Glad to see you back looking, Lyle. We recently purchased a Newmar Ventana 4369. It is a bath and half and the rear bath is huge with a large emergency door for an exit. There is also an emergency exit window in the bedroom. We've been looking for a long time and drove many coaches. Unfortunately for all the other manufacturers, the Newmar line was the first we looked at and the other manufacturers could never come close to the quality and especially the drivability of the Newmar. We just got back from a two week 1500 miles trip and I cannot find one reason to take it back to the dealer. The comfort steering and the passive steer tag axle are both phenomenal. I didn't realize one day we were driving with a cross wind until we stopped for lunch. After lunch I stepped out to do my usual walk around and thats when I realized there was a strong wind blowing. I'm sold on Newmar for many reasons. Good luck in your search, Lyle.

I agree 100% with everything you said, Carl. Like you, I don't agree with his way of doing business and I'm sure that is another of the many reasons I don't have $2 billion plus. BTW, I'm working on my first billion and so far I think I can get there in another 103 years if the rate of inflation continues.

What would he buy? He is a smart business man and smart business people don't buy something unless it has value. Does FMCA have any financial value? Maybe some furniture and fixtures.

I find it very interesting there is all this negativity towards Marcus Lemonis. Why? Is it because he is such a successful businessman? I'm serious, I don't understand. I'm a Good Sam's member and hate to enter a Camping World store but sometime its necessary. I would never use them for service and would not buy a RV from them because of their service reputation. But....by the opinions of many FMCA members being voiced on another thread, FMCA members are voting to become just like Good Sam without their benefits. My questions is - why is there so much disdain for Marcus? BTW, since going public less than a year ago, the stock has almost doubled.

Since I'm easily confused, what does the post title "health insurance" have to do with the question? If you need computer access, you probably should give more information. Are you moving around or mostly static? How secure does the connection need to be? Are you frequently in areas of good cell service? What will your gig usage be? Do you want to depend on campground wifi?
-
How does it normally operate? Does it start from a switch, when you open the hose door or when you insert the hose? Three different scenarios with three or more solutions.

LOL....I'm regularly digging myself out of having hoof and mouth disease.

Herman, I believe Bass Pro Shop is buying Cabellas. Bass Pro bid on Gander Mountain but lost out to Marcus.

We just left Big Bend after a week of doing some birding and off roading. We stayed just outside the park in Study Butte/Terlingua at the Big Bend RV Resort and Adventures with full hook-ups and accommodated our 44 ft MH. It is not a resort by any stretch of your imagination. As Carl mentioned, Maverick Rv Resort is by far the nicest park but its about 20 miles to the entrance of the park. Cottonwood General store is a well stocked grocery store in in Study Butte, pronounced Stoody Butte, that has almost everything you will need including wine and beer. Rio Grande Village Campground, a asphalt parking lot with hook-ups, has 25 sites of which 20 are reservable and 5 held for first come first serve. It is closed until at least Oct because of a water issue. If you have time, drive from Terlingua to Presidio, its a beautiful drive along the Rio Grande River. Also, go sit on the porch at the general store in the Ghost Town and enjoy the locals as they spin yarns. I'm pretty sure some of these people are in the witness protection program. Before you leave the area, visit Fort Davis and stay a few days in the Fort Davis State park. It is full hook-ups, drive thru sites. Like Tom said, there are so many places in the valley you just need to go and see for yourself. They range from golf course resorts to small mom and pop campgrounds. We will be staying at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in Mercedes, TX next April for spring migration.

