I met Bob Tiffin in one of his coaches at the Good Sam Rally in Phoenix last month. He created everyone that came into his coach and is really appreciative of his customers. My next coach will probably be a Tiffin!!

Brett, Are you saying one could have lead acid 12-volt starting batteries, and AGM 6-volt house batteries or visa versa in the same coach? My 12-volt starting batteries are fairly new, but the house batteries may need replacing in a year or so.

Ray, I waited until dusk and pulled my light switch out one click. The DW pressed the ICC switch and the clearance lights flashed. My coach works the same as yours. Thank you all for the replies. This should close out this post.

Your MPG will depend on several factors; wind, speed of vehicle, weight of vehicle, terrain, and toad or no toad. I average 9.5 in my motorhome traveling 58 MPH. I have a H/R 40 foot with a Cummins ISB 360 HP diesel. The faster you go the less MPG.

I now use AAA for everything, cars, motorhome, and sticks & bricks home. So far I am completely satisfied with them. I have $1000 deductible for comprehensive. If the windshield on the motorhome requires replacing the most I am out is the $1000.

I use Blue OC for towing and Air Force One for braking. No problems with either one.

Gary, You are correct I do not have a smart wheel. I am camping later this month and will have to try the ICC switch at dusk to see exactly which lights are activated by the switch. Thank you all for your replies.

Bill, You have been away from the forum for a while. Welcome back. You always have good information in your posts and have helped a lot of RV'ers.

Idval, I have a 2008 H/R Ambassador and had a door problem. The door is designed to "float" due to highway travel and vibration. I found when I tried to enter the coach it was getting harder and harder to unlatch the door. I sprayed some silicone spray on the moving parts, closed the door, and could not open it again. We were lucky my wife was inside and could open the door for me. We still had two more days of camping so I removed the two bolts that latch the door and used the dead bolt to hold the door closed. Drove to Lazy Days in Tucson and had the door mechanism replaced. If this is your problem you may be able to do some adjustments but eventually the latch mechanism will need replacing. Good luck and let us know how you solve your problem.

Ray, Essentially our coaches are the same so mine should work the way yours does. I will try it later this week. Seems to me that the ICC switch should flash turn signal lights to say thanks or indicate it is safe to pull in when another vehicle passes. Who looks at the clearance lights? Thanks for the reply.

I have a question regarding the ICC switch in my coach. It is spring loaded to the off position. I engaged the switch but my spotter doesn't see any change in the lights. I thought they are courtesy lights to signal another driver when it is safe to pull in or to say thank you when pulling in front of another vehicle. My owners manual does not say anything about the operation of the switch. Any info would be most appreciated.

If I were to name our 2008 H/R 40SKQ it might be "Money Pit". We do like the coach but it has had it's share of problems, some coach inherent and some operator error. Looked at other coaches but each time we come back to our coach it feels like home. I guess one day we will have everything fixed and just have normal maintenance.

Ray, Good job avoiding an accident. Your video is proof that one must be constantly aware of what the traffic is doing around us. I know that trucks can be bullies and no one wants to "connect with one on the road. I see a video camera in my future!!

Thanks for the reply's. Looks like a pure sine wave inverter is in my future when I have to change out my Norcold 1210 with a residential fridge!!

First time "dry Camping" at the Good Sam Rally in Phoenix. Had coach on inverter power and plugged in my electric clock at 12:30 PM. Checked it at 1:30 PM and clock was reading 2:35 PM. Called Magnum and had a great discussion with a tech named Glen. Found out that there was nothing wrong with my inverter. The clock does not like modified sine wave. The microwave will also run slower but will not be damaged. It does make a different sound on inverter. TV is not hampered at all by modified sine wave. Just posting this so other readers will understand and not go through what I did.

Rich, Thanks for the information. I do not believe that the electric motors used for hydraulic leveling are NEMA design so this legislation should not affect use. Agree or disagree?

Welcome to the forum!! I have found a lot of useful information here and have had several answers to my questions. Sat travels and have you thought about towing a trailer with the motorcycles on it? Best of both worlds!!

Spring and early summer can exhibit bad weather in the midwest and plains states. Rain, high winds, tornados etc. I would take the souther route and then up the east coast to Maine. Your return trip could take the northern route, just leave extra time to stay in the RV park if high winds or bad weather is predicted on your route. I would also stay away from Dakota Ridge RV Park in Golden, CO. My rig got an electrical surge there and it caused a lot of damage. I now have a surge/low voltage protector hard wired in my rig.

Herman, You are correct about pumping uphill. I have never had to do that and hope I never will. I will look into the gray tank flush at CW. Would be a good thing to have!!

I also have a Sani-Con and stopped using it. I found that the flow is not great enough to move all contaminants from the black and gray tanks. The 3" hose flushes fast and moves most of the debris from the tanks. The black tank flush does the rest. I only wish H/R Monaco designed a gray tank flush into the unit as well. I guess the only time the Sani-Con would be handy is pumping uphill.

I paid $2.599 for diesel at Fry's Food in Marana, AZ. That is the lowest I have paid for diesel since I started RVing in 2010.

I use my iPhone 6 as a hot spot to connect my computer to the internet. Most of my usage is email stocks etc. I have 8gb available but usually only use 1.5gb. Hope this helps.

Gord & Linda, I have to agree with Herman. Several coaches are currently manufactured but by a new owner. Examples are Fleetwood and Monaco/Holiday Rambler Coach. Find the floor plan that suites you best. Be prepared to put more money into "making things the way you want them", as well as regular maintenance and repairs. If the floor plan is right for you the rest is just money and fun.
