You should be able to go to the website of one of them to check the requirements. I've used several of them in the past. Some are great, some not so much. King's Bay Georgia is excellent! wayne77590 Report post Posted December 6, 2016 You really have to check with the installation. Example: A few years ago the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station opened up its MWR facilities to civilians. I believe there was a yearly fee and once you were registered you could use the (certain) facilities. It has been awhile since we have been to Corpus so better check before just showing up. I think that the American Legions, DAV, and VFW and other veteran facilities usually require that those using the facility belong to that individual group. Again, it is wise to call and check. hdrich Report post Posted December 6, 2016 I have used several military fam camps and they all have had the same requirements; Some form of military ID by at least one member of the family which includes DOD personnel. I do know that the campground at Moody AFB, GA opened up to civilian travelers a couple of years ago so it would be wise to check on your destination to see who they accept. The access for on base RV parks is usually for Active, Retired (Military or DOD), or 100% Disabled Veterans. Typically if you do not have a military/DOD identification card it is difficult to get on base because of the security issues. A DD214 will not get you access. We just bought our RV so we are newbies. We bought a 2016 - 36' LA Allegro Open Road Class A coach. We're at the learning stage. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

TimeTraveler Report post Posted December 22, 2017 There are some bases that allow or are affiliated with the Military such as the two near Ft Campbell which allow Civilians or non retired non DAV Military. wayne77590 Report post Posted December 22, 2017 Corpus Christi NAS allows a MWR Guest Decals and MWR Guest Cards for $20 per adult and $10 per child under 16 that is good at Category C facilities, Gulf Winds Golf Course, Outdoor Recreation/Marina, RV Parks and MWR food establishment Once having the pass just go through the gate with your guest cars and displayed decal. Many military installations allow civilian guests in their RV parks, but the kicker is getting them on the base. For the ones we have visited so far all that is needed is a member of the military community, active or retired, to be in the vehicle with the other occupants. Dependent ID cards work just as well, so DW will ride in the other MH to go through the gate. Another kicker is that the guests cannot go anywhere by themselves and need an escort - sponsor. If they wish to leave the base in their own vehicle they would have to go to pass & ID and register for a temporary pass. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
hermanmullins Report post Posted December 22, 2017 Thank Wayne for the information. We have, with good friends that are retired military, gone several times to Ft. Benning's Fam Camp, Uchee Creek. It is a beautiful Camp and is off the base and does not require going through the Gate. When we go onto the base we ride with our retired friends. Went though Cap Lejune with My Uncle, retired 22 years, while he was still living in Jacksonville. But we didn't see the RV Parks. He and my Cousin were stationed there. wayne77590 Report post Posted December 25, 2017 Timetravelr, The Camp Lejeune RV park is at Onslow Beach and as such it is location, location, location, but one still has to cross a road to get to the beach. The sites are close together. I found it humorous that the traveler next door was BBQ'ing and if I sat in my pilots seat I could probably reach out with tongs and pick up some good eats. Cherry point is nice after the remodel. There are many others along the Eastern Seaboard that are nice. Let me know your travels and I'll see if we have been there. We prefer to stay and Military Campgrounds when we travel but we don't go out of our way to do so.
