  1. Oh wow...nice. I think I've seen that type of mat on DIY channel. Holmes on Homes. Will ask Ernie about it.......thanks! Blake
  2. I had to do a small PEX line modification a few weeks back when installing a new toilet. Had never worked with PEX (only PVC and copper) for water systems but using the PEX and standard fittings (non-Sharkbite) it was simple and quick. The crimping tool was pre-calibrated but came with a gauge tool for calibrating. Actually, we got all of the parts and tools at Orange Box.....believe the line was Sharkbite brand. The tools and hardware will stay in the coach since our stick house is copper. Blake
  3. Thanks all........I'm not sure of what Ernie's process is to prep the sub-floor. But I do know he'll have to level the areas where the OSB came up with the Mastik. Bill, think we will go 100% wood and use area rugs to add a "warmer" touch. Certainly will ask Ernie about heating the floors too. Will post after pics in a couple of weeks! Blake
  4. Tomorrow I drive the coach up to Ernie for a much anticipated flooring change. Carpet was getting a bit worn and we had a few broken tiles. So, Deb and I have been demolishing the old carpet and tile (not an easy job) and can't wait to see the magic that Ernie does. At the same time, Victor will be recovering the sofa and captains chairs. Here's some pics.... And will post more of the "after" in a couple of weeks, Blake
  5. Kimm, What is the amp rating that you are plugged into? Have you tried using your genset? Blake
  6. Kimm, Have you tried cycling the 120v A/C breakers? Blake
  7. Tireman, Thank you for the post and links to videos. I've already sent the link to RV: the Critical Factor to friends and family! Carl.....I'll order my TPMS today! Blake
  8. We mostly watch the news, history, natgeo, velocity....lately we've been watching the political pundits with regard to the upcoming elections. We use Direct. Blake
  9. Chuck, Welcome to the forum. I think you have a good plan. Our basement door seals are still good but I use this other rubber foam seal for other things around the house. the 3M adhesive cleaner works great to remove the old glue and residue. True Value stocks the seal. Blake
  10. PJ, Yes....Our heat pumps takes awhile to start producing. However, I have to select the mode I want on the thermostat. For example: fan, A/C, heat pump, furnace. When I select heat pump, the distribution fan comes on and it takes a bit to get heat (same as Herman's). Once the pumps start producing heat the coach gets warmer over time because of circulation. I did a google search on the newer True Air thermostats and see by looking at pics that there is a select switch for electric heat vs. gas heat. https://winnebagoind.com/key-features/features/trueair Perhaps give Winnebago a call and ask their tech department to help diagnose? Blake
  11. pjfromny, So I understand what you are saying and what systems you have. Your propane furnace (ducted through the floors and lower walls) works. But, the heat pumps, using the air conditioning systems, don't? Blake
  12. I found another tool to carry in the coach since we have Pex water lines. Pex/Sharkbite clamp tool and a small package of 1/2" pex clamps. A clamp removal tool would be handy but I used side cutters and pliers. Blake
  13. Joe......have you seen these? https://www.zoro.com/danco-toilet-flange-repair-kit-steel-1-12-in-10672x/i/G9974745/?gclid=CPLGt9Xc888CFUpNfgodcdgHJA&gclsrc=aw.ds Blake
  14. Hey Joe, I hear you.....with the old toilet we wouldn't flush at night (#1) just so it wouldn't wake each other up. Monaco built our system with a flange exactly like you would have in your house. Interestingly, they used 5" wood screws to secure the toilet to the floor. I connected the new toilet traditionally using the flange bolts that were supplied. No wax seal but rather a rubber gasket.....was supplied. Foot pedal barely fit with about 1/16" clearance. I didn't clean the grout and caulk since the flooring is gonna be replace in a few weeks. Repair part for old toilet is $189. New Dometic 320 with CW discount was $289. Blake
  15. I can't really answer your question about Demco but we've been using Blue Ox baseplates and tow bars for over 10 years without a problem. Past 8 years we've been towing a Dodge Ram 3500 and recently started towing a 2016 Grand Cherokee. Blake
  16. TOFEL, Congratulations on your upcoming retirement and a huge THANK YOU for your service to our great country! Blake
  17. stonegl. We had a fab shop build our hitch extension to accommodate the height of our Dodge Ram. Like Carl's Jeep, our Ram is lifted 4" with 35" tires so we needed to raise the height and make it so the receiver end would allow the tow bar to be level to the ground. We also added length to allow us to open the engine cover to cool things down in the engine bay when parked for the night. I think a fab shop could build you an extension and make a "false" receiver for your bike rack. I can weld but did not want to do the job myself but rather leave it to the professionals. Thus using a fab shop. Blake
  18. Well, I jinxed myself. Our Thetford Aria went bad and wouldn't flush. It was giving us a "grinding" sound while flushing during it's last days. We are still a few days from getting home so instead of holding off on fixing until I got home we looked for the valve actuator part (CW didn't have in stock but quoted $189!). Instead we bought a Dometic 320 foot pedal flush. I had to re-plumb the line behind the toilet and after a couple of hours we were good to go (figuratively ). The new toilet is much quieter than the electric. The footprint is a bit smaller than the Thetford and I can see some small tile cut marks that caulking would overcome. Not going to do that since Ernie will be putting in new flooring in a few weeks. I'll remove the toilet, install a cap and give him a template to work with for the new flooring. Blake
  19. F44875, West Coast Customs comes to mind. http://www.westcoastcustoms.com/showroom I'm not sure if they do private coaches but their website shows they've worked on some. We do have a couple of great shops in Texas though! Blake
  20. And if the salesperson tells you the model can be towed 4 down, verify by looking at the owner's manual. Go through the process of putting the vehicle in "tow mode" and make sure the steering wheel either doesn't lock or it can be unlocked (trust but verify!). Blake
  21. Gunther, Welcome to the forum. Below is an excellent post from expert TireMan regarding tire age. I personally would not run tires that are 10 years old. Our coach came with Goodyear tires. For me, there was a noticeable difference in ride between the Michelins we have now vs the original tires (for the better). Blake
  22. Never thought of that Carl! Thanks....will do it! Blake
  23. Roland, Have you tried to recycle the breaker by turning off then flip back on? Many times a breaker may look like it is closed but actually it's open. Blake
  24. Completely agree with comments above. We changed out our "in-motion" dome for the Winegard Trav'ler earlier this year and added HD TVs to the bedroom & living room. Awesome reception and full HD! The only downside I've seen so far is that the Trav'ler doesn't always stow and gets locked up in a "semi-up" mode. There's a recalibration sequence to go through when that happens......just a bit irritating but has always worked. Blake
  25. Carl. Our headlights were never really bright enough for me until a total change-out of the whole assembly. The headlights on our Windsor uses the Lincoln Navigator assembly. I can check the bulbs ##'s if you want. Blake
