  1. mycroft, Good Sam does cover your rig and your tow vehicle. I have a Good Sam card in each vehicle for the inevitable emergency that will occur. Just used Good Sam to jump start my 2013 CRV as I stupidly left the key in ACCY overnight. Called Good Sam and in 30 minutes had my tow started. I have to agree that each situation is unique and both companies have plusses and minuses.
  2. Tucson will be low 70's today.......got to love this weather, but our turn will come soon enough.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I will check with the dealer and get a size on the aux tank. I will then post the information.
  4. desertdeals69, I have been told I do have an auxiliary air tank for the brake system. The last time the coach leaned there was a leak in one of the connections for the brake system. I do not know if the leak was in the aux tank fitting or the line for the air brake cylinder valving etc. I will try to find out exactly where the leak was back in May and let you all know. In the meantime I did send my service advisor an email asking to check the ride height valves. I appreciate all the help here to get this problem solved.
  5. Thanks Brett. I will take your post to the dealer to see what they find. Have a great day!!
  6. To a new driver not familiar with "truck" style hydraulic steering there is a big difference in steering a coach vs a car. The nature of the hydraulic steering motor/valve requires many small input adjustments. After several hours behind the wheel you will get a better feel for the input required and less action on your part. None of my comments should supersede the advice given above. Make sure your coach is aligned etc per Brett Wolfe's post above.
  7. We own a 2008 H/R Ambassador with a Blue Ox tow system using Air Force One aux brake system. Before we took delivery last May I noticed the coach tilted on the curb side several degrees. After much inspection by Lazy Days they finally found a leak in the Air Force One hook-up to the aux air tank. We went until last December and then the coach tilted again on the curb side. So far Lazy Days cannot find any leaks, but the coach tilted. Any ideas or helpful information would be much appreciated.
  8. Another option is to go to an audio/home tv store and purchase an HDMO/ethernet kit. HDMI cables are very expensive and you can avoid the cost with the HDMI/ethernet cable adapters. The adapters are about 6" long on each end of the system. You can run ethernet cable between the adapters. This will save a pile of dollars depending on your run.

  10. Bill, Actually the area is not too bad and they have 24 hour security. There are two other RV dealers within a block of Lazy Days (La Mesa and Freedom). We have used the park during warranty repairs for the two rigs we purchased from Lazy Days. Now that they have sold to KOA I wonder how warranty's will be addressed for those that need to stay while repair/parts are scheduled. We so have a couple free nights and will use these up before the March 31st deadline. Good travels and have a Happy New Year.
  11. KOA only purchased the camp ground not the service center. I do not know what is going on with Lazy Days. They do have a new CEO and he is trying to bring his influence to the table. They have lost a few good people recently which is not a good thing for any business. We purchased our motorhome from Lazy Days last May and they have been great for warranty repairs. I hope the loss of personnel and the sale of the campground is not the tip of the iceberg.....
  12. I have a 2013 Honda CRV. The manual states the pre-tow procedures need to be performed. It does stat that if towing more than 8 hours in a day to remove the 7.5 amp accessory radio fuse from the interior fuse box. It also has a diagram of the fuse box and indicates where this fuse is located in the box. You also need to perform the pre-tow procedure each day if towing the vehicle. All these instructions are shown on pages 235 and 236 in the owner's manual. Hope this helps all that have a 2013 CRV.
  13. Got to agree with mrboyer. The best smart phone is the one that is the easiest for you to use. It also depends on your carrier. For my money Verizon Wireless is the best overall. If undecided then look for the industry leaders, Apple and Samsung. Happy New Year to all!!
  14. I have to agree with srballard. If you can earn 8% or more on your money and can borrow at 3.75% it is a no brainer. Motorhomes depreciate so put your hard earned dollars to work for you not against you. BTW I am not a financial analyst but have a darn good one!!
  15. Thanks Ray and others for the replies. All good information!! Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
  16. Recently spent several nights in St George UT and one night the temp was zero degrees F. I had the basement heater turned on but the active light only came on a few times. I did not have any internal lines freeze but wondered why the active light was no on constantly.....any ideas?
  17. I met the KOA folks transitioning the park from Lazy Days. They were very professional and seemed to want our business. Yes I believe the rates will eventually go up but you do get what you pay for in some parks.
  18. I have a 2008 H/R Ambassador. When I activate the air dump switch it takes forever to dump air. Is this normal or do I have a defect somewhere?
  19. We got dumped on in St George, UT last week with 8" of snow. The slide covers drooped but recovered when I removed the snow. However ice formed from snow melting on the roof . I had to remove the ice before we could bump in. Time will tell if the slide cover springs were affected or not. Good to be back home in Tucson, AZ
  20. Just took my 2008 H/R Ambassador to Lazy Days in Tucson for some maintenance and found out that KOA has purchased the Lazy Days campground in Tucson. They will honor any "free night" certificates until April 1st 2014. This could be extended but my advice is if you have them use them before April 1st.
  21. I took a copy of my DD214 to the local Verizon office and am receiving a 15% discount from their base charge. The discount does not apply to texting or data service, but 15% of something is better than nothing!!
  22. I have an Android phone (Samsung) and a windows operated laptop. I have used a program called PdaNet. You download the program to your phone from Google play and also to your computer. The computer version is from www.junefabrics.com This makes your phone a tethered hot spot and uses the data your are already paying for with your smart phone. Unless you are a power user the 2gb of data from Verizon will suffice for emails and minor surfing. After a trial period you will get an email from June Fabrics asking for $18.00 for the program to continue. This is the only charge you will get. Worth a try and it does save money!!
  23. I located the access panel in the closet for the washer/dryer connections. I found a cap plug loosely installed which probably caused the odor. I added several cups of pink antifreeze and then installed a rubber expansion plug in the drain. The weather has been much cooler but I have not noticed any odor from the closet. Thanks to all who added to my original post. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
  24. Jack, I will try to locate the area where the W/D drain would be in the unit. I think your assessment is right on!
  25. I have a 2008 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 40SKQ. We just returned from a five day camping trip. On the second day I noticed a foul smell coming from the closet in the bathroom, especially in the upper portion of the closet. There is an option for a washer dryer to be put in this closet. There is a false wall hiding the water and waste connections for this option. Days three four and five the smell got much worse. I did dump the grey tank and drove 150 miles home. The smell was still there but much fainter. Any suggestions on a fix? Jack Landon F435890 Oro Valley, AZ
