not bad if it was maintained properly depending on the engine. good luck with your search.

I had the breaker fail on the generator in our old coach on. The dealer I bought the replacement had it in stock, told me it was common. -

Puff, check the breakers on the generator. Take them out an ohm them and do a good visual of the area. They are exposed to the elements and I have heard of problems before. Also check your transfer switch for any signs of failure, it might not have switched over when it saw the generator on. -
Switch in the toilet room. There is a sink and toilet. No water pump switch in there . got one in the kitchen, bedroom shower area sink, wet bay, none by the toilet.

I found this video to help explain how an Aqua Hot system works. I didn't notice the basement heat in the video but works as an additional heat exchanger, that heats itself, tank heater strips and a 12v heater in the wet bay.

Should You Get Extended Warranty On New Motorhome

HAHA, when I go to the store they always ask if I want to renew my warranty or roadside assistance, my response is always the same...."Renew, I never had it in the first place". I get this look and they say "Never mind", have a nice day. I also get AARP in the mail, I called them and explained I am not old enough, the guy on the phone.... classic..."but you own a motorhome are you sure you are not old enough" ? They kept sending it, so I filled it out.... they declined me, that put a stop to it, apparently the phone call wasn't enough... -
Tracey, do you have hot water? I am assuming that when you got to your destination you turned on the electric portion of the Aqua Hot (if plugged into shore power). What did you use for heat throughout the night and was the Aqua Hot turned on Electric/Diesel or both on and the "System Heat" switch on? Does your coach heat the interior via the aqua hot heat exchangers while driving? I was told by Aqua Hot when we bought our coach its almost impossible to freeze the coach with the system, as long as its turned on and functioning.

Congratulation's! I Googled it and that is a nice looking Motorhome. Keep in mind the chassis has a 36/36 warranty through Ford and from my experience you wont use it or if you use it wont be often (if it is still being built on the Ford E-Series chassis). I had that same chassis (few years older) and the only time it saw a dealer was for chassis related recalls. Good luck and best wishes with your new coach -

NAPA, I have no TBN since they asked for a virgin oil sample to compare. Since I flop between Mobile Delvac (in the sample above) and Shell depending on the best deal.

So my oil analysis just came back, I am scratching my head as it looks like I changed it prematurely but it had 14,000 miles on it . I dumped all of the motor oil in the generator and Coach engine prior to parking for the winter. Photo below;
