  1. I have never had any luck with felt washers even on cars. I use NCP-2 a brush on battery corrosion preventative, it is a red color coating and you get no corrosion. I worked for Cummins CT. for 40 years this is what truck fleets and construction companies use. See http://www.nocousa.com/ . It can be messy when putting it on wear the nitrile gloves and a little goes a long way. Clean terminals good before using.
  2. A Pace Arrow would top my list, I have a 2003 37A I purchased used 5 years ago, it had been neglected, after several months of fixing and elbow grease we have the best RV since starting 40 years ago. I don't know why Fleetwood stopped making them. After having a Coachman class C purchased new, I didn't know if I even wanted to keep RVing. A total piece junk.
  3. How do you get anti freeze into the system? I can remove the suction hose from my freshwater pump and pull antifreeze or bleach/water into the system.
  4. Please keep posting your progress, problems and triumph's. I am going to attempt to do our 2003 Pace Arrow. I don't know if we should attempt it in Connecticut winters.
  5. Is there any info on when FMCA road side assist will be available? My Good Sam roadside service expires in Feb. and I would like to switch. The MH is in storage and won't be used until April. Even a good estimate would be helpful.
  6. I spent 40 years with Cummins CT. It is doubtful you will need a complete overhaul. Yes you may have transfer to other cylinders, damage to the head and turbo. A connecting rod in the failed cylinder maybe. The ISX is one of the most robust engines Cummins ever built. I would not think the crank is damaged. Warranty began the day the first owner took delivery or when he registered it. If it is a day. Over the 5 years it is out of warranty, if it is I would request a Cummins factory rep investigate and commit policy to help with the repair. It won't cover the full cost but should help. Good luck
  7. I did have a small bit of luck when I went to order it from Fleetwood on Allied Rec, web site they offered a higher power unit for $523 plus shipping. It requires a 2x2 inch notch in the body frame which was no big deal. What a difference in the way the slide comes in now. No slow down as it starts to lift as it comes in. I had found a used one also, but with no warranty if it didn't fit or work I didn't want to gamble.
  8. I would suggest contacting Fleetwood and ask for wiring diagram. They have given me info on my Pace Arrow when I needed a wiring diagram.
  9. Thanks for the replies. It was the gearbox. One of the needle bearings failed letting the gear wobble, wore into the housing and damaged teeth on the larger gear. I have been searching the Internet and all the salvage yards. It looks like I am stuck with ordering from Fleetwood @$563.00 plus shipping. Power gear makes it very difficult to find the right one.
  10. Does anyone know if Power gear slide out motors can be rebuilt? I have a 2003 Pace Arrow 37A the living room slide is a flush floor. Coming in has always been slow now it stops just as the floor starts to lift. A slight push outside and it will come in fine. All adjustments are in spec, Batt is good engine running, shore power plugged in, voltage at motor leads is good. Control module and breaker are new. Compartments were emptied no change. Dealer tech says time to replace motor. Also track was cleaned and lubed with dry lube for slides. I would like to try and have it rebuilt at a local auto electric shop vs $600.00 for new assembly. Has anyone heard of rebuilding one?
  11. I don'tknow if they will be the same but my 2003 Fleetwood Pace Arrow has a fuse for the unswitched 12v to radio in the front of the engine compartment. It was a inline blade fuse holder.
  12. We have had dish for years at home I take one receiver in MH. Using Wingard minimax 8000RT. As long as we don't get under trees it's great. All high def. The couple of problems we had Dish customer service was great.
  13. Thanks for the input, the dealer was supposed to flush the system for me when the recall was done I paid for it but who knows. I will do it myself and change the flexible line. The left side and front calipers show no sign of overheating. The ABS system is fine the overheat takes out the sensor.
  14. X2 on the Jack antenna I switched and am happy with the results
  15. I have a 2003 Pace Arrow 37A on a Workhorse W22 chassis 15,000 miles, The calipers were replaced in Nov. 2010 under the recall by a Workhorse dealer. Last year Sept 2013 the right rear overheated and took out the ABS sensor and caliper. The dealer who did the work wouldn't give me any help. I worked for Cummins in CT for 40 years and am familiar with heavy duty brakes, I replaced the caliper with a NAPA new one myself. After installing operation was checked before the wheel was put on with no problems. On Monday July 7 2014 the right rear overheated again. I am looking for answers, has anyone else had this problem? I know AMP has purchased Workhorse from Navistar but I can't find contact info, I looking for answers, I don't want to get into a guessing game. I canceled a upcoming trip until I can be sure I have corrected it. The Workhorse dealer won't give any advice just "Bring it in and we will look at it." Napa says the caliper I bought meets the Workhorse recall specs. Thanks
  16. Herman, I do it for peace of mind and if there is a pocket of water some where. It only takes a couple of gallons cheap insurance and keeps seals and washers from drying out. As I said it may be overkill but I sleep good at night all winter.
  17. Sanitize with bleach including hot water heater. I blow out the water lines and then put in antifreeze every year, I have been doing it for 30+ years and I use Walmart antifreeze never had any problems. It may be overkill, but I sleep good when temps go below zero.
  18. Auto parts stores sell pliers made to pinch the hoses, inxpensive and quick. Sizes for everthing from radiator hose to fuel lines.
  19. I use Dish at home and take a receiver in the MH when we go. I have had problems popup at home and in the MH. Customer service in both cases has been excellent! Both the reps on the phone and the tech who came to the house were very pleasant and helpful.
  20. It is behind the left front wheel on my 2003 Pace Arrow. Mine are Power Gear. Try turning the left front wheel all the way to the right. It is rear of the wheel a round cannister with two bands around and you will see the hose. The engineers who design should be required to do maintenance on them. Good Luck
  21. I had a Class C purchased new, I hated it. Nothing but problems from leaks to mechanical. It was a 31 ft. I now have a 37ft class A and love it. I would like to put in a BIG caution-- request a long test drive and ON interstate to see how it handles and if they are comfortable with it. An around the block drive which most dealers give is a lot different than highway with trucks passing and higher speeds. My A had tail wag which I solved with a homemade track bar and stiffer sway bar. The C didn't have that. I do find my A is easier for DIY repairs than the C. Good Luck
  22. Google "Denso" they made wipers for many of the mfgs. They may be able to help.
  23. That is common. I spent 40 years with Cummins in CT and I think they are like idiot lights for oil and water NG. The only accurate way to measure air cleaner restriction is with a manometer or magnetic gauge .
  24. A quick google of state laws for towing a car behind a motorhome will show you most states require a braking system. As Hermanmullins says you may not be covered in a accident without one. I won't tow without the system hooked up. If you don't have a breakaway hooked up and you loose the toad you will be liable.
  25. I don't have a diesel with air brakes, The park brake is on the driveshaft and I don't trust them. Even park on the trans.is not fail proof. I don't use them when we are parked level and jacks down but I do if on an incline or underneath doing services. I spent 40 years working on and around trucks and heavy equipment. It is a false sense of security if you think it is impossible to happen. The DOT requires wheel chocks in commerical vehicles and most companies require drivers to chock wheels air brakes or no. I fit mine on either side of jenny.
