  1. Same here. It seems most of these systems are on gassers or lighter DPs. My coach has a GVWR of 49k, IFS (if that makes any difference) and a tag axle. With the heavy duty power steering on this thing, I can't see the need for any more steering assist. As for a front tire failure, had the RF blow in our previous coach, an AC Allegiance, and had no control problems getting it off the road and on to the shoulder. Also, we just finished a long trip that included, OK, KS, CO, WY, SD, and a few more "windy" states, and had no control issues at all. I may be incorrect, but it seems I either read or was told that the added steering systems are not needed on the heavy tag axle coaches.
  2. AAA is probably okay for you. But what will tow you, will not budge a 50K DP.
  3. The only problem I've heard about AAA service, and I've heard several of these complaints, is they are not familiar with MHs. Therefore they send a truck incapable of towing a MH and/or a driver that has no idea how to rig the MH for towing so as not to ruin the Allison. I've heard enough complaints that I will not use them. Coach Net or GS....it's a toss up.
  4. Call Glendinning, they are very helpful. http://www.glendinningprods.com/
  5. Every MH is in one of three conditions: - It's broken. - You just fixed it. - It's getting ready to break.
  6. Check boat dealers, that's where I keep mine....20 x 50, with power, water and secured, with an employee living on the property.
  7. Probably not his truck, so if the engine blows, he can honestly tell his boss, "yes, I sure did check the oil at the last refuel stop."
  8. Joe, in both our MHs, the paper work included a brochure from the tire manufacturer listing PSIs for all tires based on weight, size and used as a single or dually. You need more information from BFG other than just max weight and max pressure.
  9. Mwiener....this is why I got rid of my macerator system. To answer your question...the Eagle dumps fine.
  10. We bought the coach in the signature in May 2015. Original owner took the huge initial depreciation hit and fixed the bugs...most of them anyway.
  11. It's all about the money. Personally, I can't see ever using FMCA Assist. If either one of us have a medical emergency we would go to the nearest medical facility capable of handling our problem that accepts Medicare. Three years ago I broke an ankle while on the road half way to our destination. It was my left ankle, so we drove on the next day, went to a doc in a box who took Medicare....done deal, never even had to file paperwork. Now if you have a medical emergency and want to go home for treatment, then FMCA Assist would be a good thing. So, bottom line there are three choices: 1. Increase dues...I mean REALLY increase dues. 2. Allow towables, and continue to keep all the MHers who say they'll quit if towables are allowed.. 3. Eliminate FMCA Assist. .
  12. We had an OEM macerator. Like virtually everybody I know, it has been removed and now gathers dust in storage. Biggest complaint was very slow, took for ever to dump. I heard so many negative comments from so many people, I never tried it, just took it out. We have two macerator toilets, so dumping is very easy. These toilets do such a good job, one in our group leaves his black tank open and treats it like the grey tank...says never had a problem.
  13. That's why they say to avoid long periods at idle.
  14. It is virtually impossible to determine DEF usage other than doing it yourself in your coach. As Joe noted, it is very different for each vehicle. I've given up trying to determine usage, and keep the DEF level between half and 3/4, and always carry an extra 2 1/2 gallon jug from Walmart in the basement.
  15. I've been out of the net....the information I posted on 6/18 is from one of the FMCA officers. There will be a vote to decide the towable membership issue. If you don't vote, don't complain, regardless of the outcome.
  16. This answer makes sense. No hot air is being pumped through the coach unless the "heat' option is selected on the thermostat.
  17. Call REV Group that now owns Monaco.

    RV Envy

Get what you need and want that fits your budget and life style. We have friends that down sized from a Newell to a small Class B on a Mercedes chassis....no longer wanted the hassle of a big rig and all the 'stuff' that goes with it.
  19. The answer is easy....follow the money. The FMCA Assist Program is very expensive. Very briefly, if you are on the road and have some type medical emergency, it covers emergency medical evacuation/repatriation, emergency reunion, return of dependents, pet return, vehicle return and prescription and glasses replacement. This is a no charge service to dues paying members. Greater detail and explanation can be found on line. The second most costly thing FMCA provides is the magazine. They have raised the annual dues, but are still losing money. The only way to stay financially afloat, and keep the FMCA Assist Program, is to generate more revenue and/or reduce expenses. Permitting towables to join would greatly increase the revenue. So the bottom line is, if FMCA is going to keep FMCA Assist, towables will have to be permitted to join. If members do not want FMCA Assist, it can be eliminated and things will go back to the way they were....no towables, no FMCA Assist.
  20. I had a similar experience. The hardware does not seem to be a problem, but the lights give them fits. On one occasion, when I tracked my problem down, it was just plain sloppy work...a wire bundle suspended in the air by a short piece of wire...rather than putting in a longer piece of wire that would not be holding up the whole thing.
  21. I had a similar problem, the motor ran but the hose did not move. So I took the panel off, pulled the hose out manually and rewound it with the motor. The motor was okay, but the hose was twisted on the reel and would not move.
  22. A point of clarification. Memorial Day is not a day to honor veterans...that's Veteran's Day, Nov 11 each year. The official definition of Memorial Day is to honor any person who died while serving on active duty. However, most military people think of Memorial Day as a day to honor those killed in action.

    Fuel Fill Cap

    Thanks for the suggestions.
  24. Bill is correct. In Nov 14, we went to Honda to get a 15 CRV, that's when we found out they now use a CVT transmission and they can't be towed four down. I sent Honda a snail mail letter with a copy of Motor Home magazine's article saying the CRV was the favorite tow vehicle for MH drivers. Got a letter back and a number to call. I called the number but the guy didn't really seen too concerned....we ended up with a 14 CRV.

    Fuel Fill Cap

Fuel caps ties must be really high dollar items since my coach did not come with one on either cap. Thus when refueling, sometimes there is no place to put the cap except in the ground. A poster on another forum suggested drilling a small hole through the raised ridge on the cap, and running a piece of fishing line through the hole and securing it, then securing the other end to something in side the fuel door. My question and concern is whether or not the ridge on the cap is hollow or solid. If hollow some of the small pieces of plastic that resulting from drilling the hole could end up in the fuel tank. If that ridge is solid, should be no problem.
