  1. At any of the Walmart's, or others, be sure to inquire to make sure that it is OK at that location to overnight. Walmart and many others usually welcome your overnight stay, but some cities have ordinances that prohibit this, and the customer service desk will gladly tell you if OK or not. Seveireville Tn. Walmart is one that you can not overnight at because of local ordinances, which I'm sure the many campgrounds very near have been able to get passed. Have a wonderful trip, Kay
  2. Mine has 3 spiral type gears that rotate around another, all three had an eclip holding them in place of which only one was missing. These gears are located inside the same canister as the motor. What brand and model is your awning? Also the drive mechanism is usually held in place to the motor by a roll pin, at least on the models that I have repaired.
  3. Joe, wish my air chambers, air bags, and shocks had been that easy. All done except one bag was back ordered, hope that isn't too long coming. Shooting for Oct 7 take off for Pigeon Forge.
  4. I have A&E awnings, one came from the factory doing the same thing that the OP described, I found that an e-clip was missing, replaced that and has worked correctly for 3.5 years now.
  5. Herman, yes I have an over and under hitch, that came from Harbor Freight, although I still use a tow dolly which has to be removed anyway, that is where I carry the golf cart, and auto.
  6. Shortbus, I purchased a flagpole mount at CW that fits in the receiver on the back of the bus, has worked well for me.
  7. I don't know if yours is A&E or Carefree or what, but here is a manual for A&E with metal roller cover, hope it helps to understand how most of them work. http://hmcclub.homestead.com/awning_replacement_instructions.pdf
  8. As Herman said, open the awning fully, and from the end that is too far away from the awning arm, try pulling the awning back into place. Most of the covers that I have seen are fixed to the awning itself, and the awning can usually be pulled into place especially if the "screw/rivet stop" has been omitted, or fallen out.
  9. If early Nov., Tannehill will be great, Oct., it is packed out, if I know when you will be in the area, I will be glad to reserve a spot, have to place a tent on the site to reserve. Also FtPayne is where the Alabama museum is located, Desoto State Park is located very near this location and is a very nice Park, Nocalula Falls park is in Gadsten 35 miles short of FtPayne, pretty nice park also. What part of Florida are you located? I lived in Lake City for 12 years 32 years ago, call is n4wqp, welcome aboard, and 73.
  10. The epoxy primer is good advice, silicone caulk will actually start the oxidation process on raw steel prematurely. Butyl rubber caulk is another alternative.
  11. I had to replace the right side manifold last January, I have also felt that pain. Mine does have a left and right side, as it is a V-6.
  12. And then there is active directory, another branch of the tree, on a domain server.
  13. Yes, you can add a 24 volt chassis system to the list on some, mine has this, and Bill Adams most likely has one.
  14. Sidney., I once had a sportscoach that the converter was under the dash, just another place to look. Joe, the old rubber bungy straps work pretty well as a temporary battery tie down, comes in many sizes and are easy to find.
  15. glsponchos, can you post the stove name and model number, will help in trying to diagnose.
  16. One can normally move one or both steers to the rear axel as a temporary fix while being towed to a tire service center.
  17. There is one thing that comes to mind on the OP's question, is that does each burner control have a piezzo built into the knob? This is what strikes the arc, do you push in and hold each knob, or is there one knob for gas on each burner and another that you push and hold to strike the burner. Mine is the second one described, if it is the first described, there may be a battery within the control, usually the knob screws off of the unit and you will find a "AA" battery behind the knob, if it is of this style, the burner attach to that knob will not stay lit. As Joe pointed out, the induction cooktop has infinite control, and is the best thing for cooking since we want to change from propane to electric, Just remember to use good quality induction cookware.
  18. The way we always cleaned a gas stove burner is to remove the stove top, usually slides in one direction and lift off. Next, of course make sure that the burner has not been lit lately and is not hot, lift up on the burner and slide it off of the orifice housing. We always prepared a hot water solution with dawn dish washing liquid, submerse the burner into the solution and let stand several minutes, take it out of the solution and rinse well with hot water. Let the burner hang up and dry before replacing it. "IF" the unit is clogged, it is usually grease or syrup like substance. Most stove top burners do not have a thermo couple, the igniter serves both purposes. Here is wikihow web page also, http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-a-Gas-Stove-Clean A word of caution, "DO NOT USE ANY FLAMMABLE CLEANING FLUID" , petroleum or naptha based for cleaning the burners.
  19. Actually Carl, have camped near another camper who uses Charmin exclusively, her secret, places a small garbage can that auto closes after use, large sign over the John, "NO TISSUE IN COMMODE" with an arrow pointing to the G-can. Claims she never has had any problem? Mr. Wipple calling.
  20. I left Good Sams and went to AAA 4 years ago. Every time I called Good Sam, there was always a hitch, they would only tow to the closest facility even though I offered to pay the difference of 25 miles to the nearest versus 42 to my home. Have used AAA 4 times in the last years, always Johnny on the spot and have towed to my home on one occasion. Will never go back to Good Sams. Last year I had a breakdown in a major intersection, my wife informed me that she had not renewed our AAA membership while at the breakdown site. I called for the nearest wrecker that could handle my coach, he towed less than three miles, charge $525.00 for that tow which I paid cash as no credit card allowed for this service. When we returned home from that trip, I called AAA to renew my membership, the nice lady said that my membership had not expired, DW had auto-renew in effect. I explained the large tow bill to her, and she immediately e-mailed me a form to fill out which had to be sent back with the origional receipt. Less than two weeks later, the AAA check for $525.00 was in the mail.
  21. A google search indicates that the Sprinter chassis is a unibody design, meaning that there is not a traditional rail frame under it. I think that is why Mercedes want allow any modifications to it. Like Tom said, Erniee's solution of placing something under the tires to help level the unit makes sense for a cheaper alternative to leveling jacks. I went to Tractor Supply and bought a large stall mat, made from recycled tires, then cut this into several smaller mats, the material is about 3/4 inches thick, and can be stacked several high under all tires that need height compensated. Of course the system that JMGOLDEN suggested in the long run probably is a very good solution. Incidentally, I always place at least one of the mats that I described under every tire on the coach, when parked for any length stay, regardless of what the material under the tires is made of, concrete and most gravel is alkaline and has a harsh effect on the rubber in tires, asphalt is petroleum based and has a harsh effect on tires, and bare earth has minerals as well as an insect carrier up to the coach.
  22. No, not recycling the receiver, actually going through the setup of the receiver, this is only when and if i can't find a good signal. I use an "Answer" dish which I do have to set the elevation on, then it will automatically search the azimuth. When it fails to find a signal, I go through setup for the zipcode that I am currently in to get the correct elevation for the area, for instance, I live in central Alabama, the elevation is 48 degrees, when in Northeast Florida, correct elevation is 45 degrees. Correct term probably should have been reprogrammed the receiver.
  23. I use Directv and never call and tell them anything about zipcode. I know that I can't get local programming when more than 100 or so miles from my home location. I sometimes do a reset of the receiver to the local zipcode just to be able to read the coordinates for dish adjustment. I do not subscribe to relocation so I know that calling will do no good. I do use an antenna for local broadcast when outside my home area.
  24. HELP is where the heart should be!
  25. I use 3 12 volt dc batteries in parallel for my 12 volt supply in my coach, have worked very well.
