  1. Jack, The only thing that I can think of regarding the deforming and peeling is heat and UV. The fact that you list AZ as your home puts you in the bulls eye regarding both. You might look at this link and see if you think something like this would help find a starting point. http://www.curbellplastics.com/technical-resources/pdf/polycarbonate-architect-glazing-makrolon.pdf Rich.
  2. The diodes are for the most part in the harness near the steering wheel, located in the wire harness and can be outside or inside. Now, Freightliner has drawings of the diode location on file for most of there chassis wiring. Do not know if they would be willing to share the information. They have a repair kit that is wired into the section where the problem diodes are that bypasses them (for some models) The last time I read about the kit it was between $180 to $200 plus the instillation fee. With your VIN number, call an see if they could offer a PDF file that would help you pin down the location easier then cutting the open a long section of the harness. Rich. NOTE: There are 2 of them wired in parallel, need two to carry the extra current for the trailer or towed lights and they also are there to protect the coach wiring from back feeds from the tow vehicle. The new coaches come wired with an extra relay / fuse box wired into the hitch lighting circuit to make replacement of a fuse or relay easier.
  3. Thanks for the info. Got to look at one more area of the plumbing system. There often is one located in one of the Bays. Generally close to the fresh water tank. The valve you are looking for could be located in the area pictured on Page 9 of the plumbing drawing. Do you have the owners manual? does it cover, winterizing of the coach? The manual valve(s) used in this process are in the supply side for the fresh water tank, water pump and the supply line to the water heater. Rich.
  4. Action, Thanks for the information! Have to agree with you that there is no check valve pictured. Now, I want to check on what I think you are saying. NO water coming out any of the hot water lines, Correct? The water heater is getting hot. Correct? When you flushed out the hot water tank, did you remover the safety valve; the one outside and near the top of the tank? and also remover the lower drain plug from the tank? Waiting for your reply. Rich.

Second picture of the Pack / Exhaust brake and clamps holding it in place. This is a straight style assembly, there is also one that is bent close to 45 degrees. The style depends on the Exhaust system routing requirements.

  7. Go to this link, look for your year; then the model. The proper PDF file should open. http://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram/Plumbing.htm NOTE - you may have to first down load the file before it will open on the computer screen. Then you can save a copy and look at all the pluming for your model. If you would post the model of your coach, I will then be able to look at the same information if you need further info or help. Rich.
  8. Hi Carl, I took a look and your post / reply to Ray's post about the cat and it did show up. Maybe the elf's where taking a nap when you hit the post button ! I have experienced delays at times and think the system is running some test or back ups late at night or early morning. Hope you had a Marry Christmas and have a Healthy and Happy New Year. Rich.
  9. Correct Brett! just not sure he wants to take the time now to run some tests, so I'm thinking of completely disabling the circuit until he returns from his trip. Rich.
  10. Ernie, Disconnect the ground at the DC Supply terminals, where the battery connections are. I'm thinking that if you disconnect the ground at the pump, there is still the possibility of power going to the Glow plugs. One more question, do you have a auto start system on your coach for the generator? Rich.
  11. erniewjr, Good to see your first post! been a member for awhile! Try this little test. Press the stop side of the generator start switch and hold it down for a few seconds. This puts the generator in the prime mode. You will hear a clicking sound. Does it sound like what you mentioned in you post? Remember, there are 2 start / stop switches. One located outside on the generator, same area as the circuit breakers and the one you use inside the coach. If you a trying to start the generator this is normal. IF not then one needs to look for the switch or something in the pump power circuit that is supplying power to the pump when its not supposed to be there. If you are going away for a few days and the pump is cycling, you might want to disconnect the 12 volt ground wire at the back / bottom connection on the generator and do some testing when you return.!! Rich.
  12. Mac, check out this link. The information might be what you are looking for. https://lci1.com/assets/content/support/manuals/om-coachstep.pdf Rich.
  13. Jerry, See Brett got things started for you. 1. Remove the couch and replace it with 2 recliners. It has been done-have a friend that installed the recliners and likes the change. 2. Remove the recliner and table behind the pax seat. 3. Install a 35" flat screen (LED or LCD) TV in a drop-down retractable cabinet in the area behind the pax seat. These 2 go together, trick is to know where to mount the hardware for the drop down mount. You can use a stud finder to locate the roof support(s) locations and get an idea how wide they are and the direction they go to map out some different locations depending on the mounting hardware that works for you. The new displays draw less power, as Brett mentioned. so the circuit(s) involved should not be and issue. NOTE: you might want to see if the circuit you want to us is powered by the inverter. Kind of handy when you want to watch something with out running the generator if shore power is lacking. Then the other related item is if your unit is Modified sine wave or pure sine wave. Some electronic equipment does not like MSW power. One can install a small(1000 Watt) or smaller Inverter(size depends on your load requirements) to power the new equipment or at least the items you will want to use more frequently. 4. Remove the big tube TV over the driver's head. This makes a nice storage area for DVD's, CDs and other items. Should you decide to install some electrical equipment, then a door that allows for some ventilation is required. 5. Replace the bedroom big tube TV with a 25" flat screen. Most of the signal source switches that select what you wish to watch will work just fine for HD-RF signals. HDMI is a different story. The other item is if your coach is equipped with a Surround sound system, you may need to add an optical to Analog audio converter between the external audio output feed and the input to the surround audio amp. Need to replace the backup camera, so I'm going wireless with it's own monitor. They work fine, may experience some noise at times from other signals in the area. Then there is G-B, WV. area where NO Wireless equipment is allow period !! This includes Cell Phones. The Government sight located in the area monitors everything in or going through the area!!! Rich.
  14. Herman, The ISL Has a Off- High / Low switch mentioned by Brett. Think this kind of depends on the chassis builders specs when the engine is ordered. So again Brett's suggestion of calling Cummings is ones best starting point. There is one more detail to consider if one is having an issue with the engine brake. There is a good possibility of a switch located in the accelerator peddle assembly. This switch tells the ECM the accelerator is up or in the idle position. This switch circuit can fail, this can cause the engine break to malfunction. Rich.

