Rhodesia/ an interesting moniker. Story there??

I wish that I could help you. We took an introductory airline trip from Baltimore to Reno in the mid eighties. El Cheapo. Eight days. Rented a car for the stay, and found our way to Virginia City along with a lot of other neat places. Don't remember the route, but really enjoyed the town. If ever in the area we would go back. Hope you get there.

Today, reporting points along I-40 to Kingman Az and I-10 to Tuscon Az indicate that the southern route is a shade cooler. Granted/ spending the night in Flagstaff would be pleasant, but about a 400 mile day to get there from Victorville. I would take I-10 . It is a shorter drive and if memory serves, fewer pulls.

Joe/ with all of your contacts, can't you find a metal shop to make you a couple? Bill Edwards is a body and fender guy. Maybe he could do it for you.😉

Agree with Joe about the danger of running a tire if it was run at that pressure. Our 2003 Phaeton has a chuck for an air hose in the compartment directly under the driver's seat. If you can get enough air in the low tire to drive to a nearby tire facility, I would take that chance, but at a slow speed.

I found an AC thermostat on EBay. Might be worth a try for the motor.

Justification Spreadsheet: Using Motorhome For Business
obedb replied to cdsuggs's topic in General Discussion
My justification doesn't require a spreadsheet. I found the desire to own one in a bucket full of things I wanted to do before advancing years took over.😉 -
Norcold Refrigerator Lawsuit Settlement

ARP unit. What is that? Vaguely remember reading about some gizmo that reduces the chance of a fire. -
I guess rust is not an issue in arid Lake Havasu City, AZ. Took (95) south off of I-40 a time or two. Looked nice from the distance I had to observe at 71 feet in length. Did not want to explore. Just didn't feel like putting up with the AZ scales and the CA bug station. I also have always enjoyed CA 62. With the broken field running I have been known to do, I missed the entire LA megalopolis and joined I-5 atop Grapevine Pass. Would do it a motorhome if I felt the need to visit the pleasant weather in Santa Maria to Pismo Beach. Central Coast. One of the destinations in CA that I do miss.

DD/ Spend a little more and get chromed plastic nut covers. No rust. They last a very long time or until stolen😎. There is a galvanized gripper inside the cover, but it holds up very well.

😎😂. Always said I wouldn't hit the ditch and maybe not make it, because of another's stupidity. That is dark but very funny.

Picking fly specks out of cow____ aren't you. Logged many miles as a career trucker. Have seen some spectacular crashes involving autos, and a some involving 18 wheelers, but oddly, in spite of a very good memory, I don't recall many involving Class A units. My dad started RVing in the late 70s and we started with a rental unit in 1986. Because of that I had an interest in RV happenings. Still shaking my head about all of the concern on the OP's part.🤔

The video of the class A blowing a tire has been on this website before. Could be wrong, but I think the driver and passenger walked away from it.

Something as simple as checking oil level turns into a major discussion.🤔 Amazing. That is why I offered the mention of a dipstick that could be used for an oil check while idling. Common sense/ check before first start of the day. If you have an engine that is a user, then you probably want to check the level after fueling. The oil is warm and will quickly settle to to existing level when as if it was cold. Oil types and blends are a worthy discussion if you have the misfortune of owning one of the new toys. How did I make it for so many years without blowing something up due to lack of lubrication? If I had a "user" I added what seemed appropriate in spite of the level not being on the add mark because with larger fuel tanks and some motorhomes also have them, I might run some distance before shopping for fuel again. My 2 cents. Have at me if you want, but I know what I know and it is time tested.😎

Florida Park For Class A January and February?
obedb replied to wilgroup's question in Destinations/Attractions
Google RV parks in Webster Florida. There is one in particular that gets good reviews. -
We used a fllojet with our travel trailer. Had a 35 gallon poly tank in the bed of our F-150 and while dry camping, it was a real help to extend our stay. Worked very well. I used alligator clamps on the pos and neg wires and hooked up to a battery.

Have used Centramatics for many years, mostly on trucks, but I had them installed on our Phaeton a short time after buying it. They do a great job. Little pricey, but you can take them with you as long as your next unit has the same bolt pattern and compatible tire profile. IMHO they are worth the money. I have found their customer service to be excellent when you call and if you have the info that they need, sizing will be easy.

Did not say it can't be done. Like any effort in extreme condition's you can have a good day and say "shoot, that was nothing", but Ihave been across the Mojave many times in summer and winter. As I said, I had to do it. Never liked it when high temps were showing up on my thermometer read out. Some of the things that I saw!!! The majority of break downs happen in the summer months. Big trucks, cars, RVs, etc. If there is a weak link on your unit, there is a large risk that you will know it when crossing the Mojave in either direction. There are few reporting points, fire departments can be far away, and cell service used to be spotty, but maybe that has changed. I would never plan to be in an area where I had to cross a desert in the summer months in our coach. Retirees can plan their travels to avoid that. U If you do choose the Mohave as a route, keep your eyes on the shoulder as "You Keep Your Eyes Moving" ( Smith System of Defensive Driving ) and you will frequently see evidence of vehicle fires. Sometimes quite large indicating a complete burn down.

Our Phaeton is in very good mechanical condition. Especially the cooling system. Never upset on the hardest pulls in Colorado. Could it make it across the Mojave in summer weather. Would bet it could. Would I try it? Nope. Not until cooler weather sets in. Did it many a time in heavily loaded tractor trailers because it was part of the job. No more. There are a lot of pretty sites within a reasonable drive of Spokane and temps are mostly moderate.

If you decide on I-5 and then 58 to Barstow and then I-40 east you move over to 99 south to Bakersfield and then onto 58. Or if you want to miss Bakersfield, you leave I-5 at exit 329 and head east on route 223 to to 58 east. Ran that many times with eastbound produce from Santa Maria. I-40 across the Mojave in California is always very hot this time of the year. I have seen 113 degrees in Needles CA after dark. Daytime temps will probably be like nothing you have seen elsewhere in the US. And extreme temps are the norm in western AZ on I-40. One other thought/ If you want to miss the congestion around Seattle-Tacoma you can take US395 exiting I-90 at ex 220 south to the Tricities (Richland,Pasco,Kennewick). 395 will take you to I-82 east to I-84 west to Portland. I-205 will take you around the busiest parts of the Portland area to I-5.

Hope that our's predates the motor problem. I installed it in August of 2015. We love it.
