elkhartjim replied to john_harris's topic in Type A motorhomes
I would check the diesel exhaust particulate filter. If it is clogged it will cause these symptoms.- 8 replies

Towing should be covered in the owners manual.

Keeping Tow Car Relatively Clean
elkhartjim replied to davidsuzanne's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Biggest problem is its a black car. It wil get dirty sitting in a closed garage. I tow a black GMC Canyon P/U and when it get dirty, most every day, I wash it if it bothers me. When its been raining, forget about it. -

Do you realize you're responding to a post made in Oct 2023? -
I remind you, don't turn the engine off while it is in regen mode. I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue.

I suggest calling PTL Engineering; they design and manufacture the door. https://ptlengineering.com/

If I'm understanding you correctly, the transmission is in neutral and you can rev to 1700 rpms. High idle on my 400 Cummins is about 1000 rpm's. What happens would you put it in gear? Does the power (RPM's) drop? If this is the case it could be a clogged fuel filter or clogged DPF.

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk

Wow, Bill. And when it does come on every rv headed to the rally will be trying to fill up so it will take forever to buildup any pressure. -
I cruise on the highway at 70 mph and 1800 rpm's. It should regen at 1700 rpm's.
-
If the regen light is on don't turn the engine off. If its driveable, i recommend taking it out and driving it like you stole it for at least 100 miles.. With only 19,000 miles in 11 years, it probably needs lots of maintenance done. Diesels are designed to be driven.

Get the measurements of each product from their data sheets and compare. -
Just be ready for an exciting ride. The problem is that for a stable tow, the front end geometry is not correct for it to be towed backwards. The toe, caster and camber are all set for the vehicle to be stable when moving in the forward direction. If you have a locking steering wheel that can present another problem.

I towed a 2" lifted Jeep for several years without any problems. Both Roadmaster and Blue Ox recommends that the towbar is within 3" of being level. You may or may not need a drop hitch for the motorhome.

Just curious, who is Don?

I noticed a change after Herman passed and Joe Leamont was released as forum moderators. I asked several weeks ago if we had a forum mod and somebody posted a link that there are several but apparently they don't participate.

Bill, that Blue Ox 4325 model was discontinued several years ago for this reason. The aluminum shafts developed metal fatigue until they snapped. Blue Ox then redesigned the towbar with steel shafts and finally completely discontinued the aluminum towbar. Shame on the OP for not having a supplemental braking system with a breakaway feature for the toad. He is lucky that the toad didn't collide with another vehicle.

Bill, according to the website, there are four administrators just none that appear to be active or at least only one admin has ever made a post and he has only made one.

Is this the same problem you had in 2015?