Picture of the waste gate area that needs to be lubricated and is very hard to see and access. This is an item that you ask your engine service center to lubricate. The VGT style turbos also have a linkage point that should be lubricated. The actuator rods and pivot points tend to seize up when your coach sets in storage, because the lubricants slowly burn off because of the high exhaust temperatures.
  16. It is one of the items that has a tendency to get you. Kind of out of sight out of mind item that we tend to over look. So I do have it on my check list before going out on the road. Link to a picture of the Pacbrake. http://community.fmca.com/gallery/image/3403-exhaust-brake-internal-damper/ http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/popup.aspx?src=/images/Product/large/6734.jpg Rich.

  18. bprg8of9, Proportioning valve equalizes pressure front and rear. Bad flex(rubber) Line between the steel line portion of the system and the new calipers. A possibility! The one question I have, is the coach equipped with ABS? Do you know if the shop ran a test and complete system bled of the system. The proportioning valve supply fluid to 2 ports on the ABS pump, one for the rear brakes and one for the front brakes. Any air in the ABS system or defective valve could cause one caliper to apply less pressure. ABS systems have 4 brake lines feeding each caliper independent of the others. Rich.
  19. When the unit was R and R, the question is did they get all the baffling installed. directing the heat out of the coach. The fan noise could be caused by the method they mounted them. If mounted directly to the refrigerator without some rubber isolation or wall surface could cause some acoustic coupling. This amplifies the fan noise. Rich.
  20. Mark, try these links. There might be some items you could use. Sights list the 12 and 24 volt together. http://www.led-cfl-lighthouse.com/page/1433707 http://www.12vmonster.com/collections/12v-24v-led-lamps-and-light-bulbs http://www.ledlight.com/s25-24-led-light-24-volt-dc.aspx These lights Have a voltage range of 10 to 30 volts http://www.boatlightstore.com/24-Volt-DC-Lighting/ Mark, there are 24 volt marker lights I just looked up the interior ones for the most part. Rich. Note ! Be mindful that if you install LED lights In the turn signal and flasher circuits, You Will need to replace the flasher assembly with one designed for LED lights because they draw far less current and require a electronic flasher module.
  21. Mike and Judi, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! Congratulations on finding your first home on wheels and your pending Retirement !! Glad you found some helpful information on the forum. There are no questions we will not as a group, try to give you our best thoughts and or opinions. You are now on a learning curve that many of us have been on form 1 to 50+ years. I have been driving a motorhome for 40 plus years an I'm still learning, along with making a few not so smart choices. LOL. I like the Red Bow! all that is missing is the snow ! Rich.
  22. BandM, A reading of 60 psi after dumping is because of the PPV(s). The drop in pressure to zero over 8hrs. is a little faster then some coaches. When you dump the air and are walking around in the coach with out the jacks down the leveling valves are going to slowly exhaust air. The air dump valve is always open when the ignition is off, the reading of 60 psi is due to the PPV, between the Primary and Secondary Air Tanks. Once you have dumped air. The valve closes when ignition is on and you reset the dump valve to Auto, this enables the ride height. You mentioned that you could not find any leaks. The question I have is are the air ride springs OEM. They may have some dry rot this causes small pin holes in the air springs. As the rubber in the Air springs drys out it also effects the quality of the ride. This happens so slowly that we tend to not notice the slow decline. So you might try to spray some soupy water on them and look for leaks. Regarding the Shocks. Do you notice any porpoising while driving down the road ? Shocks with 90K on them do not owe you anything. Rich.
  23. This is a link to a video covering inverter installation that one should watch before changing the location of an inverter or replacing a unit. Rich.
  24. Bill, Thanks for all your great information. The help you have offered to the members and the guests that have frequented this Forum. Please drop in and leave a note from time to time . Think you know that if you ever need a helping hand, that you will surely find one or more on the forum. Stay well and safe where ever life takes you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Both Lois and I !!!! Rich. F415802 PS Remember the wheel chocks
  25. Mark, It looks like the system monitors the Brake Can(s) for the Park and Drive brake system. This could give you an indication of something hanging up and the possibility of a brake pad dragging. I did find wiring information on one model the pictures a purple wire going to the M7 connector in the dash area, but no information on where the circuit originates. Rich.
