tilldee Report post Posted October 5, 2019 This is what I found regarding your question about Roadside Assistance towing services Is the vehicle pulling my 5th-Wheel or Travel Trailer covered? Yes, both vehicles are covered. If the truck pulling your 5th-Wheel breaks down, for example, both the truck and 5th-Wheel will be moved to the nearest qualified repair center (the trailer may be towed to the nearest campground). If a service center is not available, depending on the time of night, SafeRide RV will make every effort to move you to a safe location.
jimbobslick Report post Posted October 7, 2019 I Did a lengthy response, but it did not show up So I signed in and will post again. F346679 DO NOT PURCHASE FMCA EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE. Had a blowout from debris in Georgia and got little to no help from FMCA. Their rep said I will try and find someone to FIX the tire. FIX THE TIRE@!!!!!!!!! the tire was shredded. We had a spare, but they COULD NOT find someone to help us. Finally HWY Patrol in Georgia fixed it for us. Next day, another blow from debris in ALabama. Roads are full of it. Seen lots of blowouts along the way . Our spare was used!!!!! Called FMCA again, worthless. Said they exhausted all efforts to find us help because we didn't have a spare and all they do is change out the tire with a spare. Called 911 as we were in a very busy 70 mph area. They connected us with HWY patrol in ALabama who provided 4 service companies of which one 1. found us a tire and rim 2. came out and did the changeover 3. were courteous and professional 3 B,s Wrecker Service in Boligee Alabama. 4 HOURS STRANDED ON I20. I am now hoping that I can get FMCA to at least cover the cost of the tire changeover. Bought two years service ...... what a waste. BTW they couldnt find a campground for us. Good thing for RVPark Reviews. Just want your money........don't care about YOU
jimbobslick Report post Posted November 12, 2019 I am still trying to get this resolved with SafeRide. THey DO NOT MOVE YOU TO A SAFE LOCATION. Beware, if you go to a location that is not a repair center (ie: a campground), they will not reimburse you for your expenses. In our case, we moved to a safe location (campground) where we could explore service centers for a 4 tire changeover for the specific tires we needed. That took a couple of days to get the tires and do the changeover. They would not reimburse for the camping..... whoopee a whole $36.00. The tire change prior to our move got denied also. They claim they can't read the receipt and are not obligated to call the wrecker service that provided the changeover to the spare tire. Been dealing with this since Oct 6. All kinds of excuses and indications of not receiving our information via email. Faxes are illegible. Again, I say don't DEAL WITH THIS SERVICE.
txtiger Report post Posted November 12, 2019 FMCA does not sell or have a roadside service. They only endorse SafeRide and get a discount for its members. The problems you are having should not happen and it is SafeRide who is dropping the ball. You should contact FMCA Corporate and get them to back you up with your claim against SafeRide. With all the members purchasing SafeRide thru FMCA, FMCA has more pull than you as an individual.
dball Report post Posted November 12, 2019 w5ci3937: To answer your question at the top, as long as the pulling vehicle is not a class 6, 7, or 8 it is also covered. You can view more detail here: www.fmca.com/roadsiderescue jimbobslick: I would be happy to reach out to SafeRide on your behalf to try and come to a resolution. If you'd like to give me a call and explain what happened I can be reach at 800-543-3622. Just ask for Dan Ball and the receptionist will transfer you. This FMCA pdf explains how to call for Saferide ERS help: https://www.fmca.com/pdfs/roadside/roadside_checklist.pdf , however, it is quite confusing to me. Mr. Ball told me on Nov. 4 he was going to call his contact at Saferide and get back to me ASAP. I'll let you know the results after he gets time to answer my concerns about that document. I realize this is not his only focus, he's a busy man.
dball Report post Posted November 16, 2019 Good Morning RayIN, The Roadside Checklist you are referring to is intended to be generic and not reflective of the Roadside Rescue policy. It's why we added the following line to the opening paragraph: The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list, but rather a good starting point to assist and ease the stress if roadside assistance is needed. I've added additional verbiage to further help clarify and hope to have the updated document up on the website very soon. Thanks, Dan
manholt Report post Posted November 16, 2019 That still leaves the question? Is the OP happy, or still hanging? Every service has it's problems. Unfortunately, we only hear from the ones who fell thru the cracks! Thanks for getting back, Dan!
