Carl.....You'll be able to give us the lowdown 3 hours in advance! Jim.....We won't be at 3 Rivers but plan to hang around Nashville for a couple of days. Through my travels I've never been able to spend any amount of time there but my brother has. He'll be with us so he wants us to see the sights. Buy your viewing glasses soon. You can get them online and very inexpensive. Blake

Joe, That is going to look great! Can't wait to see pictures when it's complete! Blake

Hi Keon, Our juju has been for the most part the good kind during a camping life of over 50 years. Actually, the only time I've had a problem was when tent camping in the high Sierras and the bad guy into our food box and ate our last package of cinnamon rolls we had saved for the next morning (I knew he was stealing it but being the kind hearted soul I am I let him alone.....the bad guy was a bear!). For coach camping, our tow bar is locked to the receiver. The safety chains and umbilical are placed in a bay and our table, chairs, grill are put right up next to the coach. Once inside we are "prepared Texans". I am actually on higher alert when we are stopped for fuel or at rest areas for brief breaks. Blake

Hahaha...a few cases of beer and hard labor!

flyinglow, We towed with a Roadmaster dolly with electric brakes for several years. Had only one problem and that was a tire blowout. No damage to vehicle but the dolly fender got bent up. Actually, my dolly is looking for a new home! Blake

And vice-a-versa Joe.......we can't find fresh pierogis anywhere other than the salt belt! I got hooked on them when living in PIT. I miss those but not the cold! Blake -
Roland, If you're going to remodel your current coach, and if you decide to redo the floors, I highly recommend Ernie Eckberg in Weatherford Texas. His nickname on this site is Erniee, You can see a detailed description of how he converted our tired floors into a beautiful floor using engineered wood in the Coach Modifications section of this site. That is a nice looking coach. Do you find yourselves busier now that you are retired? Blake

Info Needed On Toad: Grand Cherokee?
blakeloke replied to spearfish1@gmail.com's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Bill, I've only heard of problems with the Cherokee. Not Grand Cherokee. There's a difference. We tow a 2016 Grand Cherokee and never had had a problem. Blake -
Info Needed On Toad: Grand Cherokee?
blakeloke replied to spearfish1@gmail.com's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Spearfish, You can find them from time to time in the classified ad section of the monthly FMCA magazine. Are you a member? For example: the November '16 issue has an '07 Grand Cherokee with a Blue Ox set-up for $7,700. Blake -

Ron....I really like the new sofa! Another great mod for your coach! Carl.....Progress on the fridge is stalled out. The new fridge won't be in until 21 February. In the meantime I've been working on my forklift. Joe helped me through a packing reseal of the high pressure steering ram (success) and now I'm fabricating new steps out of bar stock. Have also been sanding and repainting! So great to be retired! My brother thinks I'm on crack! Will continue to post pictures of the fridge process when we get back on track! Blake

Carl, Blue Bell of course! My current beer of choice is Coors Light. But, if you hand me a beer, any brand, I will gladly drink it with you. Here's the link to the Ernie Floor topic. We couldn't be happier with that mod! Blake

Bill, I've always assumed, maybe incorrectly, that this would be called a 3-way valve (inlet, tank fill & house supply). I hope OP lets us know what was wrong. Blake

Nice work Ron.....I really like the hand scraped wood flooring! Blake
-
Uh....Joe....next time you come through Texas please feel free to hook up at our house. No problems with shooting fridge doors around here! Blake
-
Ron, that is a beautiful install! I like it! Wish we had the room to do that! But our furnace takes up too much space. Blake

pcowan, Wow, you are gonna have fun! We love the Grand Canyon and all points around there! Don't worry about the grades. Your coach should be fine if you just watch your speed, rpms and temperature. For me, most important thing to watch is weather. Winds can be pretty furious in OK, TX, NM and Arizona. And, weather in March may bring you snow in the higher elevations around Williams. We frequent the trip out west often and much more prefer I-40 over the southern route of I-10. But when weather is an issue we take I-10. Have you considered Carlsbad Caverns? Blake

I Googled "Bras for Automobiles" and there are several custom shops out there. Maybe best thing to do is contact one of your local auto upholstery shops and see if they have experience making them They are simple and use snaps to attach. Be careful with them because no matter how tight the fit they will wear the finish on any surface when going down the highway. Car, truck or motorhome. Blake

Or, ask local mechanic shop if they would take it. Most have vendors that come by and pick-up scrap.

Hey Keon, We bought some of those when our coach was brand new. I kinda got like Herman and quickly tired of taking them out and putting them up. So, only used them for a couple of trips. I've turned into a minimalist when I can. Two chairs, a small grill and a foldout table to put the grill out. I only put out the lawn rug when I'm on dirt or gravel. And when I'm outside I leave the basement door open with the slide tray extended to reach the ice chest. Blake

Hahaha Bill......that's the way our NoCold operated! Freezer was a good way to thaw out food. Wonder if I'll get my $1.97 for the class action suit against Norcold? Blake

Kay...great tip. Will do! Thanks. Joe....thanks....we're pretty excited about this upgrade. Maybe me more so than Deb just from a safety & cold beverage perspective. Uh oh....will have to keep an eye out on the ice cream. I guess gallon containers are gonna fit now. Will keep you all posted. Blake
