Thanks Texnet. I have done this before and have received the areas we are in locals channels. I had to laugh the first time we did this. when we returned home we had to call to have our home area changed back to our home address. On the same note we have several shows we like to watch so when we are going on the road I will set the DVR to record the shows. When we returned from one trip I had no shows recorded because I had moved to our mobile location and I didn't have my locals at home. Now we just hope for cable where we park or watch some movies we have. Thanks again for everyones responce to my question. Go RVing and go often.

Yes there is a lot of valuable info on this subject. As for the sensors, I'm not sold on them yet. In the summer I have checked my tire pressure in the morning. I have my fronts at 90 psi and the rears at 95psi. Later in the day after several hours of driving I checked them again all were 120 to 125 psi due to the heat. Sensors on cars only have a very small window of difference before they send a warning, as I understand. I don't know about the after market units. As for Nitrogen, race cars use nitrogen in their tires because it is not effected by heat. So if you have your RV tires filled with nitrogen you will have the same smooth ride all the time. However it is expensive to have your tires filled with nitrogen and there are not many places to have then filled or added to. You can go to your local Welding Supply store, purchase a Nitrogen cylinder (very heavy) for about $300.00 and a regulater for about $100.00, have a long air hose (50 Ft.) and you can service your tires yourself. Oh you also have to find a place in the coach to carry the cylinder and you have to take it to a W/S store to swap it out. So from this post I know that truck tires are OK for an RV. Recaps are not good. Sensor are up in the air. Nitrogen is expensive. And we all love our RVs and care about their shoes. Man I love this forum.

super squid571 Mr White, If I read your post correctly, you went from boot camp to become a Mustang and rose to the rank of Admiral. I joined in July of 1956. You must have passed me like a streak. My salute and congratulations.

Ron, as I had my $6.95 coffee at Starbucks this morning we discussed the topic of the rising cost of living. We came to the conclusion that we would start having our coffee at McDonalds, they still offer Senior discounts on coffee. This would help us all. So Ron you see we all have to make our way around these increases to adjust in other areas so we can continue to enjoy the thing we love, our families, our RVs, and last but not least FMCA. Through my membership I receive discounts at many RV parks and by golly I have saved ten bucks. Park 10 times a year and I have saved $100.00. and it only cost me $40.00 to save $60.00. So please pay what you can and I will buy you a cup of coffee at McDonalds should we ever camp together. Welcome to the Forum and I applaud your years with FMCA. PS: Your goose egg will look better right side up and people won't think, "Didn't that old feller read his sign before he mounted it?"

Blue Ox Patriot Braking System vs. Competition
hermanmullins replied to mapdlpurdy's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
You did not say what coach you have. If you have a diesel take a look at the M & G Enginnering unit, low in cost and a great unit. -
Montie, I assume that you have a Aqua-Hot in your coach. I just had my unit serviced. It would run the fan but there was no heat, the burner would not fire off. I found that the coolant for the unit was low. There is a safety that prevents your unit form firing off. Find your over flow tank and check the coolant leval. There is a clod line and a hot line. If there is no coolant in the tank then you will need to add some. There is a type of antifreeze for boilers that does not have Etholine Glycol (spelling ?) and is mixed half and half with water. Hope this helps.

After we bought our first MH, from an individual (death of her husband), we had lots of questions. I looked at so many coaches I got cross eyed. But one thing I found to be true were the salesman. I can only speak of used coaches since that was all I was looking at. I found that the majority of the salemen were very easy going and would answer any of your questions honestly. So if I were to give give you any advice is to look at what you like and ask many questions. There is not anyone out there that after buying their coach, they thought "what have I done". But then you look again and say "I did good". Good luck and enjoy what ever you decide on.

Butch39, I had the same problem on my previous coach. It was the postive wire connection to the post on the blower motor. It was loose. I crimped the connector a little bit where it made good firm contact. Wala! no more problem. Hopes this helps. Herman

Water Filtration and Reverse Osmosis
hermanmullins replied to mikev's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Bill I mean you no disrespect. However if you will look in the FMCA Forum under "Water and Holding Tanks", "Mold in fresh water hose", there are several comments about mold. As of today my reply of Decemder 14, 2009 is the last post in that topic and you may see where I quoted a Fox News.com report. I wish only good health to you and your wife. -
Water Filtration and Reverse Osmosis
hermanmullins replied to mikev's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
WARNING! WARNING! Wil Robins. You do not want to use a carbon filter for filling your fresh water tank. If you use a carbon filter you remove clorine from the water going into your fresh water storage. Clorine keeps your water free for Bacteria and Algee. You can become quit ill from that water if it sits for any length of time in your tank. Your are much safer putting your filter inline after the tank and fresh water inlet and the pump. Then you are filtering only the water just before you use. There was a hotel in Florida that filtered it water through the whole system and 1 guest died and several became ill. (sorry for any missed spelled words) Most city water is fine for your tanks then it can be filtered for taste and smell just before you use. Happy RVing -
When I have purchased programs for my computer I always have a code to activate it with when installing and registering. Each time I move the program I use the same code and it works. I do have programs like Notron that I know is a subscride to service and must be renewed each year (And they start telling you 6 months in advance). With the copilot program will your old activation code still work? If you have the disc and old code try that. It might work if it doesn't then you can get more angry and frustrated. Sorry, hope you get it solved soon.

