  1. This is just my opinion. Once when in Perry, there was a vendor in a Fifth Wheel with a generator literally hanging off the back of his unit. He was parked in the 24 Hour Gen Lot. Everyone of his neighbor complained of the noise. We ended up putting him on and 30 amp electric without water or sewer away from everyone. So possibly that may have caused the restriction. I don't know for sure, just my speculation. This was before there were any talk about towables. Herman
  2. Jim, No difference other than what it is called. Years ago where ever you were down south, if you questioned the menu a Chicken Fried Steak was always a good choose. However now many places go to places like Sam's but a box of frozen, heavenly breaded, pattie of hard to describe ground beef. When cooked the breading puffs up and the pattie sriviles up and you need a Steak Knife to cut it. A really good CFS is a nice thin cut of Flank or Round Steak, really tinderized, dregged in seasoned flour then milk and back into the flour and into the frying pan. And when done right you can cut it with you fork. A must is Cream Gravy and Mash Potatoes. Mmmm, I have just talked myself into lunch at Tracks in Sherman, TX. Herman
  3. My concern is that Chrysler knows that they have a severe issue but still recommends them for towing. Herman
  4. Bill, Babe's has a number of locations and they are all great. We have also eaten at the one in Burleson. They have one in Granbury, Garland and Sanger. The home style servings are great. The nice thing is that they have Fried Chicken, Fried Fish and Chicken Fried Steak (which is so much better than those other places with Country Fried Steak.) Herman
  5. We have had so much rain here that when I was at Lowe's just the other day, I saw a man with long hair, a beard and wearing a robe, trying to buy lumber in cubic lengths. Herman
  6. Most wrenches today are forged with tolerances to allow for plating. A thousands of an inch too much will make the tool loose and as was said there goes the hex head. I have some very old wrenches that were US made and before shining and they still fit snug and show no sign of wear. Herman
  7. Richard, You are correct about Snap-On. They do cater to the mechanics in shops. However if you see one of their trucks at a shop or dealer you can go in and buy any tool you want. One of the main differences is each mechanic has an account with the individual Snap-No dealer. You would need to pay with cash or CC. I got my first Tool Box in 1964 and my son in Wyoming has it on his work bench today A good Snap-On dealer can make some really good money. I also have several Proto tools still. You can also buy from a Matco truck the same as Snap-On. Herman

  10. Side note. FMCA conventions have put in a restriction on generators. They, at this time for now, must be permanently mounted in the RV not put on the ground or on an outside rack. This was from on EB member. Herman
  11. Joe the one mirror on the bathroom sliding door was too much for me. When we first got the coach I was getting ready for a shower and stepped over to close the door, I had only closed it from the kitchen side before then. As I closed it, I jumped back as I got the scare of my like. There stood a naked man that was really out of shape, ME. Not a pretty site. Herman
  12. The tag on our Monaco had an up/down switch. When in the up position the tag will rise about two inches off the ground and will beep an alarm when up until I believe about 5 to 8 mph. When in the down position the tag will return to the down and support position. One problem is that when I forget to lower it the DW will ask, "Is the tag UP?" With my hearing I can't hear the alarm, just in the wrong pitch. Herman
  13. Joe the wall cleaned up nicely. A number of years ago in Motor Home Mag. they posed a question to the ladies, "what would you do if you were designing the interior of a MH". On ladies said she would remove all the mirrors. She knew what she looked like and it didn't make the inside any larger. Your kitchen looks just like ours except we have a table rather then the booth and there is a shelf running the length of the Passengers side. I use the mirror to see the news (in reverse) when we are eating. Our fridge is covered with Grand Kids pictures. Herman

  15. Thanks Dennis, I contacted Dish today. The nice young lady I spoke to had to check but did find out about it. I have a hopper in both the coach and in the house. She said that it is a program just for Truckers and RVs. I would have to have an account for the house and one for the RV. Sounds great for full timers but just not for me.   16. Sorry Time Traveler, I have this picture in my mind of Tom Cruise coming up through the floor of an Airplane. I the OP is speaking of the front door and not a bay door. I know the pin your are thinking of and have changed all of mine with the ones with the Aluminum Pin. Herman
  17. When I traveled in my work, all over the Southwest, I would seek out Hamburger Joints. A little place by the 7 UP plant in Paris Texas, Kings in El Dorado Arkansas, Georges in Durant Oklahoma. Any time I recommend a place to eat, I always start with "the last time I was here". When in Shreveport Louisiana we always try to have breakfast at "Straws". I forgot, The Feed Sack in Windom, Texas. Most of the time when we are traveling and see a place we would like to investigate, there is no place to pull off and park. I know we have passed up some jewels but couldn't park. As Bill said what is wonderful for one is not so hot for some one else. But what the heck Bon appetit to all. Herman

  21. If I have learned anything about the wind, it is that the wind doesn't like me or my motor home. No matter what direction I am traveling I will have a Head Wind or a Cross Wind. I can't remember the last time I had a Tail Wind. I am not sure (yes Bill it is spelled "Sure") , I would know how to handle a Tail Wind. Herman

  23. kt, There are so many ways for you to tow a vehicle. They all have their good and bad points. Tow dolly, trailer, enclosed trailer or a 4x4 vehicle ( however not all 4x4s' are the same). In your case, if it was me, I would look for a really nice Pre-Owned small 4x4 crew cab pickup. Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Ram and + + +. With each of these you have the capability of towing 4 down and being able of exceeding 65 MPH without issues, Seating for 4 + adults, and last but not least you can get a TRUCK and be a cowboy at the same time . There are a number of pre-owned vehicle that are towable 4 down with out 4 wheel drive. An older model of the Honda CRV, a Saturn Vue and the Buick Enclave. All are nice SUVs and towable 4 down (65 MPH max speed, you can exceed that for a very short distance but not continuous). Good luck, Herman
  24. kt, There a number of very good Tow Bars on the market. They all hook up in the same manner. connect the tow bar to the tow vehicle. Hook up the Safety Cables some are straight while some are coiled. Hook up the Electrical cable. Hook up the Safety Brake Away cable. As I said they are all similar. For my self I will then back up the tow vehicle just to make sure to tow bar is locked in the extended position. I then go through the procedure of putting the transfer case into neutral, release the parking brake and place the shifter into F or R and rev the engine. This will tell me that I am truly in neutral. Turn off the engine, remove the key, fold in the mirrors and lock the doors. I can remove the key because my Silverado doesn't have a steering wheel lock and I have M & G air brakes and do not need power for a compressor. Herman PS: Just a side note, From all I have heard for Jeep owners here on the Forum, the only Jeep I would consider would be a 2 or 4 door Wrangler. Too many issues with The Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee. Again IMHO (in my humble opinion)
