Maybe I-10 to Baton Rouge, I-12 to bypass the big easy, rejoin I-10, I-59 north through MS, Al, Ga, ends at I-24, then join I-75 just from Chattanooga to Knoxville, then run with I-40 east from K-town to the start of northbound I-81, north to Scranton and take I-84 to Hartford, then north to Springfield on I-91. Have run them all many times. That way you can stay off the mess also known as I-95, Believe or not I have hauled live oysters caught in Galveston Bay. Never tasted them but they loved them up north. What they didn't know.?

The nations roads are in large part a mess. Traffic has increased beyond what anyone could imagine and the funding for repairs has not kept pace. Politicians are too busy spending money on people that will re-elect them and not the roads. Frost heave caused mostly by salt melting snow into water and then refreezing (expanding and pushing up against the road surface) is a northern thing mostly. Guess you Texans don't have that problem, but up here we have two seasons winter and road repairs.? I don't like it but I am powerless to do anything about it. We live with it because it is all that we can do except moving to Texas. Got room down there? Oh shoot! My wife hates tornados and hailstorms. I would still go through Ohio to get to Lexington KY instead of the Hill Billy (trucker talk).

I still use a road atlas fo calculate mileage. Always have and always will. I was about to post my reasons for the Ohio route, and one is that at end of your day a level campground is a lot easier to find in Ohio. You already figured that out, and you are so right. Not knowing where you are, I used Patterson as a departure point. My calculations show the mileage each way a statistical wash. 748 through Ohio using I-80 to Ohio and 740 heading through the Virginias. Long day without a stopover. Lexington/ Horse Country. Going shopping? Regardless/ safe travels.

From your location, your first choice is best: west on I-80 into Ohio then join I-76 taking that through Akron to I-71 south. In Cincinnati I-71 joins I-75. They run together until south of Cincinnati. I-75 then heads almost straight south to Lexington. Spoken by a retired trucker. If you want to go sight seeing follow the other suggested routes. Now that I am retired, I might consider another way, but West Virginia is really not a lot of fun. Level overnight sights are difficult to find unless someone can give you reliable advice. OK guys. Beat me up.

The progressive unit has a time delay. If there is a problem, it will not power the coach, at least that is the way that I understand it. We don't usually stay at questionable parks. We have run the same route to get to Colorado over the years many times so we know where to stay. If it looks dumpy, keep going if you can.?

Guess I am a good Boy Scout. Always turn the breaker off when unhooking. Always make sure that the park breaker is off before hooking my portable Progressive Industries unit up, attach the RV cord to it and then power up. Got a Merit badge for doing so.

Tiffin is no help on a coach built in 2003. As long as our slides work with the key on I don't care. There seem to be few if any standards in the industry. Would that work in the real world of things electric, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry etc. Shame on the industry. If there were standards it would be much easier to find a qualified TECH when you have a problem. I hoped that when we bought a diesel coach 15 years newer than our gasser it would be better than it is. Still beats the heck out of a 1988 Ford 460 powered carbureted RV but it should be better.

How can anyone explain our slides working with the key off for the first year and then failing last September to operate in Limon CO although they worked on the trip out ? That is why I mention a possible solution that finally worked for me. A Tiffin website lead me to try that after I had replaced the relay and the slides still didn't work. I doubt that Rich, the wizard of smart for things electrical could explain that. Bill's idea about the coach batteries being in a low state of charge is a good one for the OP .

Try turning the ignition switch on. Could help. Our Phaeton slide outs would go out without turning the ignition on the first year we owned it and then for some reason I had to start turning the key on. Oh well! At least they work.

Bill/ 2012 Forester towable with 5 speed. Have it rigged up with Blue Ox base plate, diodes, and light wiring. Knew that it was towable when we bought it from Faulkner Subaru Harrisburg Pa. Considered a Jeep but they were just too expensive even used and my wife would have never driven one. Tried to get her to drive my F-150 Super Cab. Fo getta bout it. Remco is a good site for anyone that is in doubt.

Herman/ have observed the mansion north of I-30 many times.

You also get discount points every time you register at a KOA and then you can use them for an additional discount on site charges. Forgot about that/ thanks Joe for jogging my memory. Never stayed at a Jelly Stone. No kids.
-
Find a KOA that you want to use and register when signing in. You will be in their data base on a system that all KOAs use and get the discount right then. You can then call a park, give them your membership #, and they know who you are. I sometimes make reservations riding down the road. If you are going to be late getting there, they will want a credit card number to hold the spot for you. Some folks make fun of KOA, but we have good luck with them for the most part.

OK Good! Especially if it makes my iPad more useable on the site. Thank you.

I checked my profile page, and I no longer see the PM (mail service) . Is it no longer available? If it is, I was going to delete some content on it yesterday just about the time the system was shutdown. My email address is current, but others are not. Was nice to be able to send a member a private message.

We have towed our 2012 Forester over 9000 miles. Tires are wearing perfectly, no funny noises occurring, and I use it as my driver around home. The car performed very well on our snowy or icy roads this winter and scooted up our snow covered 16% grade driveway with no problem. Maybe corporate lawyers are considering liability issues? I intend to keep towing ours.

Thanks all. Kay try their site (washwax.com). If it works well on Wayne's toad, I am going to give it a try. Supposed to take bugs off the front with no water. Maybe I will just try one bottle on the bugs. If it works then I will buy more and the mop as well, unless I get a negative response from Wayne or somebody else. Motorhome Magazine gave it good numbers. Joe/ mine isn't as shiny as yours. I guess that it is gelcoat, but I am not positive. They show the stuff being used on aircraft. Kinda doubt that they are gel coated. The product has been around for thirty years or so. Maybe it it the one that Kay remembers.

I have observed coach owners using a waterless product with a mop to wipe the outside down. Looking back several years and I have found no mention of such a product. I am specifically interested in Wash Wax All. Indicates no water required and especially good for removing bugs up front. Website seems too good to be true. Anybody out there with comments about the product?
