  1. Sorry Brett it was the Bosch system and still no fix that I have heard. Walt
  2. Brett the early Monaco Knights and HR along with the Workhorse chassis had the Bendix system that was a nightmare, you could be going down the road and have to get on the brakes hard or medium hard and one or more of the calipers would not release and in some cases causing it to get hot enough to ruin everything. My son in law had a 02 Monaco La Pamila on a workhorse chassis coming from the West Bank over the greater New Orleans bridge when one piston stuck they smelt something burning and had to stop on the off ramp on the N O side the piston was stuck and it almost caught on fire, this happened a few more times until he sold the coach 07 . 3. I have a friend with a 02 Knight that has the Bendix disc brake system that have been giving him trouble since 02 and now he thinks he has found a fix. He is flushing the brake fluid each year. He says that the piston material that was used for the Bendix piston will absorb moisture and will stick under hard braking. According to him he has not had another piston to stick since he rebuilt them a few yrs ago and flushes the total system every year. He uses a bleed kit he got from Harbor Freight for around $30. 4. And if you do get one go to http://www.kiasoulforums.com/ for great advice and how to add a OEM cruse for under $70 , a Keyless remote for under $20 plus lots of other things in the how to/diy section.
  5. I do not want to argue the void of factory warranty deal but I will say they would have to prove that caused a or the problem according to the Magnuson- Moss Act passed years ago, dealer or KIA can't just say its void.
  6. Yes you can tow the standard 6 speed 4 down, no to the auto trans. I used the Roadmaster EZ 4 Brackets and was a easy install along with the Roadmaster Brakemaster the only help I needed was setting the front cap off the car on to a blanket to prevent scratches and back on the car, it was installed with only a little trim for the brackets that would not be noticed if brackets were removed Walt
  7. Mr Smith you can tow the 2014 and 2015 6 speed standard trans KIA Soul with no problems I talked to Kia in GA and got the TSBs from KIA Korea that shows the 14 and 15 are approved by Kia and would be glad to share with you if you have the standard 6 speed. I have been towing a 15 Soul base 6 speed for over 2000 miles, its a fine little car, we enjoy this car and it is a quality built car. We do have one recall i will past it. Recall Number: 15V123000 Recall Date: 03/02/2015 Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL Problem Summary: Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Soul and Soul electric vehicles manufactured July 21, 2013, to January 8, 2015. A section of the accelerator pedal may bend and fracture. Consequence: If the vehicle has a bent or broken accelerator pedal, the driver may have difficulty accelerating the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. What Owners Should Do: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will add a supporting rubber underneath the pedal stopper, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 24, 2015. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC116.
  8. Roadmaster and Blue Ox are both good, I have always used Roadmaster until recently, when I need to go to a 10,000 lb tow bar the Roadmaster Blackhawk 10,000 will cost $950+ but you can get a Blue Ox Aventa BX7445 10,000 tow bar new on EBay for $629 including 10,000 cables ( I paid $575 last year) you will have to buy the Roadmaster ends if you go with the Roadmaster Brackets. I also use Roadmaster Brakemaster toad brake sys, it uses the coach air to mash the toad brakes, I used a 48 inch LED light strip (Ebay) Attached to the bottom lip of my tail gate of my F150 for my toad brakes, that way the turn signals won't be covered by my toad brake lights when my brake sys mashes my toad brakes.
  9. I dont know of any 4 WD vehicle that can be towed on a dolly without doing damage.
  10. I do know of one forum, IRV2 has a classified section and I will past a link to the toads for sale. http://www.irv2.com/rvclassifieds/showcat.php?cat=22 Walt
  11. I have towed a 2011 Edge and found it to be one of the best toads I have ever had, quite lots power just be careful about the Edge with the warning device on the front of the car it will cause you to have to buy a tow bracket that installs high up on the toad, so high you will need a upside down drop hitch or some have moved the device (name?) up on the car to get the brackets that install lower on the toad. I have towed Hondas and they are good toads just not in the power or comfort range to the Edge in my opinion .
  12. Emoter, I am betting you have a Shepard 100 gear box, you should be able to see the info on the gear box. The info Jim furnished is good info there are two long threads to read and both has extent info on the Roadmaster Chassis and it's short comings.
