  1. Never argue with a cop especially a NJ cop. Apologize if you can and might get a warning. Heat Soaked Turbo on the Jersey Turnpike ? Come to think of it the warning sign has always indicated 5 minutes when I was there many time since the Eco Police evolved.

  3. If things get out of control, can she snug up to your jeep for additional braking power?😂😄 You want to get to I-25 which makes me believe that you are headed north?
  4. Bill/ I have an iPhone 7 with AT&T as the carrier. Have heard of using the service as a "Hotspot" with an iPhone. Flying blind . Do know that I am tired of marginal park wifi. Normally use an iPad not hooked to a carrier for surfing the web. Your thoughts please.
  5. La Veta Pass/ Eastbound it is fairly steep. With an exhaust or engine brake and your guidance, Linda will be OK.
  6. Nope! Too dangerous! Never been there! Don't dare travel that road! Where have you been? It is a wonderful road.! I have written about it several times recently ? Been over it maybe forty or even fifty times over the years. Probably even more. An absolute peach of a highway. Especially beautiful in the spring with snow up top or late fall with the same! Elk abound in the fall late afternoon as you climb toward La Veta Pass. Just look to the south. Would prefer my ashes to be scattered in the San Luis Valley in one of the many pretty locations. To me that valley and roads in and out are almost spiritual. Peaceful. A thing of the past to me.
  7. Very impressive. The FMCA magazine does have a nice section on used coaches. Good Luck.
  8. It is the ones you don't.😁
  9. Over the years Sanibel Island has been featured in articles about gator attacks. Watch your step if you decide to explore off of the main trails. Had two inlaws that lived there for years. They retired handsomely from he school system, and moved to Gainesville.
  10. We are not talking about anything unique to Cummins, Tom. Very basic stuff. An oil change, with fuel and oil filter replacement. Speedco will easily be able to detect chassis related problems as they grease the chassis and drive shaft. The engine air cleaner will probably be low hanging, and they will be able to quickly replace that. Might even have a replacement air dryer filter/dessicant. You do not need to spend manufacturers labor rates for basic service of an engine. Used Speedco for years and they work from a pit. Not crawling around underneath on a creeper. That makes the guy doing the service standing as he looks up for possible problems easily observed. One does not need to spend Manufacturers labor rates for basic stuff. Check my profile. I do know my way around things diesel powered, air braked, with many grease fittings that need regular service. Usually every month and 1/2 or so. Whole lot different than running a motorhome for at best 20,000 miles a year. Spending manufacturers labor rates while waiting on an appointment for basic maintenance is just not necessary. If it might be time for valve adjustment or anything that only a Cummins Tech could properly do, by all means go to one, but not for an oil and filter change and a grease job.
  11. Lookup speedco.com to maybe find a sight near you. You can get an oil and filter change (oil and fuel filters) along with a grease job for around $300. The driveshaft is an important part of the grease portion. They are setup for RVs along with their mainstay, commercial vehicles as well as RVs. At least while you struggle with what else to do to get things up to requirements you will have eliminated a lot of worry. They know what they are doing, first come first serve, no appointments. Used them for quite a few years.
  12. The quickest and safest way is US15 north from Gettysburg and take the PA Turnpike (I-76) westbound just south of the Harrisburg area. I-70 joins the pike at Breezewood PA and leaves at New Stanton Exit 79. US 30 west of Chambersburg does get quite curvy and steep. It is doable in an RV, but you probably would tell yourself " Never Again." A good second choice would be south on US15 to I-70 West at Frederick MD. Join the pike at Breezewood PA and head west. This choice would save you some on the tolls. Mileage between either is about the same.
  13. If you are just trying to protect your dash from cat claws and don't want to spend a lot of money try bathroom rugs. We bought three brown rugs from Walmart. Covers the area easily. They have a backing (rubber?) that keeps them in place. Wash them or replace them. No one has ever noticed what they are, and we travel with two large cats. One 14lbs/ big guy just over 15lbs. Of course if you feel the need to look really cool to your guests, you can spend a lot of dough for (maybe) a perfect fit . Who knows?
  14. Have never seen a vehicle without some form of air recirculation. And I mean going back a long time. May be called different things from manufacturer to manufacturer. Before the ozone hole supposedly caused by R-12 and enviros losing their minds, I measured just above freezing on auto air using R-12. Our lowly entry level 2003 Phaeton has air recirculation 😉. I run our gen set for roof top air when traveling. Freightliner has a v belt turning the engine water pump, and everything else is powered by the serpentine belt. The a/c compressor could seize up, trash the serpentine belt and make a mess out of a trip. Wish that the a/c compressor was powered by the v belt. I do run the left defroster fan aimed at me. Helps a bit when headed into the sun.
  15. Thank you to both.
  16. The San Luis Valley average elevation is a little above 7500 feet. The summer night time temps average in the high 40's to low 50's. Humidity is low with daytime temps around 80 give or take a few degrees. Even on a hot day and they are few, get into the shade and enjoy. Largest Alpine Valley in the world. The largest concentration of RV parks are on the western side of the valley, near and around South Fork. Elevation near 8000 feet. Temps even more pleasant Just one couples' opinion, but Sante Fe is not our choice, although we know a lot of folks seem to like the place. We plan on spending a month or more in the San Luis Valley this summer. If you are a steam train buff, one runs from Antonito Co to Chama NM and back daily.
  17. Thanks Bill. Probably a good idea to keep it simple. Something with some wax. Use Walmart Blue Coral on our cars.

Met Bill in Gettysburg last September. He had his empty Featherlite with him. Took several thousand pounds of Pennsylvania Oak back to Evergreen with him. Broke the mold when he was made😎😎.
  19. Hope this question belongs here. The original owner of our 2003 Phaeton told me the roof was one piece aluminum. Whatever it is/ there are no seams end to end and it appears to have been painted white from the factory. It is time to wash the roof (black streaks abound); is there a preferred roof wash? I plan on standing on an extension ladder and using a brush on an extendable handle. Might decide to just get on top😳 but would rather not.
  20. Think that it was bigger. 50 amp coach. Needed adapter to plug into 30. TwoACs.
  21. Gotta have some trucker in him? Freightshaker chassis! I still call anything Freightliner related that way. Few on this forum( my guess ) have driven a Cabover Freightliner circa 1960s. Everything rattles. The doors were hung outside the cab structure sealed with big rubber gaskets. I drove one that was so rattle prone that I often thought that the dash board was gonna fall off. If true, he was ready for a big ride of a class A.
  22. Did you meet Art Bell in Pahrump?😄 Probably no snow but some chilly nights a few. The town has really grown up over the years. Sharp looking ride. Where in the Northern Rockies?
  23. Talking about two different animals there Desert Deals. What year is your coach? Probably newer with considerable improvement plus propane. Onan Diesel Water Cooled are a quantum leap from what we had in our first coach. Glad that you are happy with it. You would not have enjoyed our 1988 Onan gas unit.
