  1. Herman, you got it backwards, inverter is for icemaker when driving and dry camping. The shore power is to power the two heating elements when not on LP that will spin the meter fast. Also the shore power one should be active when the generator is running.
  2. Yes I had already looked up that monitor $450 plus to replace with a LCD and adapter bracket. It would fit in that same dash cutout as the old one. When I put it back in the dash and it continue to work, I tried not to blink.
  3. There is a new type of slide that requires no topper and not only wipes clean but shuts flush without the tell tail flange on the edges. I saw one up close on a high end Newell coach and it looked great. This one also had electric front door with two heavy duty arms that moves the door to the back of the coach. I hate to think how much that coach cost.
  4. I had two of the toppers replaced at Coos Bay, OR last summer because they starting to rip. The other two was replaced when I brought the coach. ShadePro that did the work did a great job and have the new toppers nice and tight and tighten the other two. I also got a drop screen from them for the 17' awning at a great price. They are at many of FMCA rally's and I recommend them as was the best money spent for professional work. Other companies seem to try to run away with your wallet.
  5. They also won't accept a coach that is 10+ years old. Only for the elite.
  6. My wife has cancer beat four plus times but after so many years she can't handle it anymore and have no strength. Lucky for us we got to use our coach for the last four years without major problems. I heard about the Cummins ISX 650 dropping valves and sorry to hear of such expense. Good luck to you and your wife to continue on.
  7. They use to be but not anymore as they changed hands several times over the years.
  8. Sorry I was hoping somebody had same problem and knew the answer. What I end up doing since I was in to it and it was working again I disconnected the right turn camera from Aladdin and hooked directly to the Weldex monitor. I verified that the monitor showed the turn camera while switched on manual select and it did. I turn the monitor on and off about 5 times until it failed again. The turn camera that was hooked up directly was also dark screen. That told me that the problem was with the monitor and not the Aladdin system. I removed the monitor and removed the back case to expose the inside of the monitor. I couldn't see or smell where the smoke was let out (damage indication) so I wiggle all the connectors I can find. I paid special attention to the connector on the back of the picture tube. It was sealed and glued in place but I made sure I wiggle it real good without breaking it. I put the monitor back in the coach and tried turning it off and on 20 plus times and it worked flawlessly every time. Seems like it was a bad connection somehow inside the monitor. I hope it stays that way a little while longer.
  9. Well when it rains it pours. Coach is almost ready to show off and the monitor will have a dark screen at times. All other times it works great. It is a Weldex three camera monitor with Aladdin system feeding the six pin connector in the rear of the monitor. It has two other connectors for the turn signals cameras that are not hooked to the monitor. The Aladdin system shows engine/trans, electrical data as well as turn signals and motorized rear camera with sound. I remove the monitor and the Aladdin module and checked if they are getting enough voltage. Voltage checked out fine and all connection look clean. After I put everything back together the monitor stayed dark for about 30 minutes then came on and worked perfect. This morning everything came on fine but I can get it to act up if I turn it off then back on. Took about 5 tries before the screen would stay dark. The big question remains is is it the Weldex monitor or the Aladdin system. I did noticed when the monitor was working that if I manually switch away to a camera not plugged in the screen would be dark. So it appears that if no data will give dark screen. Has anyone experienced problem like this with the Weldex/Aladdin system? Would it be worth it to open up the monitor and look inside. If so what would I be looking for?
  10. Finally got it on the road test today and quiet as a mouse. Should be good to go for a long time.
  11. When I got my tires shipped fresh to the dealer they turned out a few months old anyway. If your tire dealer has them in stock ask them to see the date code before you approve the sale. Six months old when they get to the dealer isn't unheard of as RV tires are made in batches. If your tire dealer have them in stock they are ahead of the game. BTW I have the XZA3 Energy on my coach and love them.
  12. Many will quit drinking after seeing that. LOL just kidding you and I bet that was a sight to see.
  13. Ha you know it that it has to have the last word. I also was spanked for saying the s word. As for tools, my extra set is going to be my extra set. I hope to put them to good use.
  14. Yes number one cylinder was hardest on this one also. The top one interference from thermostat goose neck and the bottom one nearly impossible to get to and interference from alternator cables. I also remember to put anti-seize on the bolt threads. Only one gasket was cracked and missing a chunk here.
  15. I got caught by auto-correct without noticing it. Change Leece Neville to Leech Neville. LOL
  16. Be glad it's not a marine engine that has water cooled exhaust manifolds.
  17. Yes this was a easy fix with 2 piece manifold that 10 years old and with nearly 48k on it. If it was a one piece manifold I would of sent it to a machine shop to have it resurface as number three is near the middle with no flexibility to torque it down.
  18. The Freightliner shop I take it to don't seem to do any repair work unless it cost over $1,000. It cost me $65 including tax for six gaskets. Oh and a few aches and pain from working over a step and a hole in the floor.
  19. The hard wired surge protector also protects you from bad cords and extensions cords as per this discussion.
  20. Yesterday morning the I heard a hiss when I accelerated only. When I got back home I inspected for a boost leak and exhaust leak. I didn't think it was a boost leak as the gauges show a good 30 psi when acceleration. I saw exhaust stain from the side of number three cylinder where the exhaust manifold bolt to the head. I was surprise because the exhaust manifold is a 2 piece design. I sprayed with Deep Creep and loosen all bolts while engine was still warm. I run to Freightliner and picked up six multi-layer steel exhaust gasket. By time I get back the engine has cooled. I then removed all top bolts from manifold to head and screw them back in a few threads. After that I remove all of the bottom bolts. I then pried the manifold away from the head which gave me about 1/4 inch of space. I then removed one top bolt at a time, replace the gasket and threaded the top and bottom bolt a few threads until all was done. I found one multi-layer steel gasket had split and another had a slot on number three cylinder. That was most likely the source of the hiss noise so I torqued the manifold down knowing I won't have to take the manifold off. Attached to that exhaust manifold is the turbocharger and to the turbocharge is the exhaust brake. This method saved me lots of money and time.
  21. Is that what you supposed to do with a broken Norcold? Maybe make sure it's a Dometic so no one will complain about it's performance as a litter box. LOL
  22. I know that larger truck stops have accessory and some have a separate chrome shop in the same lot. Look for truck stop with truck RV wash and may be right next to it as they also polish wheels.
  23. The bucket is a great idea and I use for tire chains, w/s solvent with lids on both. You never know what you get at truck stops.
  24. I believe it would be the same as doing a Norcold if you do a search. I think taking the doors off to make the unit lighter will help to handle it better.
