  1. Glad you found the panel. I reread my post. My bad, if you turned off your pump and drained the water like I said your carpet would dry out anyway. Because even if it was a drain problem without water running you would not have been able to detect a leak. That being said, look around the base of your shower. Mine has a small panel that you can see under the pan. You might find signs of a leak there. If you don't find any sign of a drain leak it may just be a need to caulk as you said. Glad you found that it was not a pressure leak in the line. Good Luck
  2. Brett, you just gave out some very good information. I didn't know that just running your engine to operating temp (water) and not driving to get the oil temp up would cause moisture in the crank case. Good to know. While on the subject, how about the gen. set. Do you need to run the a/c to give a load to get both the water and oil up to operating temp? What would be a good guide time wise since most gen. sets don't have temp gauges. I did know that you need to have a load on the gen. when running. Again, good info.
  3. You might ask RAMCO what glue they use and if they have changed it since your coach was made. They may have had a problem with one glue over another. (Or it was assembled on a Monday and the glue guy might have had too many adult beverages over the weekend.)
  4. Gary, There is a service your land line provider has that is very helpful when you are away from home. If you have an answering machine, they can automatically forward you incoming call to your cell phone after X number of rings. You can set the number of rings. Just give them a call and they can set it up for you. Many phone companies have call forwarding, however you only have to turn off your machine when you leave for an extended time. Gary (garykd), you make a very good list. People going on a trip could make a copy for a check list.
  5. Ditto to what Brett said, welcome to the Forum. On the wall in your bedroom look to see if there is a panel that can be removed. Most (but not always) mfgr. will put an access panel where there is plumbing in a wall. If there is remove the panel and see if you may have a seeping water leak. Also you might turn off your pump, drain off the pressure and wait several days and check if the damp spot drys. If so it is a water pressure leak. If not then it may be a drainage problem. But as Brett said check with your mfgr. they can direct you to access to water and drain areas.
  6. One realy good place to start is at Winnebago Service Administration 800-537-1885. I have always found that the Manufactuer is the best place to begin a search with a motor home. Dealers can also help.
  7. Michael, There could be different causes depending on your Auxiliary Brake System. Is it an Exhaust Brake or a Jake Brake? One affects the exhaust and the other affects the valves. If it is an exhaust brake it may be sticking. However if it is a Jake Brake it could be in the electrical system. You need a service tech to look at it. I may have my terms wrong but you get my meaning.
  8. Brett, come to Bandera Skyline RV Ranch for the Lone Star Rally May 19-22, 2011. Would love to meet you since we have exchanged banter for some time.

  9. If you have Hydro Jacks it is always good to dump before you level. This way your jacks don't have to extend so far to level the coach. Brett is correct when you level different coaches. However Brett you left out one very important step, "dump/level/extend slides and @*%()!". Again in the order set out by the manufacturer. Good question and good answers.
  10. The slide locks on my front slide dosen't seem to want to release. Therefore we can't open the slide. Anyone out there know if there is a release? 2002 Monaco Dynasty. 40 foot, 2 slides, Front giving problem.
  11. JR, you bring up a very valid point. We have the M&G Braking system with the Yukon wired with diodes for the lights. I have never thought that when I put the brakes on in the coach my brake lights would work both through to brake light switch on the Yukon as well as through the wireing by pass. I have never had any problems with my batteries because everything is turned off and only (now I know) the brake lights use any power from the Yukon Battery. It just goes to show "That you are never too old to learn".
  12. Steve & Sue, Welcome to the Forum. If you are able to unlock the steering wheel by just putting in the key you have a good thing. You might want to put in an extra auxiliary plug receptacle for your Brake Buddy. It could be wired streight into you coach power and only be active when you are connected.(be sure to put in an inline fuse) With this you could leave your ignition off with just the key in. One other thing, you might want to have your battery tested to see if it may be on the down side of its life. If you do have to replace your battery you might look for a higher Amp Hour unit. Just my thoughts. Hope they help.
  13. Skyking 8 Tires? Everyone has their preferance. Last year I needed to replace 5 of my 8 tires. The coach had GoodYear G670 RV's. The previous owner had replaced three for some reason.(I will replace them next year). The store where I got my tires has been in our town for 50 years and is highly respected for their knowledge. Ronnie had the G670's to match what I had. The price was good and he got me with the GoodYear rep. and I got a rebate of $50.00 per tire. So far I have been pleased with the tires. We have driven about 5,000 miles with out any trouble. We have a 40 ft. Monaco and run 90 psi. front and 95 psi in the rear. It has a smooth ride and handles well. GoodYear has a wed site "GoodYear Rv Tires". Even if you don't go with them it has a pdf file on tires and tire maintance that is realy good. Good luck and smooth RVing.
  14. When I was in the boating industry we had problems with several boat gas tanks. Several of the manufactures put in 20 gallon tanks where they had 16 gallon tanks before. What happened was the fill neck hose had to go up to the top of the tank and created a very slow filling. They solved the problem by going back to the 16 gallon tank. I believe what you are saying about the sagging hoses would create the same problem. Signed Pinoccho
  15. rhale and NavyDad89, welcome to the forum. rhale, try going on the web and looking for RV Salvage Companies. There may be one in your area or any where that might have the doors you need. Be sure and have the mesurements of your old doors so they can check sizes. Hope this helps.
  16. Are you refering to my Pinocchio Nose? Sorry it took so long for me to respond but I had to find out what Proboscis ment. Yep, it is big. I don't know if it is from getting older or some of the stories I may have told? Keep up the good mechnical answers to the forum.
  17. Bob, Being color blind should not be a problem. Take a picture of the panel. Give each switch an alpha letter designation. As you remove the wires from each component and give each one the alpha letter of the component and a number (B-1, B-2 and so on). Draw a sketch of the back of each component to show where each wire goes. Then you can remove the panel for duplication. You will need to do this even if you find a replacement panel. Good luck on your search.
  18. Yes I use the M G Eng. Brake unit. They are just North of Athens, TX on Hwy 19. They have 2 priced units. New with a life time warrenty and a remanufactured unit with a 5 year warrenty. It is a very simple unit but works great. We pull a Yukon LX and before we put on the MG I had no problems pulling but really noticed the weight when we stoped.

