  1. Thanks for all the info. I have a 2001 tracker 4wd auto trans that we have towed for 9 years just put transfer case in netural. It has 160K miles now and needs work. I have looked for a replacement like the jeep liberty or Honda CRV but prices on used ones are unreal. I have a chance to get a 2003 tracker with only 33K miles but 2wd. At this point I think the best way is put some $ in my 2001. Thanks again for the input it made the decison easier.
  2. Has anyone used a Remco driveshaft disconnect? Are they easy to use, any problems such as vibration etc.? I am looking at installing one on a Chevy Tracker 2wd, rear wheel drive.
  3. For the same reason I don't use facebook. I really don't want a lot of personal info on the internet. Sorry but I guess I'm old fashioned. I am amazed at the info people put on the internet.
  4. The "Tracker" is a Suziki with a Chevy emblem I believe all the Vitria (spelling) are towable 4 down. check the FMCA guide. Good luck,
  5. I have been towing my 2001 Tracker for ten years. No problems with speed. I do stop every couple of hours and run the engine. Tracker now has 150,000 miles and all I have changed is a 02 sensor and thermostat. I do change oil every 4k miles. Biggest complaint is fuel mileage isn't great for a small vehicle.
  6. I am trying to find a 20 amp breaker for Power_Tek panel in my MH. Internet searches have not found anything. If anyone knows where to purchase one it would be a big help. Thanks
  7. Just a FYI If you have a washing machine and it has not been used for an extended period the P trap in its drain may be empty. I bought a used Pace Arrow that had been sitting for almost a year. The first few months the stench drove us crazy, we thought it was from the black tank. I found the info on a old forum. All it took was one cycle of the washer and NO more smell.
  8. Cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil and placed throughout the MH have eliminated my problem. I also use brass steel wool to plug the electric and water openings. I haven't had any mice in 6 years now.
  9. Do you have a washing machine? If so and it has not been used the trap in that drain dries out and you get the smell from the gray tank. My Pace Arrow had that and it stunk and drove me crazy finding it. The fix is run washer through a cycle.
  10. Has anyone had experience with Firestone tires on a class A? Good or bad. Thanks
  11. Wal Mart, Napa, Pep Boys Auto Zone They should be easy to find. A word of caution if you run the 4 wire cord over the top of the toad and hood it may leave marks as the air flow will move it around.
  12. After reading all the posts, I think i will stick with going to the dump station, easier and cheaper.
  13. Use "Engine control module" upgrade
  14. I have a 2003. When you are looking at the one you found under the hood, look to the right and up. It is back against the firewall is easy to miss. This box contains the larger fuses. If it's only the dash lights not working the problem may be the switch.
  15. Mold Armor at Home Depot (spray Bottle) worked great on my 2003 Pace Arrow that had been sitting for 2 years when I bought it.
  16. I had the same problem, I can only get Dish @61.5 which is HD at home. I went to the Winegard mini max I am very happy with it. Simple to install and set up. Winegard gives prompt response to questions.
  17. Plumber's grease is silicone and can be purchased at Lowes or Home Depot.
  18. We have made the trip from Ct to NC many times and used 81 to 78 to 33 to 209 many times and it is a nice ride except for 78 33 & the short ride on 80 to 209 if you hit it at rush hours. Even by car I avoid it at rush hours any other time is ok.
  19. I am very confused and would like to hear from users of the Rogue Wave antenna. I am in Connecticut and spend a lot of time in a state park on the shoreline. There is a Mcdonalds and Dunkin Donuts within two miles that have WiFi. After reading all the blogs in FMCA and Good Sam I decided to purchase the Rogue Wave (I know there are many people saying build your own) I am willing to pay for the plug and play aspect. I called Land Sea in Fl today to order one. They tell me it is doubtful it will pickup any signal. I came away feeling it will only work with line of sight and close. I would like to hear from anyone using one what they can pickup and range. Thanks
  20. I agree I81 to I84 is the best, less traffic and better views a little hilly in upper PA and a long pull on I84 at port Jarvis NY PA line. The only heavy traffic is Danbury CT to Waterbury CT at rush hrs. We go to Charlotte NC several times a year by car and and have tried all the routes. One toll at the Newburg NY bridge.
  21. I just finished Turbo Tax for 2010, under personal property tax you will find the deduction for motor home taxes if you did pay any.
  22. Connecticut towns and cities DO tax all rvs be it a trailer or motorhome. I pay over $1000.00 for my 2003 Pace Arrow and it is a legit deduction.
  23. You say "new" radiator cap. If it was recently replaced is it the right pressure? Coolant comes out the overflow tube when the pressure cap lifts or vents if pressure in the radiator exceeds the rating. A cap for a overflow bottle will be different, they allow coolant to be expelled into the bottle but they also allow it to be sucked back into the radiator when it cools and pressure drops. If it is a replacement cap start there. Checking the dipstick for coolant is in accurate. The only sign may be the oil level high. If you can remove the oil fill cap on the valve cover or tube and look for a white gel-type substance or you may see it at the end of the engine blowby tube or slobber tube as everyone wants to call it. The coolant turns to steam when the engine is working and condenses on the valve cover when it cools. If it is present do not run the engine. Antifreeze will take out bearings very quickly. Another way is the remove the dipstick touch the end with the tip off your finger and then touch the end of your tongue, this sounds gross but you only need to have your finger damp, if antifreeze is present it will have a very sweet taste. I spent 40 years with Cummins and we used this as a quick check.
  24. A word of caution, small gens like my Honda EU2000i are sold as a 1000 or 2000 watt unit this is the surge rating. You can only run for a short time at that load. My Honda 2000 has a rated load of 1600 watts. So if you calculate you need 1000 watts you will need a larger unit. I have a 38ft Pace Arrow with two 6 volt house batts. I use a 110 watt solar panel and the Honda 2000i and we dry camp all summer with no problem. I run the house gen for the convection oven. Good Luck
  25. Google Winegard and send an email to the address for mobile sales/service. I recently contacted them for a problem and received a prompt and helpful response
