  1. Reid, Good question. Have you checked your oil dip stick for signs of water? Since the overflow tube runs down the radiator is there any signs of blowing water/anti freeze? Have your new cap pressure checked. Is it the correct psi? If you have a rear Radiator lift up the cover and check for water. How has the temp. been while driving? Did the engine start after you refilled the radiator? I know you have been through all of this but water missing and no sign of leaks is indeed strange. Good luck, let us know what you find, everyone benifits from all solutions.
  2. Tom; This is my invitation for you and Louise to come on up to McKinney for a visit. You might need to set your thermostat at 90 and hope it will get to 60 within 4 to 5 hours. Right now it is 18 degrees here and our power has been off 2 times so far.
  3. Brett is correct. Let me go a little further. Tires that go into service at the same time will wear at the same rate. However when one tire has been in service for 5,000 mile and you put on a new tire there will be a difference in dia. of the two tires. If you replace one of your front tires there is no problem since they turn independently of each other. However if you change just one rear tire out of four on a tandem axle you have several problems. One tire is now larger then the other three. It will have to carry more load and it will try and roll at a different rate then the other side. This can lead to problems with your differential. If I have to change a one of my tires on the rear, I bite the bullet and replace all four. At that point all four turn and wear at the same rate. Just my thoughts.
  4. By the way Mike, Welcome to the forum. Jim, How is your water pressure with the city water turned Off and with the pump on? In our coach [Monaco Dynasty] the city water doesn't go through the pump. It bypasses the pump with the valve in the closed position. Does your coach have the water distribution panel that Tom mentioned? How is the pressure on the kitchen and shower on just hot or cold, both still low? If so I have to go along with Brett, there has to be some type of restriction. The restriction must be after the hot and cold water is mixed. Have you taken the arm off your kitchen faucet and cleaned it? If you take the shower head off how is the pressure? I am just throwing out suggestion. We all know that the greatest care is taken in building our coaches and that there could never be any trash left in any lines. So it must be something we do wrong. If you find the solution please post it so everyone that read the forum will know how to solve the problem should they have the same problem.
  5. Check out mcdinnovations.com [Motor Coach Designs Innovations] They are in McKinney, TX. If you have your coach done in Nacogdoches it would be a couple of hours up to McKinney. They have parking for customers on site. They might be able to incorporate your old bra with the new one. Check them out .
  6. I replaced my house batteries two years ago with Interstates from Sam's. Never had a problem. The good thing about Interstate is if you have a problem You can go to Sam's or Interstate for help. If and when you change out your batteries be sure to clean your lugs well. And, put some spray on them to help protect from acid corrosion.
  7. Don, look at your 50 amp cord. The wire guage will be stamped or imprinted every 12 to 18 inches. Check the extension you wish to buy for the same information. Then take a trip to your local electrical suppy house and ask them what size guage stranded wire you would need to carry 120 volts/50 amp power 52 feet. They can tell you the guage size you would need. Also, as was said, you could buy a 50 amp extension cord. I have both and for the addapter I made my own out of the same guage size of my 50 amp cord. No matter what size you have, when you have a heavy load, go and check each plug and cord for heat. That will tell you if your cable is too small.
  8. On one fine day while preparing to depart from our RV storage lot, I decided to fill the Fresh water tank. I plugged in the water and proceeded to do other per trip chores. I heard my wife yell, "Where is all the water coming from off the top of the coach?" There are two inlets in my bay. One for fresh water, the other to flush the holding tank. I had plugged the water hose into the tank flush side. The one good thing was that the seal on the toilet held. The holding tank was discharging out the vent stack. The dirty water came off the roof into my automatic awning cover and ran out right over the entrance door. Yes, you are correct -- paper, dark-colored water, and ----- come out all over. Two things happened. I then had the cleanest holding tanks around and I got to wash my coach and the drive of the storage lot. Yes, I have made some change as to how I connect my water line now. Come on out here ... let's hear your story.
  9. Deluco, FIRT LET ME THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. (I saw one time that capitols means you are raising your voice and I am so all can hear.) I first heard about RhinoFlex hose from a friend that bought it at one of FMCAs National Rallies. I thought he paid a very high price for it. However I found it at Camping World for about a third of what he paid. I use the RhinoFlex everytime we camp. It is great. What I like about it is how it stores. The only draw back is when one section is not quite enough and you must use two sections It will snake open more if there is a lot of slack in the hose. But that is a very small point compaired to how good it stores and how durable its.
  10. Welcome to the Forum Richard and Samme [and Honor] Since this latch seems to be an ongoing problem with Fleetwood, what does their tech dept. say? Have you looked for a different latch that might work? I am not familiar with the Fleetwood. Does the Latch latch to the door also. There could be an alignment problem that puts the latch in a bind all the time and cause the latch to crack then break. Check and see how the latch looks on the door and jam when closed. Is it in a bind? Does it close with ease or do you have to close it real hard. Constant breaking must be binding or stress problem. Hope my hints help.
