manholt Report post Posted March 26, 2019 We just got our tour info from Fantasy. Staging is at KOA, Montreal (some Island), 19 June..suggested we get there a couple of days early. They recommend the route out of Albany, NY. That's the way, we will go...after a small (per Linda) detour to Joe! Yes dear!
dbenoit Report post Posted April 4, 2019 So I see that the electrical is the same here as there. That is good.

dbenoit Report post Posted July 15, 2019 Do you think I can bring frozen bait (squid, mackerel)? It sounds like I can but the description doesn't seem that accurate as it pertains to bait. Already planning to do some clamming as well. Thanks.
wildebill308 Report post Posted July 15, 2019 You know they have bait shops there right? It might be easier to just wait and buy some bait after you cross. Bill
manholt Report post Posted July 15, 2019 DB. As Bill said, bait shops are everywhere! RV Parks are nice, big & comfortable in NS...not in NL. PEI is Fantastic!!!
dbenoit Report post Posted July 29, 2019 Quick question: Is the alcohol limit into canada per person or per vehicle?
ianbullock Report post Posted July 29, 2019 Per person. You can bring up to 1.5 litres of wine or 1.14 litres of alcoholic spirits or up to 8.5 litres of beer (about 24 cans) each.
dbenoit Report post Posted July 30, 2019 I despise the "or" word, too bad it isn't the "and" word. At least we can double up on the alcohol.
manholt Report post Posted July 30, 2019 DB. We have found that the wine & beer here, is superior to what I get at home...price is about the same. I can't figure why Ian carries Bud Light. Craft beer is everywhere! Other than Bourbon, the rest is imported to USA via Canada...why bring it back to CA?

If Tequila is your drink, I would bring a 40 ouncer each (1.14 litres of alcoholic spirit) to get you thru. Spirits tend to be much higher in price than in the US. dbenoit Report post Posted July 31, 2019 Is it best to exchange US dollars for Canadian? I read that you could get hammered on the exchange rate at stores up there.
hermanmullins Report post Posted July 31, 2019 My brother that traveled to Europe many times said that he use ATM machines. He said that got the best and most accurate exchange rate. Herman
ianbullock Report post Posted July 31, 2019 I would definitely exchange at a bank or ATM, would not advise using US currency at stores. You could use your CC's though and the CC company will give you a fair exchange, plus their fee which is generally another 2-3%
dbenoit Report post Posted August 1, 2019 I will exchange at a bank prior. I won't give my CC even .01% I have a few weeks but already excited and prepping the MH.

dbenoit Report post Posted August 12, 2019 Anyone traveled Route 9 from Bangor, ME to the border at Calais, ME? I would like to know how the road is. It looks like a decent route to take.
wildebill308 Report post Posted August 13, 2019 It has been a couple of years but it is not a bad road. It can save some time getting to Bangor Lookes a lot like US-1. Just a heads up US-1 is ok in the coach US-1A only in the toad. Bill
manholt Report post Posted August 13, 2019 Having logged over 4,000 miles in Eastern Canada, 85% at 40 to 55 mph, I can say that any road in the US is smooth compared to here! You also become an expert in 30 amp coach management. We had C$800 and now less than C$150, every where takes Visa CC, have not been asked for a PIN # yet. Rate has been 24 to 30%, currently 30%, so spending C$100 = US$70. For me, box wine, is cheaper here and better than home, Beer is more expensive and Spirit is more (according to friends)! Average cost to eat out, C$70. We have consumed a lot of seafood chowder, lobster, mussel, cod fish and scallops! Today we will walk on the floor of the ocean, at Bay of Fundy, NB...did the same in NS! 40' to 54' tide's!
dbenoit Report post Posted August 13, 2019 We'll be leaving in about 10 days. Getting everything ready, had to rewire the tow dolly as the mice had a snack over the past winter. I'll be towing the toad on the dolly for the first time. Box wine is on the list, probably bring a bottle of Tequila. We will be traveling pretty light until we cross the border, then stock up.
