Please Recommend A Salesman At Lazy Days Tampa

Recommended Posts

We are roughly 9 months out from buying our first RV-to be used for full timing it. We have had a lot of bad experiences with salespeople....everything from high pressure to outright lying. Could someone please recommend a salesman at Lazy Days for us?

Don't have a recommendation, but a word to the wise, they like to start out very high on their pricing...

Why don't you look for a owner sell as opposed to a dealer. There are many very good deals and even better coaches available from owners. Do you home work, take time and ask questions, lots of them and use this forum to find your ideal rig. Good luck

I didn't buy from him, but I really got to like the guy because he didn't pressure me. Overall nice guy, we'd talk from time-to-time, never bugged me on the phone, and would drop me emails every time he thought something fit our search.

Last month we attended the Tampa RV Super show and spent four days camping at Lazy Days. We truly expected to buy from them due to size, volume and all the other hype. We traveled to Ft. Meyers, Orlando, Gainesville and Jacksonville in addition to our time at Seffner. When it was all over we didn't purchase from Lazy Days. Lazy Days inventory is second maybe to MHRVS, however the saturation of dealers in Florida did make for very strong negotiations in our favor.

The internet has empowered you the buyer to "locate" the best pricing on motorcoaches. Use that knowledge to negotiate your best price. Best wishes on your upcoming purchase.

We had a bad delivery experience when we bought our 2014 Winnebago from Lazy Days. I couldn't recommend them for anything. I can recommend General RV. They are about 10 miles east of Lazy Days off I 4. We just traded with them and it was a good experience. One thing you might think about is financing unless you are paying cash. We have excellent credit but financing for full timing became a problem. Seems that very few lenders will finance full timers. If you can arrange financing while you still have a permanent address you can save a lot of hassle and money. ccmsm

There are books and articles, easily findable with a general internet search, that can provide an education as to what goes on in dealing with a salesman and a dealership, how to understand pricing, quality, and the need for doing your own PreDeliveryInspection.

I prefer knowing what is going on so I can control the buying process, rather than looking for that elusive fully trustworthy salesman that really doesn't exist. I do understand you would like to keep your time minimized and to make the process easy, but this is not the situation for it.

MNlDavo.

It would really help to know what type of coach your interested in! Class A, B or C? DP or gas? Length? Cookie cutter or Custom? Used or New?

My recommendation is to go as far away from Lazydays as you can. Run don't walk. We bought a new 2016 coach in January 2016, our 3rd one in 6 years. We were told to pick it up January 30.

Feb 7 we left and drove 30 miles away and parked for night. PROBLEMS started, water leaks amongst other things. Mind you this $500 thousand RV had only been driven from the Indiana factory to Lazydays. Called them, drove back there after much discussion, they told us for another $100,000.00 we could trade it back in for a coach that was $17,000 LESS than ours. Can you say INSULT!!!

Much more talking, but nothing fixed. After another week we have know abandoned our winter Florida vacation only to take this brand new coach back to factory in Indiana so the factory can work on it. (It should never have left the factory in the first place) but at least they say they will make it right. Lazydays will never get another cent from us. In this day of social media, I plan to warn everyone I can about how they abandoned us as soon as we paid. It is unfortunate that I have to do this. It is truly the sales department at LD, not the other employees. I hope things work out for you, but would hate to see another person treated so poorly.

I highly recommend General RV. They will go out of their way to get you as a customer and keep you as a customer. I based this on my experience with their company. I have bought a trailer and three motor homes from them. My two sons also have bought trailers and motor homes from them. All have had great results. There were times when we had an issue but they made sure we were happy with the results. You can have issues with any dealer. The deciding factor is how they react to the issue. General RV will make you happy.

Would you care to share the make and model?

I wanted to thank everyone for their responses. To expand on where we are, and our interests;

We plan to purchase Jan/Feb 2017, and begin to fulltime as soon as we sell the house. Wife and dogs will camp near her parents when I'm OCONUS. We are quite interested in a " gently used" diesel less than three years old, but won't start looking at those until late fall. Our criteria for used would include finding an RV used by non-smokers.

As for now we are spending our weekends shopping and looking at floor plans. We are looking at Class A diesel and gas, as well as Super C diesels.

Needs:

Minimum 38 feet

Good Arctic pack

Very open floor plan (3 dogs)

Lots of storage (an issue in the Dynamax Force I like does not have according to wife)

Ability to safely tow a jeep or larger SUV through the western mountains.

Washer dryer- pstackable

1 1/2 bath

After negotiations, we' d like to be around $ 185k-our research indicates that we should expect a 30-40 % drop below MSRP, so we

plan on $185k + 30-40 % when we are looking.

ETA HH6 Says we have to have bunk beds too.

As we will have to return to FL and TX regularly, I am concerned about gas burners, but wife loves the space of the Georgetown XL.

All thoughts, opinions and guidance are happily accepted.

Motorhome Specialists of Texas, in Alvarado, TX. comes to mind. They have as big if not bigger selection in new and used as Lazydays in FL & Arizona combined!

Five. At $500K it kind off limits the coach to AC, Monaco or Newmar. Surprised if we get an answer!

OK guys here's the deal with loads of Lazydays/ Campingworld type variants.... The used motor homes are usually there on consignment! This means there is absolutely zero motivation to negotiate on price and the sales guy often knows absolutely ZERO about what he is selling.

The "run don't walk" advise is absolutely the best.... Begin to educate yourself about these machines and look for FSBOs (For sale by owner)..when you get a serious candidate, have the machine professionally inspected ... The secret to getting a good deal is NOT being in a hurry....it is possible to buy an absolutely awesome coach for $100K....I guarantee you will get a much better value for your hard earned cash!

Tyler Dalle at Tampa did an excellent job for us. Listened to our likes, made a recommendation and then went out and found the coach, which was like looking for a needle in a haystack for 4 weeks. He followed through and now two years And 16000 miles ter we are still pleased with his recommendation.

Did not know that Tyler was still there. Last I heard is he went to North Trails! Most everyone that I knew between 08' and 13', have moved out of State or to another Dealer.

Tell the salesman this, "no one pays msrp and you don't pay retail". have your camera ready...the responses are priceless and you have set rules...