I'm don't understand why manufacturers are still installing this product. I just bought a Newmar with it and the care instructions for the Diamond Shield includes a lot of don't 's and very few do's.
-
Are you referring to the Diamond Shield coating or an actual bra that fits over the front cap of the motorhome? If its the Diamond Shield here are some links to removing it: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/diamondshield-removal-ouch-259954.html

Did Full Timing Really Save You A Lot Of Money?
elkhartjim replied to mweiner's topic in Full-timing
Mark....you are not making any friends and if thats your objective you're on the wrong forum. I told you several weeks ago that we all have an opinion and if it doesn't agree with yours you go bonkers trying to convince us we are wrong. You have your opinion and personally I don't agree with hardly any of them but they are your opinions and I'm perfectly happy for you to share them just don't try to change everyone else to think like you. I suggest you either back off or back away from this forum and please stop private messaging me. Brett, you can delete or edit this post, but I, like some of the other members have endured about as many his posts as possible. -
I've been with them 8 years. Every year I have a friend that is an independent insurance agent check for best rates. He has not been able to come close. As far as claims, they paid $10,000+ to replace my roof 4 years ago and never raised my rate. Repaired windshield chips on the motorhome 3 times and replaced the windshield on my wife's Lexus and no rate increase. When we moved from Montgomery County, TX to Comal County, TX, our rates when down substantially.

Bill, the tire with good tread in places, brand and age please. When I put my Bounder up for sale, the first looker walked around and felt the tread on every tire and commented they had lots of life left in them. He never checked a date code because if he had he would have noticed they are almost 6 years old. He didn't buy it and thankfully the eventual buyer never made any comment about the tires so I didn't feel obligated to tell him they would all need to be replaced soon.

I contacted my insurance provider this week to make a change to my policy. They asked the usual questions but this time they had a different question,"are you a member of any rving groups like Good Sam's?". I said yes and then asked about FMCA; they are not on our list but with you being a member of Good Sam we can provide a better rate. Another benefit from Good Sam's I was not aware of. BTW, the insurance provider is The Hartford.

Fuel Economy-- Was This A Primary Consideration?
elkhartjim replied to mweiner's topic in Type B Motorhomes
I'm sure there must be other van conversion owners that are members or FMCA but apparently they don't participate in the forum. Mark, fuel mileage must have been the driving force for your van purchase. Comfort was the reason for my class A purchase, to each his own. Hopefully another van conversion owner will join your conversation.- 43 replies

When we picked up our new coach last week, I asked the sales manager what he thought about FMCA and if they ever discussed it with customers. Boy did I get an ear full and it wasn't nice. He was at a FMCA rally in Perry at some point representing the Newmar dealer network when he and all the other dealer reps heard about a meeting where some individual was telling the attendees how to buy a motorhome at cost. I guess I don't have to tell you, they were upset and after a few days the group had decided to do all they could to NOT support FMCA. I'm just repeating his story. I don't have a clue if its factual or a bunch of bunk. I do know that our Newmar had a prominent brochure for CoachNet. The dealer is Holiday World in Katy, TX, with multiple locations.

I had an issues several years ago that the genset would die. I would restart and it would run for several minutes and die or it may run for a much longer time and then die. It was a loose ground connection on the house batteries. I tightened it and solved the problem. Seems to me, 75% of our electrical problems are poor ground connections.

Extended Warranty Or Self Insured?
elkhartjim replied to mweiner's topic in Extended Service Policies
You might consider looking at a plan with unlimited towing mileage. If you have a problem with the chassis, the nearest Mercedes dealer could be several hundred miles away, they aren't usually located in every small town you come across. -
I was driving in my Jeep back from the Houston area to the hill country today on I-10. Ambient temp was 105-107. The speed limit is 75mph. I was driving 75-78 when a driver came around me going maybe 85 towing a Montana fifth wheel. I expected to see his tires explode any minute but alas, he drove on in to the sunset.

Herman, you may want to consider this also. I use RejeX on the front of my motorhome including the windshield. It makes bug removal much easier especially during love bug season.

Norcold Refrigerator Lawsuit Settlement

Wow...for some of you it was like Publishers Clearing House ringing your doorbell. I received $9.87. I think I'll frame it and hang it over the Samsung that I replaced it with.