Diesel Pusher Class A vs. Ford 460 Class C
hermanmullins replied to marshall2u@yahoo.com's topic in Buying an RV
From the sounds of your letter you and your wife have never been in an Motor Home for a night. If this is true might I suggest that you rent one for a week end. It might cost a little but if you and the wife try it and do not like RVing it is alot less expensive then buying one and finding out that neither of you care for it. Having said that, look at both coaches inside at the ceilings. See any water spots? Spot are a sign of leaking and this can be realy bad. Has it been a smokers coach? Did they have pets? High milage and clean, used to travel. Low milage but worn, used to live in. You are wise to start with a smaller unit. Going up easy. Going back down harder. Now is the time to buy a pre-owned unit. Prices are low because of the economy. When money is tight and there is 2 feet of snow on the ground people wonder why am I making this payment? Good luch to you and your wife. I hope you find what suits you both and have as much enjoyment as may others that have gone before you. -
If you can find a Class 3 hitch used that may have been on a Ford Pickup (I beleive that is the widest frame), get it and have shop weld it to 2 peices of 6" X 6" angle or maybe 8" X 8" with holes drilled in it so it can be mounted to your chassi. You will have to figure out how wide you will need the bracket to be spaced on the hitch. A good welder and fabricator should be able to make the receiver for you. Good luck.

peepa I have a 02 Monaco Dynasty and I don't know which cable reel I have. Does yous wind into a tub or on to a reel? Was your cable in a bind when you were trying to rewind it? I am just asking these questions in hope that I can prevent having your same problem. By the way you gave a great presentation on the repair and will help folks that incure this repair. Thanks.

David, Stay below 65 and don't drive with a crosswind. Ha Ha. Has you mirror been moved one way or the other? If you mirror housing was moved somehow and you just readjusted the mirror, you may have created an unusual air path that could cause the noise. Is the mirror protruding past the housing? If so, you might reposition the housing and then adjust the mirror so it doesn't extend past the housing. Hope this helps.

WOW, is anyone else wondering where the first ten years of this century have gone? I don't know when a decade has gone by so quickly. May you all have a wonderful 2010 and on and on and on.

Just to add to what Tom said. As long as you hear the warning sound you do not have enough air pressure to do anything other then wait. In this case waiting is "Good". Good luck.

Glenn is correct, Oakwood RV Park in Frederickburg is an OK park. He and Wanda had a great time there. If you are there go out to the airport and have breakfast at the Airport Cafe. Keerville also has Guadalupe RV Park. Nice park good sights and if you fish it is right on the river. Come Visit Lone Star Chapter of FMCA in February at Coushata RV Park in Bellville, TX, Feb. 18-20 or at Coffee Creek RV Resort in Santo, TX, April 8-10. We love having visitors at our Rallies.

Aqua-Hot Heating System
hermanmullins replied to truckr44@yahoo.com's topic in Systems and Appliances
Sandraw, The technician that serviced our Aqua-Hot said that the unit will operate on 110 volt Electrical. However it needs the full access to 50 amp service and is only a 1500 watt element. I don't know if I would relie on it for a lot of heat. In most cases the Aqua-Hot will have vents into the bays with a thermostat that will turn on the system to prevent the tanks and water line from freezing. If you have a Beaver, what year is it? A friend of ours has a 1999 Beaver Patriot Thunder and it has a Hurricane Unit. I don't know much about it but understand that it is similar to the Aqua-Hot. The bases of the Aqua-Hot unit is that it operates like hot water heater. The unit has a fluid that is kept at Approx 184 degrees. Upon demand from the thermostat a pump will circulate warm water through a radiator and a low speed fan will force air across the radiator and into your living area. At the same time it is keeping your hot water hot and ready for use. Great unit and works well if maintained. Down side it does burn diesel. So if you are camping for and extended time be sure your tanks are full before you park. Just like your generator it will stop working if your fuel tank goes below 1/4 th. But also note that I am a novice and may not all of which I speak. Happy Rving and keep warm. -
2drifters See if you read the FMCA forum you learn a lot. I didn't know about the Chevy Caprice Motor Home. Can you send pictures? Just joking. That is one of the good thing about the internet and this forum, there is always some where or some one that can help with a problem. As was stated, there is a web site for RV Salvage yards, Colaws in Joplin, MO. comes to mind. Happy RVing.

Try going to a Camping World store or their web site. Check who makes the one for the USA and google them. They may have one but don't show it here. You could google RV Maps. Good luck in your search.

Refrigerator Problem
hermanmullins replied to jameswelsh96@yahoo.com's topic in Systems and Appliances
Does your ref. have a LP mode? On the LP mode it will only need the 12 volt source to operate. However here in Texas today we just leave everything out side. Good luck.
