  1. When you are ready I'll bet it will still be there and be better.
  2. Ray, I'm just repeating what AC service people have told me about the thicker filters. My 2008 had basement AC/Heat pump. The filter location was on the left floor in the double wide closet under the carpet. In the 10 years we owned it we never had one ounce of problems with the basement AC.
  3. Roger, Up in the right hand corner of your card under "Pilot Travel Center" is there a small black banner saying "Good Sam Club?"
  4. Carl, what do you use to capture/kill mice? Anyone else?
  5. Just an aside for Herman, thanks for the info. I have had both ACLs reconstructed, both rotator cuffs repaired, right knee replaced and now left knee replaced. It does get me through screen faster. I point to my knees and tell the wand screener "Metal," and he waves me over and I'm through. So here is a story Herman. Two week follow up with Dr. Earlene comes into room with me and Dr. is going over the xrays. Earlene pipes up, "You know doctor, he's not doing his exercises at home!" She was waiting for him to admonish me. Instead! He replies, "Oh, I'm not worried about him, y'all go on trips walk around etc., he'll be fine." Na na na na Nah Na! Backfired on her. DB, I really have cabin fever waiting for the end of PT, sticking around 3 day s a week going to PT and ruining the day. It will pass, so when you get on the road I'll meet you in San Antonio.
  6. For the Winnebago AC the filter on my 2008 was 14 x 20 x 1, not 16. Thisishowweroll, As a last resort temporary fix, get some stiff wire mesh and one of those soft rubber like filters used on window ACs. Cut the mesh to the size of the opening and lay in in there. Put the filter over the top of the mesh. You can clean the filter every couple days. Forgot to mention. Look in the closet under the carpet for the cut out for the filter.
  7. 14 x 20 x 1 - I may still have a storage shed with about a dozen of them in there. If you let me know you're coming I'll check. I use the regular spun glass filter, green. AC people have told me that if you put in the thicker filters you really need to increase the air flow. Got mine at Lowe's or Home depot but you have to catch them when they get them in. You can also have them order them for you.
  8. I thought that all storage facilities had a letter of responsibility that renters had to sign. It basically said that the storage facility was not responsible for, well anything.
  9. We leave the electric on with the AH and Earlene will turn on the diesel when she gets up. We leave the grey open and having both the electric and diesel on give continuous hot water - you don't run out. After I get up and shower I turn the diesel off. If in cold climate diesel is on as we like the nice quiet sound of the AH running instead of a heat pump. As Jim said, they need to be exercised monthly and that should also include turning on the thermostat to heat for a few minutes to let the pumps and exchange get a little exercise. ------------------ On another subject, I had left knee replacement on January 21st. Going to PT 3 times a week. Seems to be healing up nice. I don't like the down time though but should be good to go the first week of April. ----------------------- On another subject, we had a deer mouse get into the coach. Did a lot of damage to the water lines. Coach is in the shop now and already up to $1000 just in evaluation hours. Insurance is covering it except for my deductible. On that note - read you policy. In order to be covered you must physically visit your coach every two weeks. Fortunately we do that as I like to check things and make sure GFI for 110v feed has not tripped. Easy stop on our way to Son's house. He lives about 1 mile from our storage facility which is about 8 miles from our house. Cheers! Happy Day Light Savings Time. Did anyone forget to change their clocks?
  10. Was 80 here today. Knees doing well - should be ready to go on the road in April.
  11. I agree with Bank of the West. Our first big purchase was with them and now the 2015 is with them. Good rates. If you don't want to do business with that RV Company give BOW a call and see if you can set up a pre-approved loan, or at least go through their credit application to make it easier at then next RV company. For us, internal layout is the most important. We want a living room to walk into either right off of the captain and co-pilot chairs or a door just behind the co-pilot chair. Reasoning is that when guests are over the pilot/co-pilot chairs can be turned for extra seating and the guest don't have to talk across a forward kitchen to talk to other guests. Another of our peeves was to NOT have couches opposing each other and one have a television that raises behind it. Our thinking was that if we did have a couple guests over to watch Superbowl, they would not have to kneel on the couch in front of the TV to watch the game, giving us a view of their derriere. I'll bet you have figured all of your desire out. I'm just ranting. Try Bank of the West. They have been good for us.
  12. If you call Dually Valves (818) 352-8717 x 111, ---(800) 300-2674 x 111, ---Fax: (818) 352-8119, ---Business Hours: M-F 8:30am - 5:00pm PST, they will help you in selecting the correct product. Visit their web site Dually Valves and you will see what they have to offer. Their product fits the majority of vehicles on the road. These products are NOT extensions, they are one piece valves designed to fit a myriad of wheels. That is all the information that I can provide. Phone calls are real cheap.
  13. Well, while we are on the subject of toilet paper, we decided to drop into Costco today and since we were "running" low, by some TP. Seems like there is a fear factor now and as soon as Costco stocks it they sell out and they have set a limit. It only took one news broadcast of a couple cases of the Coronavirus in the Houston area for the fear factor to set in. You can expect that as the numbers ramp up there will be other stock piling runs on stores for staples and supplies. We did stop at our local H.E.B., and was able to purchase a package. Everything now is going to be "wiped clean."
  14. I can attest that Dually Valves has an excellent product. They will work with you to make sure you get the right valves. These are not extensions. they take the place of the present valve they just have bends in them to make the valves fit the rims. No more having to reach inside a rear dual to put in or let out air. Also they are stable enough that I put flow through TST TPM'S on each one. With the flow through there is no need to unscrew the sensor to fill the tire, just the cap like on a regular valve. I don't work for Dually Valves. Give them a call. If you don't like or want their product try someplace else. Edited: Some tire shops sell for Dually Valves, and I have a shop about 25 miles up the road from me that had Dually Valves in stock. Ask.
