I'm getting my trusty 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD set up to be a toad. Since I been using a trailer 4 wheels off the ground I want to touch base here so I don't miss anything for 4 wheel down is new to me. The following Items I snagged for the project: 1 Roadmaster Eagle 8000 tow bar complete with base plates for chevy pickup for $200. I sold the base plates for $200 on Craigslist but not able to find used for my vehicle so $399 new from e-trailer. Also a new set of RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs $46 from e-trailer. So complete tow bar set up $445. 2 Roadmaster Even Brake used only twice $200 plus I have 2nd vehicle kit on the way for $150 from e-trailer and still save $900. They had their toad wired with the transmitter but not the breakaway. Scary! 3 I picked up a pair of magnetic tow lights from Camping World for $35. I'm thinking that it makes it simple since two vehicles electrical systems won't get mixed up. I think the two issues are feedback and turn signals and brake light issues. I also won't have to install the brake light relay kit that comes with the 2nd vehicle kit. That's what I have so far is there anything I missed that I should know?

I guess I was thinking about a combination unit as in this link. Thats what I have and feel more safe with it. Sometimes a pain at the beginning of the season for it to reset on the 93 I had. http://www.dyersonline.com/rv-appliances/lp-gas/carbon-monoxide-lp-detectors.html

All of the RVs I owned the co detector turned off the propane if it sense a leak. Something to think about.

There is an oil pressure line connected to the air compressor. Sometimes it is run between the engine block and the compressor and it could be that line leaking instead.

I had the shaft break in half on bearing coupler and made the same noise. In my case was replace the bearing assembly with it's two brackets about $90 part. I was abled to push the slide in with a couple of people. Lucky that slide wasn't too big to handle.

Certain years of Cummins engine have problems with fuel control module mounted on the injection pump. The problem is that they can't handle the heat and will have the symptoms you are experiencing. Take it back to the shop that installed the injection pump for warranty.

Good news is it's electrical not mechanical. Somehow the shutoff solenoid is being fed electrical power when you shut off the ignition. You can verified this with a test light and unplugging the solenoid when engine is running. If engine shuts off at that point then try unplugging the ignition switch while engine is running. If engine shuts off when you disconnect the ignition switch, you found the problem. if not you need to take it to a chassis shop.

Mid December is a risk for snow and I don't know how you will avoids passes. May not necessarily snow that time of year but there is a way to travel during that time. If you are coming up to a pass that has snow, stop before and check the local radio or TV for condition. Sometimes best to camp for the night and wait til cleared usually mid-afternoon the next day to be safe. Good luck! -
We stayed at Indian Waters on Jefferson Street. Very nice and clean with lots of room for large rigs.

Norcold 1200 Refrigerator Failure
huffypuff replied to carlpeterson's topic in Systems and Appliances
It's a safety device so you don't want to leave it bypass. If it doesn't reset with strong magnet the board is defective if not the cooling unit. Have it looked at soon.. -
The first word that come to my mind is rent. There are dealers that rent and one of them is Camping World. Welcome to America!

Hold a strong magnet to the right of the light on the bypass box for about 5 seconds. You will hear a click and the bypass box will reboot. If all is well the light will go out and the controls will be working again. -
I wanted it for the Walmart listing and the big rig campgrounds.

I just signed up for roadside assistance and was going to order the FMCA Road Atlas & Travel Guide, 50th Anniversary Edition. The person told me it wasn't available until December 15, 2013. I cancel the atlas because I will be on the road by then. Now I see here that it's in stock. I wouldn't expect it would take 2 1/2 months to ship. How could it be in stock or am I missing something?

huffypuff replied to custom1's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I been looking for awhile for use baseplate for 2006 Jeep Liberty for a good while now. Also for Roadmaster tow bar setup. Looks like we have to give up and buy new. -
This is how to weld terminals on 0000 AWG battery cable. You can also use a small torch for the heat and I prefer heat shrink warp for the joints when done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7vNQki7UgQ

Your vehicle is listed OK to tow but may need an dealer-installed neutral Tow Kit.

Bad point is I got my nice used coach because the former owner lost it to the bank. Low miles on it but lots of fixing to do.

What was the part numbers for them wiper arms. Not only would I like local blades to use but like to have shorter blades so not to drag as much as 28 - 32 inch blades.

I had that refrigerator trip on my Holiday while I was on my Alaska trip. Happen in a enclosed RV wash up in Fort Nelson, BC. I had to call back to the dealer to learn how to reset it and was in TOK, Alaska before I bypass the entire box about 24 hours later. Lucky no harm done, since reset by magnet had no problem since. Thanks for the hints, I will check my slides for mine had those gutters.

Rich I know it shorted and had to stop because the fuse is also on the driver side shade. I'm not an electrical guy but I can try to slap the back of the hand of the offending person and see how far that will get me.

101 is 2 lane scenery route and I-5 is interstate highway with many lanes. 101 is a long way around and will take you all day just to drive from OR to Olympia, WA city. If you have the time go the long slow route, if you need to move quick then take I-5.
