  1. Bear, I did not remove any insulation, in fact some was falling and I stapled it back into place. I spray foamed over the roof vent after installing a smaller screen over the existing screen, I installed a screen over the side wall opening (on the back side of the removable access panel) and spray foamed over the screen. The unit I purchased is not a double door, more like a standard household refrigerator (fridge on the bottom freezer on top). I decided on this specifc unit due to the lack of technology it was equipped with (I figured it would last longer without the gadgets) and its size, no modifications were needed to the cabinet. It just slid (after I removed the wheels on the bottom) in and I took standard cabinet brackets (L Shaped) and screwed them to it so it will not move on the top and bottom of the front and just the bottom on the rear. The most difficult part was locating the correct color stain to trim off the interior so it looked good.
  2. Carl, sorry for your loss. I would call them instead of emailing. I have emailed their customer service already on my issue, no response.
  3. That will only work on a gas coach built after 1996-1997 depending on the engine manufacture. The DP even the new ones with OBD use a 9 pin round connector.
  4. Carl, I keep having the same problem, I have Velvac Mirrors, if you have the same on the front there is a slotted chrome cap that unscrews located on the arm just below where the head pivots and an allen key is used to tighten. As soon as I find a better/larger mirror these are going into the trash. They keep coming loose and I cannot see the rear of the coach through them when properly adjusted. For some reason the blind spot mirror is almost half the size of the regular mirror which makes the regular mirror to small. Funny I thought it was my eyes so I went and had them checked....not my eyes.
  5. I just found this by accident on youtube and thought I would pass it on. Seemed like a lot of good information and answers to questions I see a lot of on the FMCA Forums. 6. Wow, you did get lucky. I have ran the Tappen Zee many times, only until recently has it been a problem, seems like the driver mentality up there combined with the road construction around that bridge area makes it much worse.
  7. john kelley, Sorry to hear about the cost but great you found the root cause. Sounds like you will be able to run down the road much cooler now.
  8. Brett, the attached link did not work, I found this one. Great video by the way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CseABfJL1FM
  9. Wildebill308, what time of day did you cross the GW?
  10. I find this interesting that there are so many different procedures to accomplish the same end result based off of each manufacture and in some cases the same manufacture, different model. My slides will only operate if the side bay doors (under the slide) are closed and the ignition key is in the OFF position. I am not sure which battery bank they are connected to but I have brought them in and out with no external power source or generator on many times, honestly never gave it any thought and the engine cranks over just fine after. I believe they are made by power gear; there is an electrical motor with a drive shaft extending to the left and right that has a gear on the end of each shaft, similar to a rack and pinion design. Very basic and simple design. I can tell you that when I am plugged in or the generator is on the chassis and coach batteries are being charged.
  11. She hates bridges and water, that combination won't sit well for her. We will see how the rest of the year goes and if the kids talk her into it.
  12. Wildebill308, have you ever went 287 to 87 to 84 and accross? While it is longer it much less stressful. I just went that route for work in June to Maine much more relaxing than the top of NJ crossing into the corner of NY and CT.
  13. I agree with netop43, I just traveled through that area last month, the Tappen Zee is under construction and the traffic on the east side of it can be horrible the lanes shift abruptly and are narrow, besides the construction and traffic the people make it even worse, they have no respect for themselves or anyone around them. I have never traveled over the GW and I avoid that area at all costs. I took the route mentioned above on the way up, it was a nice country type of drive, in CT the roads were busy during the day but not stressful at all. My return trip I took the Tappen Zee. I would not do it again in a car let alone our coach.
  14. At the time I went to my local hardware store and asked what paint to use. I can't remember what it was. Do you mean the "Roof mount 360 Siphon"? If so I have two at home I have not yet installed, I like the simplicity of this design and the low profile stance it has. I bought them right after we bought this coach and have not found a need for them so I have not installed them as of yet. My only concern is the snow here pressing weight onto the top, they look flimsy.
