Grass in an RV park in the desert! That's a good one! I am kidding, of course, but grass is really not a high priority in these areas. There are so many parks in the area I am sure you can find one to your liking. If you have not done so already, check out http://www.rvparky.com/ and do a search for each city to find all of the listings.

Can Bathroom Cleaning Product Be Used In A Motorhome?
BillAdams replied to ultraglide's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Yes, absolutely. You don't want to leave any of these chemials sitting in the bowl where they could effect the seals but that also means you don't want to leave them in an empty holding tank where it could effect that seal.- 3 replies

This might give you a pretty good idea of what you can bring into Canada from the US. http://www.inspection.gc.ca/food/information-for-consumers/travellers/what-can-i-bring-into-canada-/eng/1389648337546/1389648516990#a1

Deep cycle is good for house batteries but a pair of 6V batteries is not necessary if you have 1 - 12V battery that suits your current needs.

The tires do need to be the same diameter (or should I say, should be) so the 22.5 is the constant. The 275 tire and 255 tire are different widths with different rims size requirements but it's often possible to mount 2 different width tires on the same rim. It appears that in your case this is NOT an issue. You could either keep the current configuration or put all 255 tires on all axles. Moving to wider tires on the drive may not be a good idea as the wider tires could be too close, or even touch, which would be a bad thing.

I sounds like you have something running when you plug into the outlet (sounds like a regular household 15 amp plug?) that is drawing too much and causing a voltage drop due to the cord you are using. You don't have this issue with 50 amp which has more power and a much better power cord. Does that sound like a possibility? If not, we are going to need more details.

Can you manually push a lower number and have the transmission downshift or is it not working at all?

Suggestions for RV parks near Salt Lake City, UT
BillAdams replied to lollypoppy14's topic in Campgrounds
Unless you get parked very close to the front of the KOA in SLC there is no chance you are going to hear the commuter train. I have never been parked up that far as the overnight locations generally seem to be in the very back. -
Campground Suggestions For Lubbock & Albuquerque
BillAdams replied to floridaroom5's topic in Campgrounds
Flagstaff you should stay at the Black Bart RV park and then go to the restaurant for dinner. Have the Prime Rib and enjoy the show! ABQ has lots of camping options. If you just want to overnight then take a look at the parks just W of ABQ as they are right off the Interstate and they are all about the same. You can dry camp at the Sandia Casino (you are actually welcome!) or you can go a bit South and stay at the Isleta RV park near the Isleta Casino (started as Isleta, changed to Hard Rock, changed back to Isleta) which is a very nice park. -

I feel I have better control over the speed at which my tow bar locks if I am sitting in the tow vehicle. Just inch it back, feel the lock and stop. If I am in the drivers seat of the MH I can't see it, I don't have the same feel and the speed is difficult to judge. That is me, however. What works for you is the one and only exactly correct way to do it.

Wouldn't that still be backing up the towed? Horsepower or human power, you still want to back the towed until the tow bar locks.

This is not referring to backing up your tow vehicle. This is a referrence to not backing the motorhome up while the tow vehicle is connected. When doing a connection and preparing to leave you want to connect the tow bar to the tow vehicle and then gently back up the tow vehicle until at least one leg of the tow bar locks. You will then be able to slowly move the motorhome forward pulling the tow vehicle into the proper alignment which will lock the second leg. If you need to take additional steps before towing like running through the gears, doing a driveshaft disconnect or changing position in a transfer case, this can be done AFTER at least one leg is locked but before you begin to move the motorhome forward for alignment.

Suggestions for RV parks near Salt Lake City, UT
BillAdams replied to lollypoppy14's topic in Campgrounds
The "best" RV park in Salt Lake City is the Salt Lake City KOA. It's right where you want to be if you are looking to visit the major tourist sites in SLC. It's also a great park with easy in/out access and good facilities. If you want to be in the "general" area, there are other parks that may even cost less. You just need to let us know if that's the case. When I need to stay "in" SLC, this is the only park for me. There is another RV park N. of town called Pony Express which has excellent facilities as well, it just depends upon what's more important. Price or location. -
Amazing Experience TRYING to Get RV Insurance
BillAdams replied to AllegroJohn's topic in RV Insurance
Are you saying that you are going to file a compalaint with the State Insurance Commission because you did not get a return phone call? No one, especially the State Insurance Commission would care what club you belong to be it FMCA or the ELKS (same type of club). If someone does not want to do business with you, why would you pursue them to force them to do so. The way to send the message is to NOT do business with these companies. CALL SOMEONE ELSE! Progressive is a good start as are some of the others listed above. You may also want to call National Insurance for a quote as well. Edit: I wrote another name other than National in this post but that was not what I meant. I have corrected it. -

Million Dollar Highway CO 550
BillAdams replied to akadeadeye's question in Destinations/Attractions
Funny, I drove PCH 1 from Montery South (and that's the outside) and would do it again in a minute in either direction. Take it slow and enjoy the view. Still, no Million Dollar Highway for me. -
Million Dollar Highway CO 550
BillAdams replied to akadeadeye's question in Destinations/Attractions
Yes, it's that bad. We detoured over 100 miles to avoid that segement in our RV. It's a great trip in a tow vehicle or possibly even a smaller RV, but a large RV is not going to be any fun at all. -
Yep, I loved that part as well. Sounds like a man with a death wish....."Excuse me sir, you may not be aware that I have a rule that your generator should be shut down at 10PM at the very latest. If you do not follow my commands I will be forced to take actions that may make your stopover here less than enjoyable!"
-
I completely agree that anything that appears to be a gathering or camping is going to frowned upon and could easily cause problems for those wanting to use the overnighting option. However, running my generator at night so I can use my A/C on a hot night is not discourteous to anyone as I locate myself away from others and out of traffic flow. If others arrive and choose to park close, C'est la vie.
-
Unfortunately, that kind of overnight parking is exactly where you would expect to find RVers running their generators at any time without any restrictions or anyone telling them that they should. Same with Wal-Mart parking. There should be no thought, from anyone around, that a generator should be shut down at any particular time and if your RV does not fit in one space with slides open it's going to take more than one space. I don't know of any parking lot overnighting (not camping) that includes the rules you proclaim but I am sorry to hear that you were upset by the normal use of these facilities.

Roof Mounted Satellite Dishes
BillAdams replied to ionebears's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
The Pathway has 3 satellite reception options. You can point it toward the Dish Western satellites (110, 119, 129) or the Eastern satellites (61.5, 72.7 and 77) or if you want full use of both receivers you can select the 2 receiver option and it will point the Pathway to the 72.7 satellite only. This satellite has ALL of the Dish programming coming from one satellite and both receivers will be able to watch channel they like. The only programming which is not there is your local Network programming but you can use your OTA for the reception of those couple of channels. I also responded to your duplicate post on RV.Net. You have a couple of responses there. I recommend the X2 over the X1 and it would be easy enough to modify your existing cable connection or put in a new dedicated line to connect your portable to your receiver. You may also be able to repurpose an outside TV coax connection if you aren't using that cable. -
Since you are not leaving for a month you should not have to do a thing! They should be out of the nest a couple of weeks after hatching.

There's no such thing as too hot while driving. Tires are designed to handle any and all temperatures you might encounter on any pavement at any speed (legal speed) with the proper inflation. Put the proper cold air pressure (the one printed on the side wall and adjusted by the manufacturers weight rating) and have a nice day. You do not need to over think this part of RVing.
