Securing Food In Residential Refrigerator
huffypuff replied to dobelbower's topic in Systems and Appliances
My DW stuff the refrigerator so full I don't like to even open the door and look inside. LOL -
Hello Tom, Like I said I leave the exhaust brake on in stop and go driving. What it does is let the exhaust brake and transmission keep the speed down if I need not to hit the brakes for small 4 wheeler cutting in and out. It cancel the cruise control and shut off below 15 MPH. I haven't noticed any loss in fuel mileage other than what you would lose in stop and go driving anyway. The exhaust brake do not turn on the injectors but rather may be turned off. Otherwise I use on steep grades again to minimize having to hit the brakes. This save the brake shoes from excessive wear and the drums from excessive heat, hot spots and warping. If I didn't use the exhaust brake or foot brakes going down grades the coach would speed down the grade like a runaway freight train. I check my owners manual and it states nothing about when to use. It does state that you may have to manually downshift the transmission if there isn't enough exhaust braking as it depends on engine RPM. I drive conservatively and know if leaving lots of space in front of my coach can get you cut off. I can show you a video of myself cruising at 60 MPH on I-10 and getting cut off by a double tractor trailer. There are lots of wackos out there so I rather be safe than sorry.

Sounds like you have to swap out the inverter for a 120v one. Not knowing your coach and current inverter behind your TV makes it hard for us to answer this.

I leave my exhaust brake on in stop and go traffic. It saves wear and tear on the coach and me.

I know about computers as I have to have several in the shop, one for customers and accounting, another for reprogramming vehicles and an Android for diagnosing vehicles, I have 2 other Android smart phone and note pad to keep in touch. Then in the house there is 2 computers and the wife using using 2 Androids smart phone and kindle fire. Life use to be simple. Good luck what you have to contend with your computer.

Bob, When you compare basic service to platinum on gs or cn there is a big different. I'm not looking for the cheapest but the best of services. When I see complaints about the service the first question that come to mind is what level of service did they pay for. I'm willing to bet that many of those complaints paid for basic and expecting platinum. I don't expect to go in a Chevrolet dealership and but a Vega and expect it to ride and perform like a Caprice. That is why I had cheap I didn't make a fuss about not sending a mechanic to the campground because I didn't pay for that. My mistake but at least I would be towed to the nearest dealer if I was on the road. Being able to cancel AAA helps justify the extra cost to going to platinum but also have much more additional benefits. Thanks for your feedback. Herman and Bill thank you for your feedback also. Judatt I don't know anything about blue sky, I guess if someone that knows don't see it here it may be best to post a new thread.

I believe that I had GS basic before at only $79.95 per and may be why not covered at campground. I believed that I did three years for a better deal. So now they are offering renewal at 109.95 per year for Platinum level that covers so much more. I guess I got what I paid for and reason I looking at disclaimers and not covered.

I having a hard time deciding between GS, CN or FMCA roadside assistance coverage. The one experience I had with GS is when my coach front jack stuck in down position. Since it was in a campground they wouldn't send anyone so I'm looking for new as it is expiring Dec. 13. I'm looking for current experiences as FMCA has since stepped into the service.

If the garage and slab is built to code and level I don't think you will have a problem.

I appears that his coach has 7" round sealed beams and probably made of glass. Bill $400 for one LED headlamp. I would pass on that.- 15 replies

I don't know what coach you have but my answer would if you have a large one especially with a one piece windshield. If the blocks under the levelers cause the frame to twist you could crack the windshield.

Cost Of Running Refrigerator On Propane vs Shore Power
huffypuff replied to huffypuff's topic in Systems and Appliances
Lenp I enter the electric cost 13.5x22=$297 <~~~~~ I guess this is the break even point so anything below that would be saving? I miss the second part where you show the equivalent cost of propane. Thanks for your help.- 6 replies

Sylvania makes the Silverstar and probably the cheapest fix to try. Here is a link with reviews. http://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-SilverStar-Performance-Halogen-Headlight/dp/B000COCTWG- 15 replies

Sounds like you have a voltage and surge protector that monitor shore power. The thunk is when it allows the power if there is no faults. It don't use any power when not on shore power.

I'm getting ready to snowbird to Desert Hot Springs for a few months this winter. With the cost of propane down at about $2.00 a gallon I was wondering what it would cost to run the refrigerator off of propane compare to shore power. Shore power is 13.5 cents per amp hour and was costing me about $60 per month. The information I was able to look up so far is that the refrigerator is about 500 watts running on shore power. Someone has posted somewhere on the web a formula of calculating the break even point of kwh cost compare to cost of a gallon of propane but I can't seem to find it. The question is how long will a 12 cu feet refrigerator run on a gallon of propane. I figure that about half of the cost of shore power I used last year was for the refrigerator alone but I could be wrong. Does anyone know the calculation?

While you are towing they count each axle like a 18 wheeler. Many times it would be best to disconnect and drive both through tolls in separate lanes. I once paid more than $45 for 4 axles and to cross a bridge when both vehicles would of been $9. Now I use avoid tolls on the GPS as I did on the return trip and for now on.

Best Way To Brighten Headlights: Winnebago Journey
huffypuff replied to rlbarkleyii's topic in Type A motorhomes
I just talked to a customer who tried Siverstar seal beams and says the low beams are way better but the high beams are about the same. I imagine the same would work if yours uses the bulbs. That is all else is OK voltage and plastic lens. If dull discolor lens my experience working at a county fleet is to replace them. We would polish them and not get the desire results especially on police cars. These are vehicles that are less than ten years old.- 15 replies
