Looks like we will be bypassing Houston

Harvey was a Rabbit when I was in High School

Everytime I hear the name Harvey, I think of Ralph Kramden in the pool hall, haha. -
Glad the RGV wasn't hit. We were mainly going to Houston to visit friends and then on to Lubbock. Looks like we will be bypassing Houston and going right to Lubbock from Tulsa. I'm sure we will get to RGV at some point but this winter will be down thru NM, AZ then NV.

I agree. We were going to be in Houston around the first of November but we might take a pass this year and give it more time.

We stayed at Nevada Treasure RV Park in Pahrump. Really liked it but it is an hour west of Vegas.
-
Saw a couple youtoobers that stayed there and gave it good marks. Was thinking about joining mainly for the free night and farm fresh goods. I'm sure Sweetie Pie will like the winery's too.

We stayed at this very same CG on our way north to ID from NV. I did have problems with the cable and was told the entire campground was due to be "rewired", including the electric. In fact when we were there, they (not CG staff) were walking around testing all the pedastals. I'm guessing it was to give the CG a quote on the cost. I never had a problem with the electric but yes, I always plug my protector in first and if all the lights are good, I then plug the coach into that. We were there in early March on A-3. They were taking out a few big old dead trees too. It snowed on us there but it wasn't bad. My biggest complaint is the dip between the park and the road. Very bad and while there we watched coach after coach drag butt on the way out. Most were going left towards I-15 and that seemed to be the worst way to exit. So, we exited up by the laundromat and went right instead and at an angle. Had a pretty good side to side wobble but didn't drag anything. Looks like whoever they had "rewire" it, didn't do a very good job. Good luck.

We winter in Pahrump, NV. Nevada Treasure RV Park is very nice and they do have a storage area on site. Only an hour west of Vegas. Maybe we'll see you there. Safe journey.

I just saw a thread where the Texas CG owners assoc is opening up the parks to evacuees. Could cause it to be a little crowded down there. Folks headed that way might want to lock in their reservations. What say you Sir?

Very cool. During basic at Dix, a few of us went to Lakehurst for some kind of detail that I'm sure I didn't volunteer for. Got to see the Hindenburg monument and the other zeppelin hangers. I forget what we did there but we had lunch inside those hangers. They were huge.

I prefer MasterCard, hehe -
Very cool. I'm assuming you got one on the big buggy too?

Kind of late getting in here but better late than never. 1) Jim Wicker 2) Army 3) 4 years DEC77 - DEC81 4) Went in as an E-nothing, 20 months later made Corporal and got out as an E-5 squad leader 5) 11B1P Airborne grunt and got the bad back that goes with it. 6) Basic at Dix, AIT at Benning and jump school also. Went to Bragg with the 82nd ABN during the Zaire call out and was there during the hostage situation wondering why we were just sitting there. In spring of '80 got levied for Korea and volunteered for JSA up on the "Zee. After the tree cutting incident, they started pulling guys out of the eighty duece and slapped MP arm bands on us. People don't realize that in '53 a peace treaty was never signed. They only did a cease fire and I'm here to tell ya, that ain't workin' either. We were shooting at them and they were shooting at us but we're not supposed to talk about that. Spring of '81 went back to Bragg and after a bad night jump, screwed my back up. I went in for the full 20 years but after being jerked around because of my injury, I told 'em to shove it and went back to work at US Steel, bad back and all. My thanks goes to all who stepped up to the plate.

We were always told, unless you're walking point, you're rear echelon, haha. Stay sharp.

Bite your tongue, I ain't Navy, haha.

I hope your powder is still dry after your visit from Harvey.

I thought everybody knew about Front site. https://www.frontsight.com/
-
Another reason we like Pahrump is because that is the location for Frontsite. Free tours and great training for Sweetie Pie and myself.
-
I will do that for ya in your email
-
That will def be a problem then. I was told they all have different policies on weapons. Some are ok, some want to know about them and some want you to store them in their armory till you leave.

Why One Place For A Whole Season?
punxsyjumper replied to wildebill308's question in Destinations/Attractions
On a side note, on our first time out as snowbirds, we did run into a lot of crappy campgrounds. I blame it mainly on our inexperience and lack of knowledge. We weren't FMCA members then either. Didn't get my F# till Chandler this year. Anyway, when we finally did find Nevada Treasure in Pahrump, it was like a breath of fresh air. We would have been there longer than the 2 months if it hadn't of been for the permanents next to us and their yapping mutts. It really is a good RV park with many things going for it and we never got bored at all. We will def be back there this winter because we liked it so much. That being said, we are definitely going to be considering moving around more often and seeing more things. Thanks again Folks. -

Guilty as charged. Some very good points here and I guess we never thought about it. Still new to the whole thing and always learning as we go. That's why I come in here, to learn from you Folks. Took our first snowbird trip last fall and wound up in Pahrump NV. Stayed there for only 2 months though. Liked it so much, we came back to PA, tied up a few loose ends and getting ready to head back west next month. Going full time. We are planning to go back to Pahrump for the season. Even though we are going to be there for 5 or 6 months, I plan on hoisting anchor once a month for a weekend trip mainly to get the coaches juices flowing. Now you guys have me thinking about moving around more. Like I said, still grasping the idea of all the bennies of full time RV'ing. We were just so happy to be away from western PA in the winter time, haha. Thanks. I owe you all a beer. Stay sharp. -
Thanks Bill, yeh we looked around. Considered a lot of options and SD works for us. 100% DAV so the wife and I both have military ID and can use the VA system. Mostly as just an emergency plan as we work on staying healthy and not needing it. Can get on any post for all the perks as well as fam-camps. Hope to see you out west sometime.

Looks like we will be in AZ around middle of Nov. Have an invite for Thanksgiving in Yuma. Scheduled to be in NV on Dec 1st and will be there for 5 or 6 months.

Great idea, thanks
