RV Dealers: Are They All Like This?
jleamont replied to mwilson8@rochester.rr.com's topic in General Discussion
Puff, snowing, not sticking to the roads or pavement but my lawn has 1" on it. We were considering running for Hilton Head last night. Work on Monday changed that. its supposed to warm up into the 40's tomorrow. -
I also got mine from Carid. I bought the ones with the blacked out background and led Halos under them. the Dynasty looks like a BMW light module. I would remove them and Google the part number with bmw in front of it.

Kay, I couldn't agree with you more. Still waiting for pictures...... -
Hey Doug! I heard it when we were camping. It's a howling type of sound when the city water is coming into the hose reel. To supply the coach while someone is inside with a faucet open. It's quite loud at the hose reel wet Bay Area. I was thinking a restriction in the reel, kinked hose? Pump is off and water is not headed into the tank. Anyone else have a hose reel for your hose?

I believe he was trying a separate inverter dedicated to the refrigerator. While is factory installed 2000 watt MSW ran the rest of the coach. The question seems to be why wouldn't a 1000 watt run it? Or better yet why will the stock MSW not work. Shannon, what did the MSW unit do to the refrigerator when plugged into it? Compressor get loud when it turned on?

Haha, I would if I was in Ohio!

Wheel Chocks - Needed And If Yes, Most Preferred
jleamont replied to garyejones's topic in Type A motorhomes
I have a set of heavy rubber ones I use. Our last coach only had a driveshaft parking Brake. That worried me if a U-joint failed it was gone. I always chocked that one and this one. Funny a Camping trailer has NO brakes when not connected to a tow vehicle!!!!!! Don't park down hill from one. Or really trust thy neighbor. Call me paranoid I always look around before I set up, I have no problem asking for a different spot if something doesn't look right. Rich good post on a proper air brake pre-trip just to add to it, chock you wheels at full air pressure (engine off) release the parking brake and watch your air pressure gauge, if it drops more than 3 psi in one minute you have a an air leak that needs to be addressed. Do the same with your foot on the brake pedal 2 psi in one minute it needs to be fixed ASAP. I do this prior to each trip, CDL habits. -
My TRC has a delay before sending power to the coach also. I use my power pal first then plug the TRC in and connect to the coach. When done I alway flip the breakers off after I go through the interior and shut the AC off. ObedB next time we meet up remind me to tell you the story of a CG I left in GA. Through the bushes cross the creek to the highway in our C. To get out when I got spooked

Not sure why but mine has been working pretty flawless today. I tuned my notifications after Todd fixed them so I could and it's been good on my I phone I pad and Microsoft PC. i am actually impressed how fast the bug fixes have been. happy camper here

Todd, so far I'm impressed, I pay a small fee per year for my membership, in a few days most of the new system glitches have been corrected. We spent 1.5 million a year and a go at work on fleet management software, they still haven't figured it out.

RV Dealers: Are They All Like This?

Poor guy is from PA. If he's near ObedB and myself the dealer support around these parts are slim pickings. You fellas from Texas have it made. And your not getting ready for snow tonight. CW is buying up the mom and pop dealers around here and turning them into a Safe haven for ex cons. -
Puff, you did the same thing I did . My email is correct now, and all looks good. Todd, thank you!

RV Dealers: Are They All Like This?
jleamont replied to mwilson8@rochester.rr.com's topic in General Discussion
I am convinced if someone opened an RV dealer in a prime location and just treated people the way they would want to be treated they would dominate the area. Lets also not forget to properly train your staff to respond to their customers needs. Put me in charge of such a place I would clean house and staff it accordingly with the right people for the job. This is a sore spot for me coming from the automotive business, where I treated people like royalty and they spent a whole lot less on each vehicle. Customer service goes a long way with most people. You have to earn a customers trust. -
RV Dealers: Are They All Like This?

YUP, that's the way most operate. Besides that I have found the shop, parts and sales staff have no idea what they are doing in most instances. Which is pretty darn scary. Our first coach bought from a RV dealer in the Pocono's nice people, the owner insisted I could not leave with it until we went through the entire unit and I understood how it worked. They called us often after to check up on how we liked it and where we have taken it. Great people! Our second coach we bought from a car/RV dealer in Strasburg PA, got the same great sales experience. They told me up front they get by with some areas of service on RV's but they were not experts in their service department, I was happy they were honest up front. All of my bad experiences did not come from the places we purchased the coaches from, but from RV dealers that are local to where we reside. FYI, none were CW stores, they are worse! We have a dealer not too far that will sell you a new Holiday Rambler, Thor or Damon DP but they will not work on anything chassis related, including oil changes. -
thetabe49, you just described the same problem I had in 2014. What I thought was algae (thanks to Brett) actually turned out to be deteriorated fuel line between the tank and the fuel water separator. When I looked at what was in my filter it had shards of rubber and black slime. At first it looked like algae, upon further inspection (cutting the filter open) is where I found the fragments of fuel line. I also had a raw fuel smell in the basement area, that's not to say you would experience the same depending on how the coach was built. If your primary filter is not full when you remove it, you could have the same problem I did. If it is full I would lean toward the algae problem. I sincerely hope you just have an algae problem. I saw this product at my local NAPA to remove water but it also helps remove algae from a fuel tank. link to NAPA http://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/FIL4582 Here is the link to my fuel line mess.

Just under the drivers door, they do not get much air if any. They are accessed by removing a panel with the drivers door open.

ObedB my front one works key off, the back one doesn't matter what position the keys in. I would call Tiffin, see if they have any idea what's going on. If they are of no real help for a solution and since they always work, I'm not sure I would be to concerned. When we bought this coach the first thing I taught myself was how to pull them in manually. I even keep the proper speed wrench handy.

Brett, this post and the few others made me place a call to find out what the problems we had (called my old employer), during the call the light bulb went on in my head. brought back the memories. Two issues listed below 1, We were running the Optima battery, No issues with a day cab tractor, when you put them into a sleeper tractor (batteries have no air flow around them unlike like a day cab) they would over heat. Burnt two tractors to the ground, cause of fire was ruled overheated batteries, it happened while driving in both instances, which might go back to the post above with the alternators. In this case both were equipped with Delco 40SI, which does have remote sense to monitor the batteries state of charge, so you would think it would adjust the current on a fully charged battery. After further inspection most of the sleeper fleet had signs of over heated batteries, (melted housings, disfigured wire loom in the area of the batteries etc.) They switched them all out with wet cell's on sleepers only, no more issues. No signs of over heating on the day cabs, also equipped with the same alternator and battery configuration. Both units came with the Delco/Optima equipment from their manufactures, they were not added after. 2, The AGM battery paired up with a starter motor equipped with an over crank protection system, when the AGM drops below 12.0V the starter will not engage. I can think of a few things that could have caused the #1 concern above, but since I mentioned some concerns on a different post I wanted to dig into it to refresh my memory and share it.

Mine works the same way as yours. Not sure what ObedB has got going on with that Tiffin . As soon as my key goes on it switches back to travel height also.
