  1. If you don't find anything like Tom describes, there are also after market rain gutters that you can install on the edge of the roof to move the water or even create a channel from the A/C output to where ever you would like the water to go. Sort of like this: http://www.trimlok.com/prod/Drip-Rail/Plastic-Profiles/All-Product-Categories_141/Drip-Rail_67.aspx

Sorry, I have no idea what it is and Google is no help.
  3. For those not familiar with the rules about pumping fuel in OR, you CANNOT pump your own gas. Period. However, there are no issues at all if you have a diesel rig and pump diesel yourself. You just have to pay about .30 more per gallon for diesel than is posted on the sign at the truck stop. Only commercial drivers with a PUC permit get that price.
  4. Most folks don't need anything more than a reasonable Verizon plan if they are actually traveling. Verizon has the best coverage and that cannot be disputed. If you plan to spend the Winter/Summer in one spot, check the coverage at that location. Otherwise, buy Verizon/Millenicom (Verizon is better in almost all cases) and sit back and enjoy the ride.
  5. I know I saw notices on this forum but since I do not use the service I am not sure what information was provided directly to users.
  6. Donwloads exceeding 700K? I hope it is WAY exceeding 700 K! You should be seeing something closer to 15,000 K (15MB down).
  7. If you have a 5th wheel with outside exposed plumbing you may need to reconsider your options as there is no real way to insulate any of that.
  8. It will be fine. You have a hill to climb after entering the park but it's easy, wide and had guard rails on the other side of the road. You will be on the inside track anyway, not anywhere near an edge. It's easy and you will enjoy the view as you come up on the lake. Have a great trip.
  9. What chassis do you have? You can check what's available from HWH here: http://www.hwh.com/ml44100m5f5_mh_a.html
  10. You can't, and it's likely too late to prove what was done was done by Shorewood's negligence, but you can document the repairs, send some certified letters and when all else fails engage a lawyer. I suspect that Shorewood did some repairs and you did not require them to do the others you may be dead in the water. HOWEVER, I am not a lawyer and I think you need some legal advice.
  11. Portable where you do all the work (cheap), a portable automatic antenna that you can throw on the ground (more expensive) or just mobile automatic that would be roof mounted (expensive)? What are you looking for? Middle ground cheap starts here but you have to do all of the work. http://www.tv4rv.com/sunshop/
  12. I think I could run my generator close to 24 hours a day and not spend $62. I have never had to do this in ABQ in October (usually heat, not A/C) so a couple of hours in the AM and a few hours in the PM and my fuel usage is low enough to make dry camping a very affordable option. If you have any solar it would be even less expensive. Now, here's the thing. If this is going to be a "once in a lifetime experience" I would try to get reservations at the Presidential campground. Full hookup and most likely somewhere around $100/night but it is ABSOLUTELY worth it ONCE. You just move from your RV to the edge of the hill and watch it all. You can even rent a golf cart (also not cheap) and drive from there onto the field during the day and during the evening glows. The Balloon Fiesta is very close to the #1 event that we enjoy as often as possible and it appears we may be there this year as well after a 3 year absence. We are so looking forward to doing it again (7th or 8th time?).
  13. Yep, it's true. Just because you own an RV does not mean you give a, hum, crap, about anyone else. We have become a me, me, me society and while RVing does tend to have us dealing with mostly sociable folks, those, "I don't give a, hum, crap about you" are still out there. You did more than I would have done so I give you "props" for the effort. I am just sorry to hear that you did what you could and this was still considered not enough. Don't color us all in the same light that those morons but also don't assume everyone is going to be as cordial as you.
  14. Dry camp at the Sandia Casino! Awesome. They even put out dumpsters in the parking area for the RVers. Need more luxury? You better start making reservations as soon as the parks will accept them as they go fast and they go for lots of money. You can look on http://www.rvparky.com for the campgrounds in the area.
  15. Not that will work with your Hopper/Joey setup! The full sized open faced antenna (plus Solo Node) is required.
  16. If you want to turn the TV on and watch TV then you need a Winegard Trav'ler. It's a roof mounted DirecTV antenna that is fully automatic and takes nothing more than the touch of one button (and about 10 minutes) to watch TV. This is what's going to cost you somewhere near $2000 unless you are handy enough to install it yourself (very easy if you are not concerned about drilling a hole in your roof). Anything less is going to take some setup time and if you choose one of the dome style portables you will not be able to receive any of the DirecTV HDTV programming. Let us know more about your needs.
  17. I no longer need my full sized Chevy van with the drive shaft disconnect as I am now suddenly unemployed! Being thinking of moving to TX and doing gate guarding. Think I should get a 4WD if we do.
  18. I am thinking of getting rid of my current tow vehicle and buying something 4-wheel drive (auto transmission) for ease of use. Are all auto. trans. Jeep products towable or is there another 4WD tow vehicle you recommend?
  19. I have been both ways and I would prefer the I-5 option. It is only 100 miles longer (1100-1200) but it's much easier and sure "feels" faster. 95 between Vegas and Reno is not my favorite. There are a couple of towns and some twists and turns. I don't know, I just don't much care for the drive. If I am going from Reno to Vegas (or vice versa) it's really the only choice but if neither are the destination I would make other plans. Now, if you want to visit Reno or the surrounding area, by all means take 95.
  20. Grand Sierra Casino RV Park!!!!!! Stay there ever time we are in town.
  21. http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/hourlyPage.php You can check this every hour if you like. Scan down until you see the number you are looking for. Right now it reads: US 97 [IN THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA] IS CLOSED FROM 12 MI NORTH OF WEED TO 2 MI SOUTH OF MT HEBRON (SISKIYOU CO)- DUE TO A WILDFIRE - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE
  22. Go to the Tiffin forum now so you can get some good detailed information should it be available about that specific dealer. They may also be able to give you some advice about the specific model you plan to purchase as well. http://www.tiffinrvnetwork.com/forum/
  23. Norcold Refrigerator Electronic BoardWhat we like to refer to as "fire starter".
  24. I can't seem to fathom that driving more is cheaper than driving less. The more you drive the more wear and tear items you will need to replace. If you drive 40,000 miles in 3 years vs. driving 40,000 miles in 3 years you are going to have 3 times as many parts that need replacing over those years. Tires have tread life limitations which are much shorter than their years of life if you drive lots and lots of miles. If you hardly ever drive you will only need new tires every 7-10 years. Based upon mileage, I have replaced 3 sets of tires in the last 14 years ($6000 per set). Belts, oil changes, tires, wiper blades, windshields and heaven only knows what else. The more you drive the more it costs. How can any form of math come to any other conclusion?