  11. How about adding a topic for places to eat along the highways and byways. One poster asked where he could find the best BBQ. I know there are lots of folks out there that have that one spot they always try to stop and eat when they are in a certain area. I will start it off: If you are traveling through Oklahoma on Hwy 69 stop in Chouteau [show-toe]. At the one traffic light turn West and turn right just over the Rail Road tracks (maybe 100 yards off the highway). Have lunch at the DUTCH PANTRY. It is run by Mennonites and it is a buffet (we know how RVers like Buffets). Home made desserts that you would die for. Everything is home made and it is all you can eat for one price including drink and dessert. Anyone else out there have a favorite spot? So far there have been several good sounding places. One thing for a good spot is parking. Do they have parking for RVs with toads.
  12. As Brett said call Fantastic at 800-521-0298. Be in your coach and one of their tech will walk you through the steps to test your unit. If it is a switch they will send you not only one but both switches. After you talk with them you will know why they are "Fantastic".
  13. Although we have Disk Network, we take the receiver from our home when we go traveling. If you have your local channels on your Direct TV you wont be able to get them out side your coverage area. We have at times called Dish and they will set us up with the local channels where we are. We then have to call Dish to have our home units reset when we return. There could be a problem if your receiver is HD and your Dish on your coach is not. Maybe someone out there knows if the two are compatiable. Welcome to the forum.
  14. Thanks Explorer I know a lot of Vets appreicate your post.
  15. It isn't bad to use a fuel additive all year round. It helps control moisture. If most people are like my wife and I we don't always know when we will be going out the next time, 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months. One nice thing about rum, if you have a gas rig and you are afraid of it spoiling pour it in the gas tank. HAPPY ENGINES are always nice to have. Happy RVing.
  16. Last day, If you have a air compressor handy you can remove all the water from your water lines. Thay make a small fitting that attaches to your water hose. you can apply a small amount of air 10 or 15 psi and open each water faucet one at a time. you will need to add more air as you go through your rig. This will eliminate all water in your lines and will be no need to heat your rig. If you do drain your lines or add antifreeze to your lines don't forget to pour some down all drains and add some to your toilet bowl.
  17. If you added the extra socket (cigarette lighter as most of knew as) why not run it to your lighting connection to your coach for 12v power? Of course you would need to put in a protective fuse on both ends. No worry of discharging your battery. My 2003 Yukon does not have a locking pin in the steering column, does the Equinox? I left the key on the first time we towed it and it pulled just fine but with the key on it recorded the miles.
  18. Of what graybeard said I think the key word was WAX. I think what the white streaks are is oxidation from the top. Waxing the top might slow down the streaking. I don't think you will ever stop it fully. I generaly get streaking when I wash the coach and I think it is from the water. Has anyone out there tried using a filter on the hose when washing their coach? Did it slow down the streaking? OH Lord, what would we do with our time if we didn't have an RV. I love it.
  19. Dave If you haven't done it before turn off your refirgerator, dry it out and leave the doors open. Also make sure the shelves are clean and dry. If you have your insurance through GMAC call them up and put the coach in storage. This can save you money. Also be sure and top off all fuel tanks and put in a fuel additive to keep fuel fresh and reduce moisture. It would be good to have the oil and filters changed. After you put in an additive be sure and run your engine and gen. to make sure they get some in the carbs or injecters. Since you are in Florida you might find some sort of dehumidfier. Good luck. I know you will get lot of help with your question.
  20. Charlie, I don't think you have a problem. There is room around the calipers for the cap to fall out when you begin to move. Caps are either plastic or stainless(so they wont rust). If you lost it on your front wheel just start your engine trun your wheel until the rear of the wheel your lost the cap on is turned out. crawl under and take a look. You might raise your coach until both front wheels are off the ground then spin the wheel. It should fall out. My self, I would say "darn" and then go to the parts house and buy some new caps. This wont be the first caps you lose nor the last. You most likely throw more rock and other thing up into all sorts of places on your coach while driving. So get some new caps. enjoy a fine cup of coffee and go camping.
  21. I owe you an apologize. From your post I felt like you had not served. I was mistaken. Thank you for your 30 years of service. Herman Mullins, U.S. Navy Vet.
  22. Thank you for your point. But always, always remember that you have the right to voice your feelings because all, yes all who are serving or have served have kept your rights free, all your rights. So the next time you see a man or women wearing something military go up shake their hand and thank them for their service. I was told one time that if I typed my post in capitols it meant I was SHOUTING. Thank you to all ... yes, all who are serving or have served this wonderful country. GO NAVY!
  23. Barb, find your closest RV dealer and go ask for their help. Check with Winnebago on line they might have a vedio for your coach. Give their tech dept. a call. As you can see in the forum, RVer's are wonderful people willing to help any way they can. You have many new thing that are going to happen with your coach. Some good and some not so good, but the nice thing is that every time you make a mistake that is something you will never forget. Just start talking to people you know and you will be suprised how many have RV's them selves. Have fun with your coach and keep looking to the forum when you need help.
  24. Nurse Barbara, the 454 and the 8.1 are built on the same block. I am not sure but I beleive the 454 is a throttle body injection and the 8.1 is a multi port injection. And yes either one will do well on a coach up to 34 or 35 feet. more then that you not preform too well.
