  1. Mac, check out this link. The information might be what you are looking for. https://lci1.com/assets/content/support/manuals/om-coachstep.pdf Rich.
  2. Jerry, See Brett got things started for you. 1. Remove the couch and replace it with 2 recliners. It has been done-have a friend that installed the recliners and likes the change. 2. Remove the recliner and table behind the pax seat. 3. Install a 35" flat screen (LED or LCD) TV in a drop-down retractable cabinet in the area behind the pax seat. These 2 go together, trick is to know where to mount the hardware for the drop down mount. You can use a stud finder to locate the roof support(s) locations and get an idea how wide they are and the direction they go to map out some different locations depending on the mounting hardware that works for you. The new displays draw less power, as Brett mentioned. so the circuit(s) involved should not be and issue. NOTE: you might want to see if the circuit you want to us is powered by the inverter. Kind of handy when you want to watch something with out running the generator if shore power is lacking. Then the other related item is if your unit is Modified sine wave or pure sine wave. Some electronic equipment does not like MSW power. One can install a small(1000 Watt) or smaller Inverter(size depends on your load requirements) to power the new equipment or at least the items you will want to use more frequently. 4. Remove the big tube TV over the driver's head. This makes a nice storage area for DVD's, CDs and other items. Should you decide to install some electrical equipment, then a door that allows for some ventilation is required. 5. Replace the bedroom big tube TV with a 25" flat screen. Most of the signal source switches that select what you wish to watch will work just fine for HD-RF signals. HDMI is a different story. The other item is if your coach is equipped with a Surround sound system, you may need to add an optical to Analog audio converter between the external audio output feed and the input to the surround audio amp. Need to replace the backup camera, so I'm going wireless with it's own monitor. They work fine, may experience some noise at times from other signals in the area. Then there is G-B, WV. area where NO Wireless equipment is allow period !! This includes Cell Phones. The Government sight located in the area monitors everything in or going through the area!!! Rich.
  3. Herman, The ISL Has a Off- High / Low switch mentioned by Brett. Think this kind of depends on the chassis builders specs when the engine is ordered. So again Brett's suggestion of calling Cummings is ones best starting point. There is one more detail to consider if one is having an issue with the engine brake. There is a good possibility of a switch located in the accelerator peddle assembly. This switch tells the ECM the accelerator is up or in the idle position. This switch circuit can fail, this can cause the engine break to malfunction. Rich.