Don't even know it there with the MG.

  19. Bill & Brett both have the correct Idea. If you are now filling your tires to 120 psi because it is written on the tire then you need to step back and evaluate your load. Have all four corners weighed. Then look on your tire mfg site for their tire chart to find the recommended psi. Do you have the recommended pressures on your information sticker in your coach? It should be somewhere close to your VIN No. That will give you some indication of the correct PSI-- based on each axle at its GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating). That may or may not be close to your actual weight. I think once you fill your tires to the correct PSI(which should be lower then 120 psi)you will think you have a different coach with a softer & better ride.
  20. Tom, Like everyone has said before, Welcome to FMCA and the FORUM You and your wife are just the folks that FMCA needs. Thank you for joining and pointing out a great problem with FMCA. Back in 1963 (I believe), several families got together to camp out, look at the stars and have a time with family and friends. It was started by families for families. But sadly it has moved to older empty nesters. You will see it mentioned many times the need to recruit new members, in the magazine. We don't need new members; we need new families. Here is a suggestion. Each month look in the magazine for Rallies in your area. Go visit. You will have a great time and your children will acquire many new grandparents. Every time someone brings children and or grandchildren, the other members go Ga Ga over them. My point of making several rallies is to see how it's done. Then look around your area of FL and try to find families just like yourselves and get together and form a chapter for people with children still at home. You could start a new trend for FMCA and get it back to what it started for: Families. If I may be of any help don't hesitate to message me and I will be glad to help in any way I can. Thanks, again, for joining and making us older folks remember what is really important: Family.
  21. Ours had a problem. I left the gray water gate open when we went for a cruise and now its at the bottom of Lake Texoma. Also it is really hard to dump when anchored. It also got a little top heavy when we opened the slide. Happy cruising, I mean RVing.
  22. You will have no problem in yout 40 footer. I have traveled this route many time but was in a car. However when leaving Las Cruces on 70 you will travel through the White Sands Missle Range. Some times, if they are having a test, you might have to wait for an hour or so. You will go through Alamogordo. Beautilful city. Next you will go through Tularosa. Small town where you turn right (East). You will go through the Medcalero Indian Reservation. If you can stop and visit the church there. Sorry I can't remember the name but it has a great history. Then into Rudioso, nice town, race track and casinos. Then on to Roswell. All of the roads are very good. There are some curves but none that are very sharpe. It is a nice trip with lots to see. Have a nice trip.
  23. As said before "CONGRATULATIONS" on 50 years. You married a twofer, one a Marine as your self and two she must have been Irish to marry you on Saint Patricks Day. You will never have any snake in your house. Again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.
  24. Check Tom Butler's post in Coach Modifications: Replacing Analog TV with Flat Screen LCD Saves Space and Weight. Good post with pictures.
  25. We all have had not so pleasant visits to RV Parks. We all like to vent. Venting is good for the soul. However sometimes we jump before we think ( I am guilty of this more then once). Before we trash a Park or Resort we need to check out if we or the park is at fault. A good place to start is www.reparkreviews.com. See what other think about the Park or Resort. As for Cordele RV Park in Cordele, GA, the only negatives were that they didn't have Cable TV and not family friendly. That part could be up for question since one review spoke about the playground. Therefore we all need to see if it was ourselves or the Park that was the problem.