  15. Ah! Those Canadians. They use less and clean better.
  16. Staying in a park a time back and the person next to us had a 5er with short bed and slider. He had a couple spare tires leaning against the back of the cab. Asked best way to get out of park. I told him to turn right out of the spot and go to the turn-around then back this way and out. It was to sharp of a turn to go left and out the park. He didn't listen. I watched him pick up glass from his back window for about 30 minutes. Always use the slider.

    tires.....

On my 2008 I found that the Toyo's were considerably cheaper than the Michelin's. I did not notice a big difference in ride or handling. When it's time for new shoes on the 2015 I'll most likely go to Toyo's. Just be aware that there are width and height differences between brands. Height can affect MPH and width can affect sidewall rubbing on duals. Here is a link to one tire size calculator
  18. If I were not going aboard Military Bases to spend the night or longer, I would most likely carry one in the MH. However, by staying at the bases I spend somewhere around $20 a night and out in the Ville it is $40 to $60, or more per night. Also it is typically safer on the military installation. Now shopping in the towns is a different story but I can't have the best of both worlds. I don't begrudge anyone for having a firearm in their MH and I hope you never do have to use it. Have you ever been shot at and shot back? Can you shoot back? I can. Yes Ray, it is definitely last resort. In the military we were taught that it was to protect life and Government property. I think in the civilian world it should be to protect life but I believe property can be replaced. That is what insurances are for, right? Now around here when not traveling it is a best guess as to what I might have on my person.
  19. It doesn't affect me. I either get fuel at PFJ or I get fuel at one of the TSD participating stations. Most likely it will be the latter at the better discounts. I will not rule out PFJ but it will depend if my planning is off and I need fuel. Whining about GS and contracts is not going to solve a thing. I would even suggest that calling anyone would go upon deaf ears as you will never get to top management. Knowing that this is taking place allows one to use their own judgement on what they are going to purchase.
  20. Seen one here locally that was maybe even smaller. Double axle most likely because kitchen sits over it - heavier appliances.
  21. I had to show two picture ID's for my renewal last year. It now has the "Real ID" gold star. Edited: Nope, only unexpired TxDL as I remember it. Here is a quote from TxDPS: "Beginning October 1, 2020, only state-issued driver licenses and identification cards that are fully compliant with the REAL ID Act will be accepted for official federal government purposes, such as entering secure federal buildings or boarding domestic flights. Texas began issuing REAL ID compliant cards on October 10, 2016, and these cards are marked with a gold circle with an inset star located in the upper right-hand corner... " If you want to fly or go into a federal building you need to get a "Real ID" driver license. I believe passports will still be honored. Isn't it strange how reciprocal gun licenses to carry are handled the way they are. Example is NY. NY LTC can carry in Texas but Texas LTC cannot carry in NY. Lot's of other states have that type reciprocity. Beware. When in doubt, leave it home. Just as information, how many of you over the years that take a weapon with you in your RV have actually had the need to use it. Better yet, the mental urge that you might need to use it.
  22. I originally used ZIP ties and tied the plate to the back support runners of the ladder. It is still visible and the step is still in use, just a little narrow in depth. UV Light will eventually make the ZIP ties brittle so if you use that method by some that are UV tolerant and in any case change them out on a scheduled basis. The best method is to use the PLATE BRACKET sold by Kiley Mold and if you are ingenious you may be able to make a bracket that will allow the entire step to be used.
  23. "W", The gauge of wire, smaller the number larger the diameter of the wire we have a big determination on the length. I personally used an 8 AWG wire and had about 30 ft from a previous life. Pulled into a "pull-in" site at one CG where the pedestal was at the front of the site. Rail road ties where there to prevent over-roll and Ihad to stop short because when the air dumped I would have hung up. I was 5 feet short of reaching the pedestal with my normal configuration. I used that 30 ft extension without a problem running two AC's and anything else in the course of a normal day on 50amp supply. The Winnebago Electrical Management System must have worked well. As stated, you CANNOT plug into a house dryer receptacle. If your children's house does not have a properly wired RV Outlet, don't plug in. How much extra distance are you talking about?
  24. Agree Joe, but my father was from the Adirondacks and it is beautiful up there. Roads are wonderful. I look at NY like I look at CA. I like to visit some areas but I wouldn't want to live there and my time visiting is short. Several years ago we stayed at Little Wolf campground in Tupper Lake. When I called and asked for reservations for my 40' MH he said he could get me into one spot. We got there got parked and the spot was the very first one you look at coming into the CG and you were looking broadside at the MH. Heard comments like, "Oh my!" or "I've never seen one that big before!" Most of the RV's in there were the TT variety and short. CG was built way back when max lengths may have been 25-30 feet. We took back roads down to US 7 and over to US 2 to get to Central Mass. Only 268 miles to destination. Roads were great. US-2 had a few narrow spots but very doable. Heard Lake Placid had some nice CG's but we did not stop there. I don't have to worry about firearms when traveling as I stated before. We go aboard Federal Reservations and firearms are a No No. Also, we never know if we are going to detour through Canada and that is another area you don't want to take firearms. In all the years of RV traveling - never missed having a firearm. You may be limiting yourself to some wonderful sights by not visiting areas.
