  1. The hard wired surge protector also protects you from bad cords and extensions cords as per this discussion.
  2. Yesterday morning the I heard a hiss when I accelerated only. When I got back home I inspected for a boost leak and exhaust leak. I didn't think it was a boost leak as the gauges show a good 30 psi when acceleration. I saw exhaust stain from the side of number three cylinder where the exhaust manifold bolt to the head. I was surprise because the exhaust manifold is a 2 piece design. I sprayed with Deep Creep and loosen all bolts while engine was still warm. I run to Freightliner and picked up six multi-layer steel exhaust gasket. By time I get back the engine has cooled. I then removed all top bolts from manifold to head and screw them back in a few threads. After that I remove all of the bottom bolts. I then pried the manifold away from the head which gave me about 1/4 inch of space. I then removed one top bolt at a time, replace the gasket and threaded the top and bottom bolt a few threads until all was done. I found one multi-layer steel gasket had split and another had a slot on number three cylinder. That was most likely the source of the hiss noise so I torqued the manifold down knowing I won't have to take the manifold off. Attached to that exhaust manifold is the turbocharger and to the turbocharge is the exhaust brake. This method saved me lots of money and time.
  3. Is that what you supposed to do with a broken Norcold? Maybe make sure it's a Dometic so no one will complain about it's performance as a litter box. LOL
  4. I know that larger truck stops have accessory and some have a separate chrome shop in the same lot. Look for truck stop with truck RV wash and may be right next to it as they also polish wheels.
  5. The bucket is a great idea and I use for tire chains, w/s solvent with lids on both. You never know what you get at truck stops.
  6. I believe it would be the same as doing a Norcold if you do a search. I think taking the doors off to make the unit lighter will help to handle it better.
  7. Tuffy did great in CA this year and helped to keep the dog in line.
  8. I never had to use a extension but had to use adapter for 30 amps. I think you will be lugging and storing a very heavy cord for no reason. I would rather dry camp than stretch a power core that long as can be either be a fire hazard or be damaging to the coach with not providing enough amps to one leg or another.
  9. If you haven't got them yet these are the one I got with removal tool. They look so much better than the metal and won't tarnish. http://www.ebay.com/itm/60-Chrome-ABS-Plastic-Pointed-Lug-Nut-Covers-33mm-Flanged-W-Removal-Tool-/141663188777
  10. When I worked fleet we use to weld headlight rings back together with a spot welder. Link to one below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/251726184615?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82
  11. Our coach has a queen size bed, a full size sofa bed, a dinette that convert for two kids and a jackknife love seat for one kid. That makes seven but thank goodness that never happen.
  12. Finally got all the stuff out of the motorhome inside and basement. I didn't realize how much stuff this motorhome could hold as It took a long process of going front to rear. Wife said no to leaving dishes or pots and pans but I will throw extra accessory to private buyers. I started looking it over and only found a few screws that needed replacing so I got that done. Tomorrow all cabinets will be vacuum out and washed. Lucky the coach has it own central vacuum system. The chassis and generator had a complete service in November. Since then it also got a new air filter, alternator and radiator cap that I felt the chassis shop overlooked. While we were in Desert Hot Springs, CA I replaced all the lug nut caps as the metal ones was to hard to keep polish. My wife and I have OCD so we have to have everything perfect including the coach. One of my reason of doing so many upgrades.
  13. That slinky thing always looked cumbersome to me.
  14. The filter under the sink should be replaced every year with that said I'm going to tell you what happen to my coach. I was dealing with low water pressure at a campground and removed the pressure regulator. I used a charcoal filter on the incoming line to the coach at the campground water hookup. Unknown to me the campground fixed the water pressure problem. I began seeing black dust when I flushed the toilet. Then the dust got bigger into chunks to the point it ruin the toilet flush valve. The moral of this story is always use the pressure regulator at a campground hookup. New charcoal filters needs to be flushed before hooked to the coach.
  15. Carl, I think I understand what Roger is driving at, unfortunately that is not what happen at IRV2 forum. I had same question posted here at FMCA and found much better crowd.
  16. Thank you Carl, I know it will be a sweet deal to the new owner. I love this coach and don't really want to let it go. I'm going to get back with the wife about dishes, pots and pans glasses so new owner only need to load clothes and food. Yes it will have a full tank of fuel.
  17. Thank you all for the comments. I'm having a hard time to motivate and clear all the stuff out and go over the coach to see if anything needs repairing. I got a month before spring.
  18. Thanks Brett, again a great answer from you. I will call The Bank of the West tomorrow and get a contact person. The payoff amount is easy as it will give the 10 day by touch phone. I expect to come out ahead on the loan but I will have to make the deal for new owner sweet.
  19. There is one snag that I not dealt with before. The title to the coach is held by the loan company and sure they won't release until they receive the payoff. I wonder if how the new loan company would handle it if new owner got a loan? The title to the Jeep is clear and I never sold a vehicle that had a loan on it.
  20. I just found out the ExtraRide mechanical coverage is transferable. It is good until 11-30-2017. I'm going to sell turn key with toad and accessory for $95K. Good deal as both the coach and toad is in great shape with many upgrades. It is sad for me as I really love this coach. It should be ready by early spring if not sooner. I have to scrub it inside and out so it will look nearly new.
  21. Thanks Brett, I didn't know that and is good to know I won't be booted from FMCA. I have to remove the goose eggs.
  22. We have to sell because of my wife health as she can't handle RV life anymore. El Nino sure didn't help in Desert Hot Springs as it brought unseasonable wind and rain in the area. Even though I have low miles and many upgrades I like to find a way to get out from under the loan. I will call today for balance vs value today. My wife don't like to make payments on a coach that not going to be used often. I also wonder if Bank of The West will allow take over the load. Lucky for me there is no issues I know that needs to be fix and service is up to date but it will need a good cleaning and polish. That will be hard for the outside with the NW many days of rain. I thought about selling with the toad and all towing equipment to bring more value to the coach as the setup works perfect together. I wonder if the FMCA membership is transferable to the new owners as I will be out of it or do I have to remove the goose eggs and let my membership expire?
  23. No the Ambassador generator is on a manual slide. No big deal to side it out but now have covers all around to make it quiet.
  24. I had a 93 Southwind that had a diesel generator and to replace the belt I removed the radiator. It would of been a nightmare to remove that generator as the only access was through a small hood and underneath.
  25. I got up this morning and code Sr was on the Norcold 1200 and it was not running. I turned off the fridge and it turn back on with no problem or codes. We had gusty wind last night so I guess a gust snuffed the flame and got a sensor code. Been fine all day since the reset.
