allstarr Report post Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) On the search for the elusive true WiFi, that doesn't get throttled at 20 - 50G, I came across this site a site with 3rd party renters who offer mobile wifi (which can replace home internet), with a focus on rural people, and rvers/nomads. Here are the main sites. I hope that others can explore these, and offer their experiences, or at least start with the basics of what they offer. https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/att-unlimited-rental-plans/ https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/verizon-unlimited-rental-plans/ https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/t-mobile-unlimited-rental-plans/ These are expensive, business connections, go through one the big 3 (I didn't look for Sprint, due to the merger with T-mobile), and they generally have a monthly gig amount averaging 400 - 600GB/mo. The ones I made note of was the lowest of 200 - 700GB, starting at $79. Here are the ones I've looked at, with their starting prices and "suggested average monthly use." While they do indicate you can watch movies, gaming, or similar, they do suggest trying intense activities (one specified bitcoin mining) can result in your account being canceled by the network management. https://trifectawireless.com/ $129/mo; This is very rarely an issue and any usage under 800GB/month will be fine. (The average home internet usage is 400-500GB/month.) https://neverthrottled.com/ $90; It is unlimited, but we are asking everyone to keep it under 400gb a month and 80gb a day. https://www.nolimitdata.net/ $90; 900gb https://support.nomadinternet.com/kb/true-unlimited/is-your-service-really-unlimited $99; 400GB https://www.unlimitedmobilewifi.com/ Tmobile/sprint: $96.51; Ver: 126.51...I did not find anything on daily/monthly GB. https://potentialinternet.com/ $79; 200 - 700G. hermanmullins Report post Posted December 14, 2020 I have Sprint Connect through FMCA for $49.95 per month. It is truly unlimited. We live in the country in an all metal home and it works great. The wife watches Netflix all the time with out any trouble. All the prices shown are over priced as far as I am concerned. Herman
moonwink Report post Posted December 14, 2020 Allstarr, thanks for the links. Lots of good information. It shows the FMCA is as good or better than the other options available.
wayne77590 Report post Posted December 14, 2020 Herman, does that price include phone calls and messaging also, or is it just for data using a MiFi or other hot spot?
hermanmullins Report post Posted December 14, 2020 Wayne, it is only a Jet Pack with truly unlimited data. We have AT&T for our phones. Now that I feel good about Sprint Connect I do plan on cutting back my data on our phones. I have had as many as 4 devices on at the same time with no problems. moonwink Report post Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) You might be able to use it with a MagicJack Internet phone but it is nothing but a WiFi hotspot. For sure you could use it for Zoom calls, Skype and FaceTime. Edited December 14, 2020 by moonwink

Just go into settings and activate WiFi calling.

Ditto Doc, I use T Mobile smart phone, sometimes a little spotty, but with wifi calling I can call from almost anywhere as long as wifi is available.
hermanmullins Report post Posted December 15, 2020 Has anyone with either a "T" Mobile or Sprint phone seen any difference in their service since T Mobile purchased Sprint? Herman

wayne77590 Report post Posted December 15, 2020 I got rid of the $70 a month phone bill from AT&T years ago and went with Magic Jack. The app on the cell phone does not need Wifi to operate. As DocJ stated, and my iPhone will call over WiFi when connected. This past year we went from MiFi to unlimited on iPhone. I have noticed a large reduction in speed when using the AT&T Hot Spot. barbara@bruffner.com Report post Posted May 12, 2021 I just got this Sprint MIFI and am getting less than 1 mb up and download speeds. I have 3 bars on it. Anyone know whats up with that? Do I have to do more to get better speed? UGH!
manholt Report post Posted May 12, 2021 We got a 100 GB from Sprint/T-Mobil 2 weeks ago for $50 month, the pack cost me $399, but we are getting 4/5 bars in both house and coach. We live in the country! We also have Verizon for $50 a month & no issues, but it does slow down after 25 GB.
quint Report post Posted June 24, 2021 I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the Sprint MiFi offered here on FMCA. I like tha fact that I can "Throttle" (pun intended) the cost per month to $13.99 during month its will be idle up to 9 months per 24. Does anybody have any solid reasons I should not get this package and have a better alternative. We are weekend worriers with a few trips out that are a couple of months at a time. Thanks
docj Report post Posted June 26, 2021 At the moment T-Mobile is offering 100GB for $50/mo plus a free 5G Inseego M2000 hotspot with a Cat 22 modem and something like six layer carrier aggregation. As far as I know the FMCA plan is still tied to Sprint which was always the most limited of the major carriers and I believe the hotspot being used is a several years old model. Sprint customers can use T-M towers but it's not clear if they receive all the features of the T-M network.
