  1. That's always a good question. I've read a number of articles on the new steerable tag axles...but never a price. Guess they don't want to be responsible for us having a heart attack while reading a forum.
  2. My problem occurred the first time I tried to use the coach. Brought the house batteries on line to start it, then called the AC tech line when we got to the CG. They talked me through the procedure to increase the charge rate and charge time. It seems the charger ''thought'' it was only charging four batteries, not eight. That boosted the normal charge to 13.6 to 13.8...worked fine since. I'll have to ask about turning the inverter on and if that affects charging the chassis batteries. Now I only turn it on if we are going to use it on the road.
  3. My coach charges the chassis batteries, but the charge goes through the coach batteries. The charge must be at least 13.3 volts in order for the coach batteries to let it go to the chassis batteries. If the charge to the coach batteries is less than 13.3, the charge will not go to the chassis batteries...and they will be dead when you want to start the coach. BTDT.
  4. One brief comment...you guys are on a roll...re interior space. For years 5th wheels were known for having more living space. Now that many MHs have full wall slides (FWS) that is no longer true. We've had both.
  5. You may have it, Joe, but here's a link to an Aqua Hot forum: http://forum.rvhydronicheaterrepair.com/activity.php?s=b52d75847efb367edfbc3085cb9d6bfa
  6. We have the portable also...takes up lots less space.
  7. Carl, which model 45 Tradition do you have?
  8. Not making a point, just pointing out to a member who might need some service that there is no such thing as a "Detroit Diesel Allison Transmission franchise" so he need not waste time looking for one. Sounds like a great place to do business, but most of us are not in your part of the country.
  9. My Blue Ox manual says annual maint should be cutting the strap ties at each end of the rubber covers, lubing the bar and resecuring the covers with new strap ties.
  10. pennpowergroup.com looks like a group of independent companies under one roof...with that group, they should be able to fix just about anything. Here's Allison's recent history: September 1970—Merge with Detroit Diesel Engine to form Detroit Diesel Allison Division, headquarters in Detroit. December 1987--Detroit Diesel Allison becomes Allison Transmission, Division of General Motors June 2007—GM announced that it was selling Allison Transmission to private equity firms The Carlyle Group and Onex Corporation, in a deal valued at $5.6 billion. The transaction closed on August 7, 2007. They are on the stock market as ALSN, trading at $24.88 today.

    Front End Noise

Our last coach had a manual gen slide in the front. I forgot to lock it once, and when the coach stopped...the generator kept going. Fortunately, I had stopped far enough back from the guy in front of us so we did not hit him...think we got his attention though.
  12. On the subject of wiring, in our last coach the cruise control on our "smart" wheel was wired backwards. Set/deccel and resume/accel were reversed.
  13. I use the same brand oil in the gen I use in the big engine...they are both diesels...same oil...Rotella 15w40. The "min/cool" mark is where you should fill the new coolant. The make/type of coolant can be confusing...standard or extended life, I'd call Onan on that one.
  14. How can they say they are the same...two of the three numbers for the tires are different? Where's Tireman9, he can explain it.
  15. No, didn't even think about FMCA and a discount. We were stranded for 5 1/2 hours while the road service tried to find a tire, any make tire that fit. It seems that 295/80R22.5 tires are primarily for RVs, thus very hard to find even near a big city. When I need more than one tire, I'll give FMCA a call.
  16. Alrohrer...this has been posted on here before...this is what the 'book' says: Tow rating is the lower of: 1. Coach's hitch rating. 2. Coach tow rating. 3. Chassis tow rating (sometimes different than the coach's). 4. The difference in weight between the coach's GCWR and the coach's actual weight when ready to tow.
  17. We use, two Lasko portable electric heaters and Aqua Hot on electric, then AH on diesel if really cold. Don't use the heat pump much...won't work below 40/45 degrees and is very noisy.
  18. FYI, DD and Allison parted ways nearly 30 years ago.
  19. When we got our Eagle, I had to call Amer Coach to ask what two switches were on the panel over the door. I was informed they are "scare lights'' two large lights, one on each side, mounted high, mid coach, with a switch for each. The docking lights have not changed, two each side, one near the front and one near the back. To date we have not used either of the lights noted.
  20. Roadside assistance thought we ran over some road debris when crossing a small bridge on I 55 just south of Joliet, IL...busiest road with 18 wheelers I've ever seen. Clear, dry, 60 MPH, cruise on.
  21. That is a great price. I had a 295/80R22.5 blowout last May, of course I was a captive audience, but it cost $800.
  22. That's your weight, Carl. My ISL routinely got around 8.3 cruising at 60, pulling a toad...GVWR was 34,600.