From the album: Exhaust Brake system

Picture of the waste gate area that needs to be lubricated and is very hard to see and access. This is an item that you ask your engine service center to lubricate. The VGT style turbos also have a linkage point that should be lubricated. The actuator rods and pivot points tend to seize up when your coach sets in storage, because the lubricants slowly burn off because of the high exhaust temperatures.
  5. It is one of the items that has a tendency to get you. Kind of out of sight out of mind item that we tend to over look. So I do have it on my check list before going out on the road. Link to a picture of the Pacbrake. http://community.fmca.com/gallery/image/3403-exhaust-brake-internal-damper/ http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/popup.aspx?src=/images/Product/large/6734.jpg Rich.
  6. Take a look at this link. http://www.amazon.com/Navigation-iPhone-ready-Hands-free-Multimedia-SS-9080FX/dp/B00H8ZQO3C?SubscriptionId=AKIAIQWHH4HRPK7LRQTQ&tag=gratefulgoose-total-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00H8ZQO3C Rich.
  7. bprg8of9, Proportioning valve equalizes pressure front and rear. Bad flex(rubber) Line between the steel line portion of the system and the new calipers. A possibility! The one question I have, is the coach equipped with ABS? Do you know if the shop ran a test and complete system bled of the system. The proportioning valve supply fluid to 2 ports on the ABS pump, one for the rear brakes and one for the front brakes. Any air in the ABS system or defective valve could cause one caliper to apply less pressure. ABS systems have 4 brake lines feeding each caliper independent of the others. Rich.
  8. When the unit was R and R, the question is did they get all the baffling installed. directing the heat out of the coach. The fan noise could be caused by the method they mounted them. If mounted directly to the refrigerator without some rubber isolation or wall surface could cause some acoustic coupling. This amplifies the fan noise. Rich.
  9. Mark, try these links. There might be some items you could use. Sights list the 12 and 24 volt together. http://www.led-cfl-lighthouse.com/page/1433707 http://www.12vmonster.com/collections/12v-24v-led-lamps-and-light-bulbs http://www.ledlight.com/s25-24-led-light-24-volt-dc.aspx These lights Have a voltage range of 10 to 30 volts http://www.boatlightstore.com/24-Volt-DC-Lighting/ Mark, there are 24 volt marker lights I just looked up the interior ones for the most part. Rich. Note ! Be mindful that if you install LED lights In the turn signal and flasher circuits, You Will need to replace the flasher assembly with one designed for LED lights because they draw far less current and require a electronic flasher module.
  10. Mike and Judi, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! Congratulations on finding your first home on wheels and your pending Retirement !! Glad you found some helpful information on the forum. There are no questions we will not as a group, try to give you our best thoughts and or opinions. You are now on a learning curve that many of us have been on form 1 to 50+ years. I have been driving a motorhome for 40 plus years an I'm still learning, along with making a few not so smart choices. LOL. I like the Red Bow! all that is missing is the snow ! Rich.
  11. BandM, A reading of 60 psi after dumping is because of the PPV(s). The drop in pressure to zero over 8hrs. is a little faster then some coaches. When you dump the air and are walking around in the coach with out the jacks down the leveling valves are going to slowly exhaust air. The air dump valve is always open when the ignition is off, the reading of 60 psi is due to the PPV, between the Primary and Secondary Air Tanks. Once you have dumped air. The valve closes when ignition is on and you reset the dump valve to Auto, this enables the ride height. You mentioned that you could not find any leaks. The question I have is are the air ride springs OEM. They may have some dry rot this causes small pin holes in the air springs. As the rubber in the Air springs drys out it also effects the quality of the ride. This happens so slowly that we tend to not notice the slow decline. So you might try to spray some soupy water on them and look for leaks. Regarding the Shocks. Do you notice any porpoising while driving down the road ? Shocks with 90K on them do not owe you anything. Rich.
  12. This is a link to a video covering inverter installation that one should watch before changing the location of an inverter or replacing a unit. Rich.
  13. Bill, Thanks for all your great information. The help you have offered to the members and the guests that have frequented this Forum. Please drop in and leave a note from time to time . Think you know that if you ever need a helping hand, that you will surely find one or more on the forum. Stay well and safe where ever life takes you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Both Lois and I !!!! Rich. F415802 PS Remember the wheel chocks
  14. Mark, It looks like the system monitors the Brake Can(s) for the Park and Drive brake system. This could give you an indication of something hanging up and the possibility of a brake pad dragging. I did find wiring information on one model the pictures a purple wire going to the M7 connector in the dash area, but no information on where the circuit originates. Rich.
  15. JT, Google this part number and I think you will find a source. Brackets are still manufactured by Fleetwood. They are part no. 090095. The brackets are around $8.85 each Rich.
  16. Mark, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! Have you owned the coach since New ? This information regards a recall and you mentioned a park brake issue. Let the group know. Recall Summary: ON CERTAIN CLASS A MOTOR HOMES, THE SPACER PLATE UNDER THE TRAILING ARMS HAD A TRANSVERSE WELD WHICH CREATES A HEAT RISER AND CAUSE THE TRAILING ARMS TO CRACK. Hazard: THIS COULD CREATE ROUGH DRIVING CONDITIONS AND DAMAGE TO REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THE DRIVER COULD LOOSE CONTROL OF THE MOTORHOME AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REPLACE THE TRAILING ARMS FOR CRACKS AND REPLACING THE TRAILING ARMS AND U-BOLTS IN THE REAR SUSPENSION OF THE MOTORHOMES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 29, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545. Additional Info: MONACO RECALL NO. 17. Don, Your might try this outlet. List Monaco parts as one of there lines. Veurinks RV 7144 Division AVE S Grand Rapids, MI 49548 Phone: 800.822.5292 http://www.veurinksrv.com/default.asp?page=xAllInventory&s=Price&sq=08412865 The link did not respond to the part number. So it could be out of stock or they have a different number for the part. Rich.
  18. Don, Try this thread on the Forum-- might help. You not the only one! http://community.fmca.com/topic/4414-locked-out-broken-lock/ Who's lock is installed on the coach? Rich
  19. Brett and Ray. I totally agree with using relays ! Interesting that they used a toggle switch for the lights.. More common to see a pull / push switch for the lights. The setup on this coach is something I have not run into. Nice drawing attachment Ray ! Rich.
  20. The picture of the switch Ray posted, fits your description. The key item to keep in mind is the current rating of the switch and the current needs of the lighting circuits. Should the total current requirement of the parking / marker lights and the headlights exceed the max current of one section of the switch. By installing the style of switch pictured and supplying power to both center terminals would in effect increase the current rating by 2. IE - 6 amps per contact for the set of contacts would be increased to 12 amps total. So connecting the two contacts L1 and L3 in parallel would supply power to the headlights and marker lights when they are on. The head lights draw around 5 amps each @ 12 volts for 55 Watt bulbs that equals about 10 amps. The marker lights(20 of them)depending on the location of the bulbs, 16 side marker lights and 4 corner marker lights would require about 15 amps. Rich. Note, Could you post the current and voltage rating of the switch? and any additional information that was supplied with the switch. It would be something like 10 amps at 32 volts or 32 volts @ 10 amps. The voltage rating and current rating might be a lot different then what I posted.
  21. Thanks for the information and a quick lesson in the science / chemistry of the tires I ride on. Definitely a lot smarter then I was about 4 hrs. ago !!! Rich.
  22. I wondered if the cost of tires would go up with the lower oil cost. Timing is everything and had no idea that crude prices would drop to the current level. I'm not a tire engineer, but most of the material is oil based unless I'm missing something used in the manufacture of tires. So Roger: How do you think the current oil prices will affect the supply chain in the manufacturing of tires and any clue of the time line ? Rich. PS. Welcome to the FMCA Forum - FD5

  24. Gerry, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. Could you post the Model year of your coach? You can contact Freightliner Custom Chassis, and with your Vin number. They generally need the last 6 digits. Ask them to send you a PDF copy of the Chassis wiring diagrams. Rich.
  25. msds99, Welcome to the Forum! Do you have the owners manual for the link 1000 ? If not here is a link to get a PDF copy of the manual. http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Discontinued-Products/Link1000_OwnerGuide%28975-0084-01-01_Rev-A%29.pdf Your problem could be a number of items. First.> is to know that the control panel has truly failed. It should work on any Freedom Inverter, have you tried to connect it to another unit? Second.> have you checked to make sure the Data cable is not the issue? Third.> The Remote connects to a logic board inside the Freedom units. This board can fail and if so needs to be replaced. I had to get a new one installed 5 years ago. Rich. Note! Do not forget to check the 2 amp. fuses in the control link circuit !
