  1. Ha! I returned to the US in the beginning of 1974. Housing priced doubled, then we had the "gas shortage." The service station owner I dealt with told me I could have as much gas as I wanted as there was no shortage. He could get all the gas he wanted. Rationing was a sham!
  2. Hey, if Russia and Saudi are having an oil price war, how come our gas prices have dropped so much. I paid $1.84 CC price yesterday. Great to see it under $2.
  3. I hope Reggie comes back. That was his first post.
  4. That is correct, but people were purchasing plywood in preparation of a hurricane. Not knowing exactly where it was going to make landfall. I was one of them. I had retired from the military in 1984 and we were rather concerned about high winds from any storms. Didn't happen that strong here but I was prepared. As I said, "I think" it was Gilbert, but there were others: Bonnie (High Island) Chantel (Again High Island) Jerry (Galveston) Minimal, but I was still prepared.
  5. Good article. Just for fun and giggles, know what people would do, I went on Amazon when the hand sanitizers were becoming scarce. We don't need any as we have a big bottle refill that we purchase some time ago - lasts forever. I saw one price, can't remember the size, for $400. Reminds me of when we first got to Texas City. A hurricane, I think it was Gilbert was brewing and I wanted to board up my windows. The local home improvement store was "Handy Dan." When I got there, 1/2" plywood sheets were selling for something like $36 - 3 times more than original. I didn't buy any and went to the local lumber store, Bohn's Lumber and purchase sheets as $12 each - normal price at that time. Handy Dan went out of business in 1989 and that was shortly after its price gouging here in TC
  6. Well. when we first discovered dropping inside I had walked to where the 110v entered into the compartment. They/it were not satisfied with just climbing the cord but also chewing on the insulation leaving tell-tale remnants on the ground. They can get in with a hole the size of a dime.
  7. David, They ate 3 hoses. One going to the outside kitchen quick disconnect, and two going to the washing machine. Little buggers were not satisfied with just one hole in the washing machine hose, they ate 3. I guess when they couldn't get anymore water out of the top most hole because the pump was not on they just shuffled down a little on the hose. I caught the deer mouse in a trap. I now have bait, repellent, and traps set plus the storage facility put out traps at every I-beam support. Total bill was $1018 and my diminishing deductible was $188, so I'm happy price wise. Be aware, anyone storing an RV. Some, if not all, insurance companies require that you physically visit and inspect your RV every two weeks or they will not cover your costs. Fortunately we do visit every two weeks, sometimes less.
  8. Brett, I don't think there needs to be discussions on this. It's done.
  9. I was replying to Joe's comment. Are there any MH's with rear disc brakes? I thought I had heard that some models do, but then thought only thought he did.
  10. Well, I would expect that if one had to pull the emergency knob they would also be applying brake pedal pressure. Not a good thing, but definitely stop a coach quicker. Just an air leak to below 65+/- psi would be a slower rolling stop. Mike's demo was very good and informative - as is everything at Gaffney.
  11. It will never be finished. Like I-45 South of Houston. Engineers and workers have retired from their jobs after spending 20+ years on that stretch of highway. it is under a major change right now.
  12. Now Carl, I was working on the WAG principle, not the SWAG principle Also, when he finds the filter it should say on the side what the dimensions are. I'd go from there to the store. ?
  13. Thanks Carl. I'm going to visit the repair shop today. The insurance adjuster called me and said he added the repair parts for the parts they found damaged, water hoses. They are going to pressurize it today and check for more leaks. When I tried adding water it was like Niagara coming out where the back bathroom is. The hoses so far the replaced was the ones to the washing machine. Three gnaw points. I told the adjuster that after the water leaks are tested and fixed I want to start the generator and push all the electronic buttons I can find. Sucks big time.
  14. Kay, I had one on the air dryer fail in the open position. Fortunately the the air governor kept it at about 70 psi and I made it to a Freighliner shop. Yep, frightening However I do know that if the air brakes engage while you are driving down the road it will not throw everything to the front. Depending on how fast you are going it could be a few hindered feet before the coach comes to a rolling stop. Mike at Gaffney Freighliner demonstrated it by pulling the "emergency" button at about 45 MPH. Bus just came to an easy rolling stop.
  15. When you are ready I'll bet it will still be there and be better.
  16. Ray, I'm just repeating what AC service people have told me about the thicker filters. My 2008 had basement AC/Heat pump. The filter location was on the left floor in the double wide closet under the carpet. In the 10 years we owned it we never had one ounce of problems with the basement AC.
  17. Roger, Up in the right hand corner of your card under "Pilot Travel Center" is there a small black banner saying "Good Sam Club?"
  18. Carl, what do you use to capture/kill mice? Anyone else?
  19. Just an aside for Herman, thanks for the info. I have had both ACLs reconstructed, both rotator cuffs repaired, right knee replaced and now left knee replaced. It does get me through screen faster. I point to my knees and tell the wand screener "Metal," and he waves me over and I'm through. So here is a story Herman. Two week follow up with Dr. Earlene comes into room with me and Dr. is going over the xrays. Earlene pipes up, "You know doctor, he's not doing his exercises at home!" She was waiting for him to admonish me. Instead! He replies, "Oh, I'm not worried about him, y'all go on trips walk around etc., he'll be fine." Na na na na Nah Na! Backfired on her. DB, I really have cabin fever waiting for the end of PT, sticking around 3 day s a week going to PT and ruining the day. It will pass, so when you get on the road I'll meet you in San Antonio.
  20. For the Winnebago AC the filter on my 2008 was 14 x 20 x 1, not 16. Thisishowweroll, As a last resort temporary fix, get some stiff wire mesh and one of those soft rubber like filters used on window ACs. Cut the mesh to the size of the opening and lay in in there. Put the filter over the top of the mesh. You can clean the filter every couple days. Forgot to mention. Look in the closet under the carpet for the cut out for the filter.
  21. 14 x 20 x 1 - I may still have a storage shed with about a dozen of them in there. If you let me know you're coming I'll check. I use the regular spun glass filter, green. AC people have told me that if you put in the thicker filters you really need to increase the air flow. Got mine at Lowe's or Home depot but you have to catch them when they get them in. You can also have them order them for you.
