  1. Carl, do you have a separate bank account for the TSD debits? I am getting a TSD account this week. Don
  2. He can. I snow skied with Carl 52 years ago in Colorado, often. He taught me how to ski. He always wanted to teach me how to ski jump, being the Norwegian Jumper he was but I was always reluctant since I don't like to break bones and bleed. One trip to Aspen we were on the top of a mountain and a blizzard developed. Carl said "we need to haul a$$" and get off this mountain. So we did. Me following him of course. Suddenly he decided to take a "short cut" through the woods. I lost sight of him then suddenly found myself 10 feet in the air having skied off a small cliff. I "jumped", landed on my butt, covered in snow, and there was Carl, smiling. He said "see, jumping is great fun". He knew exactly where that jump was and to this day I don't know how he knew where to turn through the woods considering we were nearly blinded by the blizzard blowing snow horizontally. Thanks Carl, I remember it as though it was yesterday. Sorry to the OP for this off-subject post. Make your destination reservations NOW! And, have a good trip, slowly. Just remember, when you look around at our beautiful country you're seeing things those people in that jet flying above you are not seeing. Don Don
  3. Brought to you by none other than "A n a l o g C a r l" 😎 I, too, have a Trucker's Atlas but it is a little too big to hold in one hand while tooling down the Interstate wishing my Delightful Wife would wake up and help!
  4. Last time we went through Houston eastbound and down on I-10 in our MH, towing, we stayed in the HOV lane versus TxTG and I was sure to be there when going through the checkpoints. But, we got to one checkpoint where there were only two TxTg lanes and no lane labeled HOV. We went through of course, but about 5 weeks later I got a bill for $36! Don
  5. This all makes my head woozzie. I think I'll have a couple of shots around 5 o'clock! Don
  6. Don't get me started. There are bourbon distilleries all over Texas. Spirits, yes. Bourbon, yes. But, if Congress says it, it must be correct!!!!! Yeah, right! Don
  7. I had a different experience today. Doorbell rang. Amazon. But, there was actually a person standing there. I opened the door and a nice young lady stood there in her brown uniform and said, "I haven't delivered anything here in several days and I was just checking to see if ya'll are OK?" I had a serious conversation with DW. Don
  8. Oh yes, alcohol burns off while cooking. Set your timer for 2 1/2 minutes for cooking steaks. Take a few swigs of your whiskey. Turn the steak and cook for 2 1/2 minutes more. Take a few more swigs. Take the steaks off and let them cook on their own for a couple minutes. Take a few final swigs. Whiskey gone. Alcohol has completely burned off while cooking. Geezzee, guys, get on board with this!!!!!!!!!
  9. Thanks, I didn't know about the FMCA/TCS card until receiving an email from FMCA yesterday. The TSD Logistics seems more versatile, but you still have to go to the trouble of "funding" another bank account as opposed to keeping the TCS card funded. Oh well. Don
  10. Is this new FMCA/TCS Fuel Card partnership the same as theTSD Logistics program? Don
  11. CF just beginning for me. We cleared ranch of cedar but there is some re-growth. The Christmas Tree is an example. My grandsons would revolt if I cut that down. Same with Mesquite. Cleared it but it is growing back. Time for some chemicals. Trees, not me! ha ha Don
  12. After many years of road trips I finally found it!! Don
  13. In Texas, we don't do fake antlers on the truck! Don
  14. Merry Christmas to all from our Texas Hill Country Ranch. If you look close you can see red balls on the tree. We call it our Jerry Lee Lewis Red Balls of Fire Tree!! Don
  15. Maylon Miller and Bob Tiffin are smart guys to sell out at the top of the market. Each for $300 million plus! Don
  16. In our travels we have only run across a few RV parks which provide HC sites. They are usually close to the restroom facilities and office. We don't need that but some people may. What we need is space on the passenger side for our UVL lift to deploy so my wife can enter/exit our rig. This amounts to about 8 feet total. It usually works out, or we improvise. We are not the kind of people who complain and whine and moan and groan. We just enjoy our travels and go with the flow. Don
  17. Herman, No offense taken at all. Yours is a good question. We don't have H/C plates on the MH but do on the car we tow. Not sure what the advantage would be to have them on our coach. My comment was just to chime in on the fact there are a lot of wheelchair bound travelers out there, especially vets from the middle east.
  18. Lots of reasons, Herman. Our coach is wheelchair accessible for my wife who is paraplegic and uses a wheelchair full time. She is stubbornly independent but we appreciate conveniences whenever they present themselves. We also have more stories than you can imagine about those who have handicap placards who abuse the privilege and park so that those like my wife who need the space to offload from a ramp on our rampvan can't because someone parked on the hash marks or just used grandma's placard so they could get a better parking space. Happens all the time and it is a sad commentary on our society. If you need it, use it. If you don't, don't abuse it, please. Don
  19. It is about Power. Plain and simple! Don
  20. Ditto, Carl, on the one life.....live it. We are going to Alberta and British Columbia next Spring if the Canuks will let us in by then. On to either the west coast or the Dakotas, etc. after that. Went to Mardi Gras in Lafayette and Galveston this year but other than that just several trips to our ranch. DW is having shoulder surgery next week, so we'll be laying low for a while. While she is recovering maybe I should travel to the election battleground states and teach them basic arithmetic. Don
  21. I read somewhere that hogs can double their population every 8 months. You would have to kill something like 2/3 of them to stay even with their current population. Impossible. I have trail cams on our ranch in the Hill Country of Texas. They can show up most any time of day but are mostly nocturnal. I have several pictures that show as many as 30-40 hogs in a group. They come and go from ranch to ranch tearing up fencing where they cross and crops along the way. Other wildlife usually will not associate with them. I have personally seen deer at one of our feeders and when hogs come in the deer leave. They must be pretty repulsive for a deer to leave corn on the ground and trot off. But, their hams and backstraps are good to eat. Enjoy your day and kill a hog! There are only two types of landowners in Texas. One who has hogs and one who is about to have hogs! Don
  22. Jim, I think a call would be better. They seem pretty old school when we were there. Who knows? There is a great trout fishing stream on their ranch land next to the park. They allowed me to fish there. It was mid May, and snowing when I walked over there to wet a hook. Don
