  1. You have to remember...Cheaties never prosper. Ken
  2. In the ham radio world, we say that an omni-directional antenna operates equally bad in all directions. Ken
  3. The Sensar IV and Wingman still out perform any of the other RV antennas. With antennas, you want two things...height and more metal in the air. The Wingman makes the antenna very directional. Ken
  4. There is no right time or perfect time to trade. Remember that any RV is a declining value asset. Just take it and use it as much as possible and enjoy it. Ken
  5. Well welcome to the forum from another Ken and Susan. Our daughter and her husband have a Minnie Plus and love it. Ken and Susan
  6. I will not leave my CC with a multi thousand limit in the hands of a minimum wage clerk. My wife will go in with the card and get the pump started and she stands there and keeps an eye on the clerk and card. The pump cut off is set by the station and not the CC company. Ken
  7. Problem is we are a 5th wheel and are 58 feet nose to tail plus the bike carrier. Kind of hard to unhook and pull the beast with a bicycle. We have been told by a few that they went on it at 60 ft and no issue. My luck would be I'd get stopped. Ken
  8. Actually the correct term is "Global Climatic Change".....but we have all been told by our less then truthful Congressional leaders that it is all a "Chinese Hoax". Ken
  9. You need to contact a tax accountant and not depend on 'Free" advise from the internet. Ken
  10. Bill we are in Port O'Connor and to day was light drizzle and fog. Can't see across the road now. Ken
  11. The Garmin 760RV with lifetime maps is great, but you have to use it in conjunction with a map. It will not always pick the best route. And it does route you differently in RV mode. Like most things you have to learn its limits and how to use it. Ken
  12. That is El Nino or La Nina. We are in Port O'Connor since Dec 28 and we have had very few sunny and normal days. We have had lots of rain, drizzle and fog. And it is not Global Warming....the correct term now is Global Climatic Change. Ken
  13. We are keeping the Escapees Roadside Assistance. We have had GS and Coachnet over the years and decided to dump GS after a call out to change a tire on the dually. GS said that there would be an extra charge if they had to add air to the spare. This is a major crock. The truck arrived with an air compressor and pneumatic tools, so he had air. Ken

    Impact tool

You lubricate the stud threads, the torque value is much lower.

    Impact tool

Impact tools are a great time saver if used properly. Wonderful to get the lugs off. but when reinstalling, just use the impact tool to snug the lug nut up, especially on aluminum wheels. After snugging, use a torque wrench set for about 1/3 of the recommended torque. Tighten the lugs in the proper pattern then go to 2/3 the torque value and finally to the full recommended torque. Then after 50 to 100 miles, stop and recheck torque to recommended value. After another 100 miles, recheck the torque again. Finally after 500 miles, do a final check. Doing this will insure you have the lugs torqued evenly and properly. I know this sounds like a nuisance, but it is the best way to set wheel lug torque. The tire shops that run the lugs up hard and once are taking the chance of over stressing the bolts and taking the material beyond it's yield strength. Once a bolt is taken beyond its yield strength, it is ruined and is now weaker. It is set to fail now. Ken
  16. The weatherman may be wrong a lot, but I'll go with him over a rodent. Ken
  17. We had Safeco for two years and then with no claims, tickets and for no reason, jumped our rates almost 30%. It pays to shop about every 3 years. Ken
  18. People usually do not have any empathy for a single statement rant. Ken
  19. Bruce, we had to go to 3 different locations, before they could understand that all we wanted was the short exam for the class A and not the CDL. We had talked to the commercial enforcement office in Austin and had a name and a phone number. The last place we tried, we gave them the officers name and number. they disappeared to the back and about 15 minutes later, they came back and told us we did not need the CDL test, only the short test over a couple of chapters. It sounds like they are trying to give you the CDL test. Ken
  20. Not new. This has been around for years. Last RV we sold by private sale was handles by direct bank transfer. When money was confirmed by my bank, the title was signed and the RV was released. Talk to your bank about how to avoid these problems. Ken
  21. If all else fails, pull the 12 volt fuse that feeds the furnace. Ken
  22. The one thing that the 5 year wax will cover is loading up the dealers wallet. Read the warranty. You are probably required to have the dealer apply a yearly reseal to keep the warranty in effect. Keep you money in your pocket and use one of the Dry wash wipe on wipe off waxes every year of 6 months. Ken
  23. We find most of Texas very friendly, but we are native Texans.....my wife claims that i will stop and talk to a fence post if it will stand still. I find the least friendly areas are Austin and Dallas....to many foreigners there. Ken
  24. We like central Texas, but the property values there have gone insane as well as the taxes. Austin has grown and sucked in all of the nice smaller towns near it. Our preference on is east Texas. Lots of trees, hills and lakes and the property values are not insane yet. Ken
