I have heard rumors that post WWII the Electric Boat Company experimented with a screen-door design seized from the now defunct Deutches Zinken Und Schwimmen Unterseeboot Fabriken Werks during the war, but it was supposedly a flawed design and the prototype never finished her maiden voyage ...... I dug this up from the history of the CG-11.The divers from the USS Permit swam over to paint the dolphins on our stern, in '73. I was on in '78-'79. Lenp Report post Posted March 27, 2019 Did not serve on any boats but worked on plenty when aboard the USS Fulton (AS11) in New London 1972-76 and MOTU-1 in Pearl Harbor 1976-80. Half the class in "B" school were bubbleheads and we had a load of fun together! Retired in 1983 at ETC. Thanks to all for your sacrifices! Most of my years were fun.