  13. I towed a 2010 4 cylinder Equinox for a while but it had a mysterious oil usage problem, you could drive a 1000 miles at times and no usage then the next 500 loose 2 qts and Chevy claimed that was acceptable and in range for oil usage ?? I got tired of arguing and traded it off and I was not the only one with this problem, so be sure that the oil usage problem has been corrected. Other than that and a lot of road noise it was OK and good fuel mileage.
  14. Yes they do make a adapter, I use a Blue Ox 10,000 tow bar to a Roadmaster base plate on a 2013 F150, to a 2011 Ford Edge and a 2014 Chevy Spark and now to a 2015 Kia Soul with no problem, I like the Blue Ox 10,000 tow bar (especially the price) but also like the Roadmaster brackets.
  15. It may be a gov reg but I would think it is not necessary as the air compressor can keep the pressure up with a 1/4 air line leaking and if the compressor can't, you have a problem with your air compressor. Fasteddie if you will look to the rear of your left or right rear dual ( I used the right) you will see a the valve actuator (name ? ) on the coach frame with a line running to the rear brakes can, air the coach up and remove the fitting from the actuator on the frame and have someone to mash the brakes to prove to yourself that it is the right place to connect air will escape when the brakes are mashed. Remove the hose fitting replace with a 1/2 inch ( I used brass ) T and all thread nipple put the hose fitting back in connect the brake hose and use the other port to connect the 1/4 inch fitting for the Brakemaster, note be sure to use DOT approved air quality plastic line for the Brakemaster hook up.
  16. Brett its mechanical, Check the little 1/4 inch plastic line should be black it can get against the exhaust manifold and burn a hole or come loose.
  17. The air compressor cycling every 10 minutes could be lots of things but one thing to check out is the inversion valve because when you are in the park mode the leak will not show but going down the hwy it will leak. To check, air the coach up chock the tires shut the engine off do not engage the park brake and listen for a leak at the rear axle.
  18. Thanks Brett you are right as usual but pretty sure the Dyn was designed for more than 20,000 as Monaco did tag a lot for 22,000 on the data tag before it dawned on them that only 20,000 single axle was legal at the time. Carl it has a lot to do with age on reaction time, I an 77 now and started riding Bikes (1948 45cc HD) in 1950 and have owned a lot of different bikes, HDs, Trumps, Suzuki's, Kawasaki and a bunch of Honda's and the best riding bike I ever rode and owned was a Honda Gold wing and would love to be able to ride a new GW but in my late 60 I was just to slow to react to a emergency. I have always rode with what I call the big picture and to expect the unexpected but still have been on the ground a few times so yeah I am to old. Walt
  19. Carl if you have to replace the switch check out the ESCO LPT50-BRD at about $150 I think ESCO switches are probably one of the best made.
  20. I bought one in around 2002 or 3 right after they went on the market and it does what they say it does, I like the feature of setting it for a side wind or the crown in the road and of course the safety feature.
  21. Thanks Carl you are right and that is what I would do but now way to old to be riding big bikes, also my coach is at a little over 21000 lb on a 22000 axle with full fuel and water, we are week ended campers only with very little in the bay's, Actually Monaco shows my rear axle at 20,000 because that was all that was allowed on a single axle by the Fed at the time, I called A tec at Eaton with my axle mod and s/n and was told it's good to 22,000.
  22. Out of curiosity I run the figures on my Dynasty for the Cruse lift and a Harley cruser at about 900 lb with fuel and oil and came up with a total added weight of 2450 lb + or - 5 or 10 lb to the rear axle. I have seen a lot of single axle coaches with these lifts but I would not do it but would not hesitate to add one to a tag coach.
  23. Carl any good news from Honda yet? Put enough pressure on them and good things sometime happen.
  24. I'm with Herman on this you have to be careful of the weight you add to the rear of your coach as the further to the rear of center of the rear axle the more it will multiply the weight and could overload the rear axle and cause the front to be too light. I will attach a file showing how to figure the effect. Rear Axel weight.pdf
  25. I have heard good things about the RVi2 brake but I think Herman has the best RV brake for a Diesel coach with the M&G out there the only problem they are a bear to install, my choice was A Roadmaster Brakemaster because I change toads often and the ease of installation.