  15. Same here, my wife also loves paper maps. I use it as a back up tool but no back up leaves me feeling uncomfortable, especially in something that big. I have been considering buying the FMCA road atlas, in fact if the store was up I probably would have by now.
  16. Thanks Brett, I had no idea such a gadget was available. This will help with a few odd things that keep popping up while I am driving so I can verify that it is just a guage problem. My trans temp only warms up to 150 degrees, sometimes it goes backwards and the volt meter dives to 12.8 from 14.0 only when the dash lights are set to bright, as I dim them down the volt gauge rises back up, no other lights have any effect on that gauge but the dash dimming. I ordered one now I can monitor with a digital display and I will feel more at ease.
  17. OK, are the connections the same? Is it just a plug and play so to speak? Oh yea, I had plenty of throttle to go, I just didn't want to push it that hard.
  18. Brett, I was around 1700-1900ish, I manually brought the transmision into 3rd to raise the RPMs to keep the pump and fan spinning faster. Just curious, can I change the shift pad to the newer design that shows you what gear the coach is actually in?
  19. Yep, I must have a bad one, and the company wont stand behind it. All I get from them is "keep updating it, it will get better" I guess Myrtle Beach SC did not exist when I last updated it a few months ago. On a the trip prior it tried to take us down a dirt road, which I am not even sure it was a road. given its dimensions it might make a decent wheel chock for a travel trailer.
  20. Our old coach had a serious black tank odor problem, I think it was caused by the black and gray tank sharing a vent. I installed the 360 siphon and it cured ALL of the odor from the black tank after that. The only problem I had was the plastic on these does not handle UV and NE winters very well and I would find myself replacing them every year. I eventually painted the last one and it was still good after 2 years.
  21. Update; we just returned from a trip upstate PA through the mountains. Ambient temperature was 92 degrees ,100% humidity and the sun was just starting drop off, I pulled an 9% grade (4 miles of this and 3 miles at 7%) in third gear at 35mph fully loaded towing our jeep. I started the hill at 45mph and 180 degrees on the gauge at the top of the hill I was at 205 degrees and the fan sounded like it was on high, as I started to descend the mountain it immediately dropped back to the 190 degree mark never went that high again through the remaining rolling hills all the way to our destination. Is this normal? I am planning on cleaning the radiator and CAC one more time just to be sure I have a good baseline since it was so easy to do.
  22. Jameson13, I do not have a Dynasty but mine is located near the Primary air tank, which is the front tank behind the front axle, the compressor is on the drivers side of that, I can see it while laying under the coach. Be sure to use jack stands when you crawl under your coach just incase something happens and it settles down.
  23. Sorry to hijack the topic, but its awning related. My slide toppers are Carefree, although I am not sure of the model I think they are Omega II's (based off of the photos on the Carefree website). Anyway I need the arm lock tool so I can fully extend them so they also cover the side windows without using a ladder. Anyone know where I can purchase this tool or should I not full extend these (design flaws etc.)? I do not have the gear type lock on the roller, just the locks on the tubes and pull straps with pull strap eyelets on the slide to hold the awnings out. From the manual it looks like a standard awning "cane" is all I should need but the pole locks have a square protruding out that looks like some sort of tool with a female hole would lock over it to either push up to release or pull down to lock. Anyone have these on their coach that could provide me with some operating instructions based off of experience? I was concerned if I use the standard awning cane it will slip off and scratch the coach. Thanks.
  24. I looked through all of the reviews and the posts on here and decided on two. Either Blue Water Key or Point of View in Key Largo, I will let the wife make the decision, my guess will be Point of View so she doesn't have to go over the long bridge .
  25. My coach has them in the steer axle and the Wheelmaster balancing discs on the drive axle (no idea why the previous owner had this arrangment). I have no issues so far...but with the last steer tires and these I only have accumulated 8000 miles. Not enough time for a real evaluation, so far so good.