f484798 Report post Posted May 17, 2020 Well this has been interesting to read. I was going to join the Roadside Rescue through FMCA (Safe Ride) but now I'm having second thoughts. Anyone out there have anything positive to say about Safe Ride? bj

jleamont Report post Posted May 17, 2020 To be completely honest, most will not comment how good a service is unless they exceed expectations. All you usually hear are the bad.
f457930 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 I have FMCA roadside assist. Had a flat tire in OK about two years ago. They were very helpful. They had someone call me to discuss the details and the service company did a good job. It took a while for them to get there but I was forty miles from nowhere. The only problem was I got tires that were about a year old. That was my fault for not mentioning that to the service company. I thought they were mind readers. dshipp28 Report post Posted June 3, 2020 I have always had two road service subscriptions. Sometimes I have called both and then cancelled one. Currently I have Both FMCA and Good Sam. One thing I will say is, no matter what company you use, let them make the decision as to where to take your vehicle. Give as much detail as possible about your emergency. In the case of Good Sam, they will stand behind any repair that is done by their recommended service. Once they towed me 100 miles passing all kinds of dealers and other repair places. No matter what service you use, expect to wait. None of them are immediate , unless the driver just happens to be eating lunch at the next exit. At least you are not stuck sitting in a car Although I have not used it, FMCA also has a service to contact nearby members to assist you in an emergency. I do not know how to activaate this, but some how i find it reassuring, This is sort of a third service. What do they consider an emergency??? I am signed up to assist in an emergency but I have recently written to FMCA asking why they don't have me tell them where I am when I am not at my home base. I still might be able to help someone in those locations also. I am lucky enough to still be able to do a lot of my own repairs, myself. so changing a tire is not usually an issue. In fact, I had once had some one ask me why I didn't wait for road service. The key to that question is the word "Wait" Over the years, I have had great success with road service. At best count, in twenty years or more, I have used road service three times, that I remember. Every time I was grateful. Read the find print and ALL of the contract. If nothing else, I like supporting FMCA for the fact that it gives me access to people with the same interest, and I like that big FMCA placard :) but that has nothing to do with road service. Good luck with what ever you decide.
hermanmullins Report post Posted June 3, 2020 Thanks for your comments it is nice to hear positive reports on any service both FMCA and Good Sams. I am sure there are others out there that given the chance are good too. Thanks again, Herman
bootsmalin Report post Posted January 7, 2022 I use Coach NetI I will only sign up with COACH NET Good Sam left me 40' coach + toad on I 10 bridge shoulder for 8 hours, then towed coach to Louisiana Casino. Next day called Good Sam again this was begining of tour of Lafayette and Baton Rouge on back of proper sized tow truck after several fuel filter changes Wife & I went to Motel for showers & sleeping while coach was at Independent shop they identified cause of breakdown could not do Repair but knew how to bypass problem solenoid so I could take rig to Red Bay where diesel shop completed repair. The other road service membership cost less but not worth the inconvenience.
Sojourner2 Report post Posted February 1, 2022 I've heard Coachnet is great service I do have good Sam and although they always come through in the end, they have a lot of misinfo problems and seem to take a long time, about like aaa.
C-677946 Report post Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) Roadside Assistance Companies are only as good as the towing recovery companies they contract with. And some of those towing recovery companies are not that great to begin with!! And many towing recovery companies want nothing to do with roadside assistance companies because they are not the most prompt at paying. At one time one of the national towing associations rated roadside assistance companies and how well they paid, and none of them paid well. One of the best is one which serviced equestrian owners who towed their own horses, US Riders Equestrian Motor Plan. Don't know if they cover the RV industry. I've had both Coach Net and SafeRide. Had several good experiences with Coach Net but they left me hanging the last time I contacted them. It was a lockout on a utility trailer. They maintained that they only cover lockouts on RV, ie: travel trailers or motorhomes. They covered me and my family ion our personal vehicles, so I thought they would cover the utility trailer also - but then I should not think!! Need to read the fine print. I have no experience with SafeRide, and hope I don't. If my travel trailer needs a tow, I may be in trouble, as my 2" ball coupler is 48" off the ground. wildebill308 Report post Posted March 2, 2022 C-677946, I agree most/all the Roadside Assistance Companies are just middle men. You might get a few things like they pay the first trip out by a mecanic or wrecker but are just concierge type company's. Little Valley, NY, Don't see maney from that part of the world. I grew up in Westfield NY. Bill
