I use it on the windshield for ease of bug removal...can't see much difference between it and any similar product.

I never use truck washes...don't want that high powered sprayer putting water where it should not be. I have a portable AC powered washer I used to use on a boat...don't use it on the MH either.

As Brett pointed out, we must remember the Allison is smarter than we are. Along the same line, I read on another forum that very recently Allison cranked out their 500,000th 4000 model transmission.

The Michelin manual that came with my tires says, "Michelin recommends placing a barrier (cardboard, plastic or plywood) between the tire and the storage surface."

Joe...don't know what you mean by "run" but Lloyd DeGerald, one of the Aqua Hot gurus, says all you need to do monthly is turn on the burner and walk to the AH exhaust. As soon as the exhaust is warm, you've done all you need to do, so you can turn it off. He also advised that when camping you should also turn the "Tempering Valve" (gray knob on the right side) all the way to the left, then all the way to the right...then back to your setting....monthly.

My manual says the jacks should be used when in storage.

DBH...I sent you a PM last night.

Thanks, Brett. The person who sent this said he'd like to see the link or document recommending running a diesel for a few minutes that started this discussion. I for one, would like to see HIS reference for the statement above. If it's really important, it would be in the manuals. He then goes on to say, "Cummins has suggested in seminars...." Fine, who is "Cummins?" I'm certainly no diesel expert, but have owned four...a Duramax, Yanmar, ISL and my current DD. NOBODY recommends idling these things. Here's a quote from my DD manual: "The common belief that idling a diesel engine causes no engine damage is wrong. Idling produces sulfuric acid, which is absorbed by the lubricating oil and eats into the bearings, rings, valve stems and engine surfaces." It goes on to say if you must idle an engine, for cab heating or cooling, idle at high idle.

It appears CGs are not nearly as congenial as hotels and motels. For most CGs, if you have a registration, be it for a day or a week, if you cancel for any reason at any time, you will be charged at least the first night's stay. You have to watch them, they are slick. We spent a week at Riverview RV Park in Vidalia, LA. Their policy was to charge one night, none refundable when making the reservation, the rest payable upon arrival. When I checked my credit card I noticed they had charged me nearly $250, the full amount...two months prior to our arrival!

I don't know if they are still doing it, but American Coach used to put in two 2800 watt inverter/chargers and each had four AGM 6v batteries to power it...with one dedicated to the refer. A second inverter is not necessary. My Whirlpool uses 3 amps when the compressor is running. I think Carl has this set up.

The problem with traps and bait inside is you'll have dead mice in the coach. Try camphor balls around every part of the coach that touches the ground.
-
Are you sure the charger itself is off? I have two switches...one for the inverter, one for the charger. They can be turned off/on separately.

Yep....and some of the "non profit" employees are doing okay. The CEO of the Red Cross has a base salary of over $500k.
-
I'm not an old trucker, but I love engine brakes...in RVs that come air brakes, too.
-
It appears some folks are under the impression that "non profit" means no paid employees, that is not correct. I have been a volunteer at Habitat For Humanity for 11 years. We have lots of volunteers, but we also have six paid employees to run the organization.

Power Need To Tow 12,000 lb Trailer
five replied to LEEDIANNE's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
To determine the weight you can tow, the tow rating is the lower of: 1. Coach's hitch rating. 2. Coach tow rating. 3. Chassis tow rating (sometimes different than the coach's). 4. The difference in weight between the coach's GCWR and the coach's actual weight when ready to tow. Many coaches with tag axles have tow ratings of 15,000, as do some "luxury'' models with single rear axles. In the subject, the OP mentioned having enough power to tow 12k. If the coach meets the requirements above, power will not be an issue. -
I find it hard to believe that a coach with an MSRP north of $300k doesn't have a built in surge guard.
-
If you have a Trimark controller, it can be reprogrammed. Don't know where it is on a Tiffin, on my ACs one was under the steps, this coach has it in the forward basement compartment, street side.

It appears that this thread has gone for so long and covered so many different topics, the real reason for bringing in other types RVs has been long forgotten. The ONLY reason for increasing membership is to pay for FMCA Assist....period. There are not enough current members to pay for the number of times it is forecast that the FMCA Assist program will be used. The answer is really very easy, we have three options: 1. Stop using FMCA Assist...money problems solved, don't need the "other" members. 2. Allow "other" members...FMCA Assist will be financially solvent. 3. Offer an FMCA Assist type insurance program on an individual basis...with that person(s) paying the premium. As one of my favorite talk show hosts says, "follow the money."

In a word, no, since you haven't reached the eight hours required. Depending on how far we are going, sometimes when taking a break, I will do the entire pre tow run up...then I can start on a new eight hours before having to do it again. If towing consecutive days without driving the CRV, I put a trickle charger on it that first night. BTW, the CRV manual gives good instructions.

I put two trouble lights, each with a 60w, bulb, any where there is water...in case one burns out, still covered. Then add anti freeze to P traps and toilets.
-
Always a good idea to check the owner's manual as well...especially if the towed vehicle is under warranty.
-
Good advice.

No reason for confusion....Jmholb57 is the OP, but fagnami made the post about the transmission to which I was commenting. However, I read the initial post where there was no mention of chassis...missed where it was mentioned in the third post. So am I now in the time out chair with you??
-
Didn't mention the chassis on purpose... fagnaml mentioned the trans specifically...so that's what I did.
