Florida Park For Class A January and February?
obedb replied to wilgroup's question in Destinations/Attractions
Google RV parks in Webster Florida. There is one in particular that gets good reviews. -
We used a fllojet with our travel trailer. Had a 35 gallon poly tank in the bed of our F-150 and while dry camping, it was a real help to extend our stay. Worked very well. I used alligator clamps on the pos and neg wires and hooked up to a battery.

Have used Centramatics for many years, mostly on trucks, but I had them installed on our Phaeton a short time after buying it. They do a great job. Little pricey, but you can take them with you as long as your next unit has the same bolt pattern and compatible tire profile. IMHO they are worth the money. I have found their customer service to be excellent when you call and if you have the info that they need, sizing will be easy.

Did not say it can't be done. Like any effort in extreme condition's you can have a good day and say "shoot, that was nothing", but Ihave been across the Mojave many times in summer and winter. As I said, I had to do it. Never liked it when high temps were showing up on my thermometer read out. Some of the things that I saw!!! The majority of break downs happen in the summer months. Big trucks, cars, RVs, etc. If there is a weak link on your unit, there is a large risk that you will know it when crossing the Mojave in either direction. There are few reporting points, fire departments can be far away, and cell service used to be spotty, but maybe that has changed. I would never plan to be in an area where I had to cross a desert in the summer months in our coach. Retirees can plan their travels to avoid that. U If you do choose the Mohave as a route, keep your eyes on the shoulder as "You Keep Your Eyes Moving" ( Smith System of Defensive Driving ) and you will frequently see evidence of vehicle fires. Sometimes quite large indicating a complete burn down.

Our Phaeton is in very good mechanical condition. Especially the cooling system. Never upset on the hardest pulls in Colorado. Could it make it across the Mojave in summer weather. Would bet it could. Would I try it? Nope. Not until cooler weather sets in. Did it many a time in heavily loaded tractor trailers because it was part of the job. No more. There are a lot of pretty sites within a reasonable drive of Spokane and temps are mostly moderate.

If you decide on I-5 and then 58 to Barstow and then I-40 east you move over to 99 south to Bakersfield and then onto 58. Or if you want to miss Bakersfield, you leave I-5 at exit 329 and head east on route 223 to to 58 east. Ran that many times with eastbound produce from Santa Maria. I-40 across the Mojave in California is always very hot this time of the year. I have seen 113 degrees in Needles CA after dark. Daytime temps will probably be like nothing you have seen elsewhere in the US. And extreme temps are the norm in western AZ on I-40. One other thought/ If you want to miss the congestion around Seattle-Tacoma you can take US395 exiting I-90 at ex 220 south to the Tricities (Richland,Pasco,Kennewick). 395 will take you to I-82 east to I-84 west to Portland. I-205 will take you around the busiest parts of the Portland area to I-5.

Hope that our's predates the motor problem. I installed it in August of 2015. We love it.

😏 Just an aside. I remember many years ago, a truck engine with marks on the dipstick for checking the engine at idle. Pretty sure that it was a Caterpillar/ maybe a 1693TA?
-
To truckers from the south, it meant Lower Alabama. Pinto beans and cornbread, after eating all of that Yankee Food.

If the OP lives in the Spokane area and just wants to get to the south entrance of the canyon. Heading east on I-90 to Butte MT and then heading south on I-15 through Salt Lake City to I-70, and then east to US89 would be a good choice. Take US89 south into Arizona. Say on US 89, not Alt 89. US89 will take you to Arizona 64 West to the South Entrance. Have traveled US89 several times in a tractor trailer over the years, but wouldn't have been welcome on 64.

Kaye is right on about the weight of a 42" Plasma. We have one in our home. Still works perfectly, but is heavy. Can't bring myself to get rid of it.

Air Zone 2 Not Registering On Thermostat
obedb replied to leopoldml's topic in Systems and Appliances
Had this happen on our first coach. 1988 Georgie Boy II. Good reputation for workmanship, but when the thermostat was hooked to the a/c harness, butt connectors were used. Oddly this happened several years after we bought the unit/ one of the butt connectors was not properly crimped causing the wire to separate from the a/c harness. Had to remove the thermostat from the wall and and carefully pull the wiring out far enough to troubleshoot. It was an easy fix when found. It was also the rear a/c. Rough ride back there because of multi leaf springs. Vibration finally caught up with some shoddy work at the factory. Will not take too much of your time to check on that possible cause. Good luck!- 2 replies

I still like our 12" by 18" with a thickness of 2 3/4 " white oak pads. Heavy yes, but sturdy for sure. Of course not everyone has a saw mill a short distance away.

Your ultimate destination is the Grand Canyon? Seattle is just a waypoint as well as LA? Tom and Desert Deals both have good ideas. Let us know so maybe I can jump in there with a suggestion.

San Francisco International Airport
obedb replied to oscarpower's question in Destinations/Attractions
Just a thought/ your RV is towed and impounded for$$$$ to get it back, and possibly damaged in the process, while you are on the way to and from the airport. Your son could contact you via cell phone and take a cab to your location. -
You are welcome. One of the three options will satisfy I am certain. Otherwise you folks would have run to hundreds of miles out of the way to get to Rio Rancho. US550 south out ot Durango to I-25 will get you almost there, and it is 4 lane and well thought of by most every one.

Interesting! Are there any hooks? Looks pretty. Tried a place on the New River on the WV side . Mistake!

It is a peaceful ride. Always enjoyed it. Yes all of the way to I-15.

Bill is spot on/ If you were on I-90 east bound and want to avoid Chicago Metro's horrendous traffic, the toll way around the mess is your only reasonable choice if you are headedi into Michigan or northern Ohio. Where are traveling to? Could be another way if we knew.
-
Bill/ always a good idea to have a Plan-B. That is all that I was suggesting. Your way is a good way if you are already in Jackson. If a member is heading north from I-80, maybe West on US26 to Swan Bay and 31 north would also be a good choice. In a toad. to and from Jackson on 22 would as, you have pointed out, be a very good choice. Speaking of good choices/ when westbound on I-80 and dreading the thought of going thru the Salt Lake City metro area on your way to the northwest, US30 is a good choice. Will share my insight on the beauty of that if anyone wants. It still is a favorite of mine, but never saw the need to mention it because so many travelers are locked and in love with interstates.

I receive one or two a day. If they are of no interest, wham!!

If you enjoy your RV, then by all means be proud of it. Regardless of where you go you will probably see something fancier with a much bigger monthly payment. Our coach is easily shamed by the fancy stuff we see, in spite of it's good condition. Our advantage/ Betty paid cash for it. I am just the driver😉.

Was scratching my head also. Liners pit from lack of additive, that makes a mess and calls for an in frame.

US 16 from Buffalo to Worland. North from Worland to Greybull on US16-20 combined. US14 west to Cody. There is a short cut west before you get to Greybull, but it saves very little. Stay on major roads in that part of the world.
